BABOYOT with Sarah Nathan of Nooish: How an Industry Vet Created a Buzz-Worthy & Profitable Product
Meet Sarah Nathan, founder of Nooish, who transformed traditional Jewish matzo ball soup into an instant comfort food sensation.
On this episode of The Good Food CFO podcast, Nathan shares how her decade of experience in CPG and deep roots in Jewish culinary culture led her to invent freeze-dried matzo balls - a culinary breakthrough that turns an hours-long cooking process into a 2.5-minute preparation.
Beyond the innovation, she reveals how authenticity in branding and patience during development helped Nooish become a runaway success in the gifting market, particularly resonating with parents sending comfort to college students. Nathan's candid insights about pricing, growth strategy, and building a sustainable business make this episode essential listening for food entrepreneurs looking to create both meaningful products and profitable brands.

    I can tell you one thing, Kroger did jack squat to fix its mobile app and website. Online grocery shopping has grown by 17% last year alone to a whopping $9 billion dollars. Kroger has invested millions in a new home delivery system in an effort to capture some of this market. The problem is their mobile app sucks, and it has so for years, from the very start.

    No, I didn't. But this little comment interested me enough to go look it up and I couldn't find any information on it and you didn't give me any information on it. So you're another channel that TH-cam will not be recommending to me in the future. Have a Merry Christmas!

      Hey @michaelfrench3396 thanks for your comment. I'm wondering if you went to our page to watch our original video where we very much break down this so called "frozen French fry cartel"?

    First of all, I want to thank you for the incredible content you share! This episode was extremely insightful and helped me learn new concepts and clarify questions that were still a bit unclear for me. Thank you so much for your dedication and for presenting this information in such a practical way! I understand that the scenarios you discussed are simplified examples, but I noticed one point and would like to ask a question. I noticed that when you increased the sales volume, the operating costs remained stable. However, in many real-world cases, when scaling production, operating costs tend to increase as well. This could happen due to higher marketing expenses needed to support the increased sales, the need to hire additional sales staff, or increased logistics costs if you're selling to customers further away. My question is: is there a common benchmarking standard for operating costs for food industries? In the initial examples, you were working with an estimate of 40% for operating costs. Is this percentage a recommended average for food businesses, or does it vary significantly depending on the stage of the business and the specific operating model? And if there’s any content or resources where I can dive deeper into this topic, I’d love to study it further!

    Capitalism is Not in the Constitution! The Bill of Rights is a thing though. People should matter more than another billion dollars, especially when we've pushed so many to the streets to make room for the billionaires.

    We feed other countries what we grow and small farmers everyone grows different things from different regions if you take away that we will be back to no incoming fruits and vegetables that are here because we send them things and the people who do that are the big companies with mass production.

    You're doing people a disservice...this is way to oversimplified and you're not telling people that this scaling idea is based on doubling output with every sale. Who scales 100% all the time?

    • @thegoodfoodcfo
      @thegoodfoodcfo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @user-de7tu9cq4h I agree with you, no one scales at 100% all the time ( I talk specifically about scaling in episode 90). In this episode I'm talking about the basic financial needs to keep your production stable; i.e. no growth at all, and why businesses, like the founder who emailed me, struggle to grow their production even slightly.
