RJ Corman In The Snow

In February 2021 I visited the NS Pittsburgh Line to photograph trains in the snow. Sadly, a derailment about 100 miles east of Altoona shut down the line for a couple days. I did get word of a grain train getting ready to leave Cresson on the RJ Corman Railroad. I grabbed the camera and headed out to catch RJ Corman in the Snow! Copyright 2021, 2024 Brian R. Sopke

While staying at the Gallitzin Tunnel Inn in February 2021, I captured these trains running past the inn at Milepost 248 on the Norfolk Southern (ex-Pennsylvania RR) Pittsburgh Line. The Tunnel Inn is a great place to stay where "Only the Engineer is closer to the trains." They have trackside-facing rooms with a great view of the tracks. Three consecutive westbound trains head down the hill at Lilly, Pennsylvania on the NS Pittsburgh Line. These were taken September 30, 2023 and included a couple of surprises - the NS Geometry Train and the Nickel Plate heritage unit.

@user-lk2yr7zg1e unfortunately the NS power was doing most ofl the work. Also, it was very windy and the video camera's built in microphone did a less than pleasant job... capturing more wind noise than anything else. The music actually made the video doable. Maybe someday I will have funds to upgrade to a better camera with separate microphone and windscreen. Thanks for watching and for your input.

I am a rail fan and do TH-cam on the Pittsburgh line on Sundays. Look for a red blazer, and a guy with a camcorder .....liked the video

Great video. The editing and narration were right on. Looking forward to future updates and progress! That ex Milwaukee road covered hopper at Johnson county co-op looks very familiar. I had weathered a tangent version of that car and sold it on eBay a while back.
