    I had a scheppach tablesaw and got someone to make a extended spindle that screwed onto the existing spindle and also at same time increased the bore size to match the hole in my freud dado set. The new spindle could easily be removed when I needed to use a normal uk 30mm bore blade.

    am in the same boat, had my milwaukee table saw now a few yrs and have found the exact same problem, i also wish milwaukee would bring out (like some other manufacturers) a power adaptor that you can plug into the mains so it runs off 240v while possible and then convert back to 18v when out in the field - as much as i love the table saw i do sometimes wish i would have got a different brand

    • @madventure2318
      @madventure2318 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree re the power adapter. I spent more on high capacity batteries than the saw itself when doing a large oak project that pushed it to its limits. I do like the saw though despite its short comings. Dust collection, or lack of, being the biggest issue.

      Lucky you've got a lifetime warranty then isn't it. And as China produces 89% of all Automotive parts and tools , from the very worst to the very best, I'm not sure it being from China means anything. I remember in the 80s when people would whine about things being made in Japan....

    Thanks for sharing the info 👍 Bearings on my Amana are a little rough out of the box. There’s also a little sway so it’s important to be as close to 90 degrees as possible to prevent minor inconsistencies in the countersink diameter. Perhaps I’m being a little particular since the price point is around US $45. I may repack bearings just to see the difference even though I just bought the thing.

    Tools used to be expensive. When we were buying Swiss quality, English Sheffield Steel, German engineering, solid American manufacturing and so on. I have Moulinex Electric Carving Knife that is over 60 years old that still works like the day it was purchased. Then the supermarkets arrived, rapidly followed by catalogs and far eastern fabrication. Price cutting in every possible way. And we got hooked on paying less and less. Western workers wanted to earn decent money from their skills. So manufacture began to move to poorer countries in South America and Eastern Europe. When their workers started demanding better wages, our manufacturing went to Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, then on to China. Now it is starting to move to Africa. To hide where this terrible quality is coming from, these goods began faking the brands or even licensing historically trusted brands from failed western companies who could no longer afford to continue trading. Now we whine about a tool like this when it costs more than twice the price of a pizza or steak, or about a t-shirt that costs more than £10. And we complain because employers like Amazon want to pay their drivers minimum wage. And we get all upset because the Post Office wants to increase delivery fees, or the plumber charges us £50 for a callout fee. Look at the video of how the real Woodpecker is made in the USA. As an engineering type of person, what would you charge to make and assemble one of these things yourself? When Xi Xinping forces all our factories to close down, remember, we only have ourselves to blame for not supporting local production.

      Hi, yes very happy. The orange back rail is from UJK but I would hold off ordering. I have the Benchdog rail which I prefer for most (but not all) cases and think I did a video on that when I first got it. Worth a look. I plan to do a comparison video shortly.

    Dado stacks are not legal in industry anymore in the UK therefore they do not sell jobsite or industrial saws anymore that can take dado stacks in the UK.. There is nothing to stop you at home fitting a dado if you can. All these sort of cuts have to be done with specific cutter blocks with a spindle moulder. You could however try a grooving blade from CMT. Or you might be able to find a wobble saw, also now not legal in industry in the UK. I use a 6mm CMT grooving blade on my Makita jobsite saw. It's only a 150mm blade as opposed to the 260mm standard fit.

      Thanks, Sean, that's really useful info. I will take a look at the 6mm grooving blade.

    • @seanwilson471
      @seanwilson471 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@madventure2318 there is no reason why you can't stack 2 normal blades together so long as the teeth alternate. Make sure you tighten down well rather than relying on the self tightening motion of the saw incase they slip on start up. With various blades you can achieve some dado cuts. I am by no means recommending this is safe, it's just how a lot of people overcome the problem. The CMT grooving blades are designed to be stacked together as the teeth are well spaced. It's just there is no locking device. The regulations say the the blade must clear the work piece. Cutter blocks and grooving cutters etc must be locked in a specific block designed for the purpose. At home it's up to you. You might also be able to find a wobble blade to fit your machine. These are also now not legal in industry. Mainly wer. used on spindle moders

    After only using it a little, the electronics broke after the warranty. Then I dropped a heavy tool on it and the dark colored casing broke into many pieces. I had to replace the hose once because it hit a hot construction lamp. Customers think it is a beautiful tool, but you have to treat it as if it were a delicate piece of furniture. Not very appropriate in a place where renovations are taking place. Next time I will buy a simpler and more robust device. A regular household vacuum cleaner works just as well and the cord can be stowed away at the push of a button.

      I'm professional handyman, so I tackle various jobs. I had mine midi for 5 years, used and abused. It was hard working horse, used for fine dust (filler sanding, concrete drilling, tidy up after demolition, you name it) It started to become very hot (took it apart, cleaned , changed main filter) and I had to change cable recently, was working perfect, no overheating after clean up. Unfortunately it was stolen couple days ago, but I'm pretty sure it would be working fine for more years. Maybe you was unlucky with your model

    You should have avoided using cement in old Building, its to strong, and non breathable, it will trap moisture behind, and it will cause only problems. Quick lime is what should have used. Also, you ought to point in ‘like for like’ method not use different materials. I have also noticed, that there already had been patch work conducted on your house using cement, instead of lime. I suggest, you read at least a book of Nigel Copsey on lime mortars. Stay away from cement. I hope this helps. I was reading and still read on old materials and old buildings as I live in one just like you, and want to make sure that right material is used. Sorry if this sounds discouraging, you have done great jobs just used wrong bonding material. All the best.

    • @peterfcoyle9127
      @peterfcoyle9127 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. Portland Cement is not helpful. The hard rule is the mortar cannot be harder than the material.

      Thanks for posting - you make an interesting point regarding lime but if I’m honest - I wouldn’t worry too much. I’ve never seen a detriment, and it sounds like you understand the actual purpose of pointing, ie it’s not a structural repair to fix movement. Making test mortars, proper preparation and matching appearance is more important. A weak mortar mix will be fine and still ‘breathable’ - although I can honestly say that Victorian-built houses have much bigger problems and both mortar repairs will still ultimately be killed by frost and movement. A shallow depth of any new mortar won’t solve that. Plus modern plasticisers will replicate many of the workability benefits of lime and keep the water content down. As noted by someone else - mortar strength - people who mix 1-1 with mortar - and paint it on instead of properly preparing the courses - that’s the most common DIY error. Thanks for posting, and didn’t worry, I’m not discouraged. I think you raised an interesting point. We're all still learning.
