Bloody shitting hell, I’m fourteen!
I’m fourteen!
Not a baby
Not afraid
Of anything
And certainly not
Of a dumb dead dog
See, I can say the word
Dead, dead,
DEAD!
Mischka, my forever friend
My gentle, wild companion
Whose eyes forgive me anything
Who sees me as I really am
Are you truly running
Through the trees forever
Never to appear again
And press your nose
Into my open hand?
This is all so unfair
So much more than I can...

"Have you ever been told you don't know what love is?" I feel like I’ve spent most of my adult life trying to avoid thinking about my teenage years, to the point where my memory of that time in my life feels hazy at best, and nonexistent at worst. If you were a troubled kid, it’s painful to look back at a time filled with emotional outbursts, angst, bad decisions, “cringe”, and a whole manner of things one might prefer to leave in the past. GREDOS (Starship I) was conceived through the process of (mis)remembering a particular school trip I took when I was 14, recontextualising small fragments of text from (mis)remembered scrap journals and deleted messages as a science-fiction adventure. The cantata’s six movements are full of contradictions and juxtapositions, oscillations between intimacy and intensity, the sci-fi story broken up by (mis)remembered anecdotes about a past you can’t quite comprehend outside of how it made you feel. In essence, GREDOS (Starship I) is a piece about healing your inner child. I’m hoping that this small step to that end may help others do the same. The composition and premiere of 'GREDOS (Starship I)', and participation in the Composers Conference, is made possible due to the generous support of the Fromm Foundation of Harvard University.
Absolutely mesmerizing. Fantastic work!
Not really a pop piece, but it's interesting, if you've got the patience to listen to it. It could work very well in a soundtrack setting.
'Taboo' was inspired in part by online folktale 'SCP-4000 [REDACTED PER PROTOCOL 4000-ESHU]' - special shout-out to PeppersGhost for such an incredible article + story! Read SCP-4000 at the following link: scp-wiki.wikidot.com/taboo
This is absolutely stunning, Zyggy!
thank you so much! <3
It's around 11pm before December 3rd as I'm writing this. I wasn't intending to release this record at all, but following the premiere of two of its pieces at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in October 2021, I felt that I would be doing my work a disservice not to put it out at some point. And that some point, I guess, is in about an hour from now. 'A MIND CRASHES INTO THE SUN' is an album of four pieces, written and recorded around the time of the first COVID-19 lockdown. 'A MIND CRASHES INTO THE SUN' has been an interesting album to piece together: what started out in February - in relative normalcy - as an experiment into piano loops and virtual synthesizers turned into one of my coping mechanisms during the craziness that was March 2020. As the world quietened down around me, I felt more inclined to look inwards, toward a more solitary practice - to dive into myself, and come out the other side with a fresher perspective on music-making and creation. This is my first foray into electronic music in any sort of way that I'm proud of, and I don't want to claim I'm treading new ground with this album, or that this is indicative of my current practice as a composer. I just felt like the time was right for this record to see the light of day. Most of the synthesizer work was done on Helm - a wonderful virtual, cross-platform polyphonic synthesizer developed by Matt Tytel: tytel.org/helm/
Mesmerising!
Well done Zyggy and Oli! Really atmospheric!
May I use for an SCP 001 game I am working on? I have no experience in making music so it would be great if you could let me use it. Thanks
wow i am ur biggest fan do you take music requests
I like this! Lovely! Well done!
Fun fact: if you look up in the sky tonight (Monday 21st), you'll be able to see the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. This doesn't have relation to the piece, I just thought it was nice.

It's a great track. But I don't think it really fits with S.D. Lockes Proposal.
Don't go into the light... EVER
Did you mean by when day breaks the Scp 001
Yep! This piece was inspired primarily by that proposal.
