Here in the UK you are not anaesthetised for a colonoscopy. You can have sedation if you wish, or gas and air is available. I am having one soon and I will be able to watch it on a monitor, which I think is very interesting. It's my body, I want to see what it looks like from the inside!

Just had my second Colonoscopy yesterday. Piece of cake procedure. The worse part is the prep solution and that's not bad at all. I used the Pedilyte - Berry Frost flavor and placed it in the refrigerator. Not bad at all. You have nothing to be worried about as far as the procedure goes. Check in Get undressed Get wheeled into the exam room Go to sleep Wake up 15 minutes later Go home and eat

I personally haven't had one yet being only 44 years old. I'm from Canada and here the screenings apparently start at 50. There are apparently modern methods offered her such as a FIT test which is done at home or a flexible sigmoidoscopy which just examines the lower part of the colon. Not having had the first hand experience myself, I ask myself, how bad can a traditional colonoscopy and a traditional prep really be?

Hi from Canada. This explanation is totally different than my experience. I had to go through the cleansing procedure. However during the actual screening I was totally awake and watched the whole procedure on a monitor and was very thankful for that. It was very enlightening to see and I didn’t have any doubts about the health of my GI tract. Am going again soon and am hoping for the same procedure.

Glad it worked out. My hospital caused my stroke. I had an undiagnosed CD, BP 240/180 … BP eventually went down over the next hour and I was left with a slight right side headache .. they gave me an immitrex shot for a migraine .. I stroked out within 15 seconds. That was 27 yrs ago (I was 39) got over the stroke reasonably quickly (after 3 day coma) and ICA is now 100% “open”. … very scary to wake up on a table with tv monitors unable to talk but could still, swear and did .. profusely.

I was thinking the same thing before I had my procedure 4 years ago. Many snake oil salesmen will try to convince you that the average American has 5-10 pounds of fecal matter in their colon, which isn’t true. If that was the case, you’d lose quite a bit of weight during the prep.

This is laughably dishonest. I can say with complete confidence that this "Dr" has no place at Sharon Hospital. He didnt give me the time of day, its possible perhaps there was/is a lanquage barrier? Although I do not believe he was ever interested in what i had to say. He ordered imaging, and hand waved my complaints of severe discomfort. I tell him, ive had a hernia before, repaired right here at Sharon Hosp. He says, "you dont have a hernia" imaging confirms i do in deed have a new Hernia. He gets results, hand waves it away. "Its a minor hernia" img also indicates diverticulosis. This is a relatively sudden and at times severe pain in low left side. The guy says.. "maybe you have gluten allergy" yea, "Doc" the sudden diverticulosis and hernia isnt the problem. Its a sudden sensativity to wheat at the age of 43. The incompetence of this man.

  • @MrJesseslypig

"This guy", I get referred to Dr. Ugurlu by my GP, as he diagnosed me with a hernia. I have consult with a completely dismissive and arrogant Dr.Ugurlu. I'm also suffering moderate to severe pain in low left side. For months. Imaging confirms hernia and shows (Diverticulosis) Dr. Doom here, calls me, to leave a vm about the "good news" that the imaging showed no problem. So I'm all set. Nothing about my medical state could be described as good news. He wouldnt even acknowledge the hernia, let alone operate. He had the Gaul to suggest that maybe I had a "gluten allergy" I'm 5'11 fit 198lb Never been in this much pain for so long. Also, never encountered a medical professional who could have cared any less. Please note, I preemptively refused any talk of opiate pain management. That's not what I was there for. Sincerely hope this guy can develop some compassion. And pray his malpractice ins is up to date.

Very many thanks for a very informative video gentlemen. I was diagnosed with COPD in 2020, but due to Covid rearing its ugly head I’ve heard nothing more which frustrates me, especially as my new Dr told me nothing whatsoever about it. My former Dr jumped ship as soon as Covid came! I wanted ideally to to have my second Spyrectomy, but was told no! I did manage to get her to refer me to Pulmonary Rehab where I’ve learned everything I needed to know, plus a wonderful array of exercises. I’m sure my copd has moved up from mild, but just can’t find out. I would be extremely grateful if you could give me some advice as over 4 years is a long time to wait. Very much appreciated
