Candle dispenser made from recycled hardwood and aluminium
Needed some kind of dispenser for tealights as part of my bedtime routine because I need my lavender essential oil before bed 😂
Made mostly from wood I found outside that I believe is a kind of mahogany and now on its 3rd life.
Could be a little easier to get the candles out but it works 😅

Queering The Lovespoon - Llwyau Caru Cwiar
มุมมอง 6057 หลายเดือนก่อน
Queering The Lovespoon A new project by me, Mattie Griffiths, artist and maker. Between the 16th and 18th centuries the giving of love spoons (Llwyau caru) was a Welsh folk custom and courtship ritual. The earliest datable spoon is from 1667 but the custom is believed to have begun long before. Each spoon was unique to the carver and the recipient. They took many different forms, using a wide a...

This 'tocado palmera' headpiece was made for drag artist Choriza May with accompanying dress by Christopher Niari (@christopherniari on instagram) worn to the attitude magazine awards 2021. Choriza's channel: th-cam.com/channels/0nW5Y85bfzUBh7eCkn9A-A.html I loved making this, my first showgirl style headpiece, using a number of different skills. Foam blue lips prop for drag queen Sister Sister Drag Race UK season 2
มุมมอง 6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Sister Sisters been on the poppers and she needed a prop pair of lips to match her own. Impressive! Is there a way to see photos of the individual spoons in detail? Do they pertain to real people, or were they inspired by your imagination? Throughout the video, l had an idea they might be commemorative, like the AIDS Quilt…which got me down the rabbit hole of the panels I worked on! (And the backer rod wig in the inset link at the end always reminds me of one that I made as a memorial to a friend!) Thank you !

Diolch/thanks! Yes I have taken pictures of all the individual spoons, I have posted them with small texts on my Instagram. The show has just started so over the coming days I will be updating my website with all the information of the project at this time. And to your question, I suppose yes and no. I have a decent size collection of vintage gay magazines so two of theme spoons were inspired by people and information in those magazines. But also some are just my imagining of people and stories with both welsh and queer themes. I agree they are commerative in a way, the aids quilt is another example of commemoration and craft coming together, I would be immensely pleased for my work to be shown along with pieces like that. 😊

WOW this is AMAZING!!! I wonder if it's possible to create a base of that spray foam and then glue hair on top of it? Or if it's just better in that scenario to invest in a hair cage? I have a wig that needs a crazy base (Fairy Godmother from Shrek 2) and this technique looks so good! Incredible work!

using a "cool melt" hot glue. regular hot glue is too hot for this stuff, it just melts.
