Sew Martha

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 24 พ.ค. 2015
Hi! My name is Martha and I’m happy you’ve stopped by here. I’m a wife, a mom to two adult daughters and for my day job, I’m a respiratory therapist. I started sewing when my kids were little babies but only sewed simple things like baby blankets and valences. Now, with quarantine, I’ve picked up my old hobby and I’m learning so many new things. So I decided to create these TH-cam videos and hope you follow me along my sewing journey and learn new tips, tricks and sewing hacks with me.

Than you so much I am a elderly woman who is try ing to find a hobby I may try this you made it look easy
@@sandiejohnson6476 Hi there. I’m sure you can do it. If I can, so can you. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
I'm sure you know how to edit videos by now so that when your husband comes in and interrupts your tutorial while hacking up a lung, snorting, coughing, and spewing at 100 decibel level, you can maybe edit that out. And Yes, it was THAT loud. You must be used to that noise, or maybe you have to tune him out...Whew !!! My ears have stopped hurting now.
@@cathleenvance4441 this was one of my first videos and yes I’ve learned. And the person in the back has a incurable disease and I’m not bothered by it. I’d much rather hear that than not have that person around
Why do you need the bottom fabric? Why can’t you just do the interfacing to the top favor only?
@@dtharge4082 you don’t need it but I added it apply that the fabric would also show on the underside of your project. Let me know if you try it
Love the bowl with the fabric.
Me too! Thank you

@@sharonhplamondon4694 thank you so much for watching and enjoying my video. Soon I’ll be back with another fun rope coaster project.
Wthek? That electric scissors is so loud! The coughing, the sounds! Phlegm. Snorting and hacking in the background, then he comes and interrupts you, talking about WHAT? The worst video presentation I’ve ever seen on tubeyou.
@@mirib5007 lol. It’s really not THAT loud. And it was one of my first videos. I had no clue how to edit. I’m learning

How do you get them on if you can't open the top of the zip?
@@elizabethhill8781 that’s a great question. I unbuttoned the pants and I was able to pull them up without unzipping. It was just the waist band that was strangling my waist.

@@elena3831 for a trivet, it will help with the heat and protect your counter. And for the trivet, well it’s makes the rope disappear a bit beneath the fabric. But you certainly don’t need it. Try it both ways and see what you like best.

You are a natural born sewing teacher, but I still can't believe you are teaching us sewing on TH-cam. I have been making many samples for exhibitions, magazines and my classes, but the fun of sewing is making something for my family. My grandson and granddaughter who are second grade of elementary school enjoyed making coasters for their family last weekend. It was fun for me to teach them.

Go for it! They are super easy!
I so glad you didn’t mute the sound as I always wondered if those scissors were loud. Thank you
@@ronekelly4733 hi 👋🏼 yes they can be loud if you have a sleeping baby nearby. But honestly, it’s not too bad at all.
Is it possible to fold over the waistband of I make it long enough?😄also does this work the same with low rise leggings?😄I was also wondering if I could make the waistband with any fabric or only some?😄😄sorry for all the questions, I’m new to sewing😅😅this video was extremely helpful!😸😸😸😸
You definitely can fold it over if you make it long enough. That would work out great. And yes, low rise would work too. Just measure how tall you want your rise to be. You can put them on and measure where you want them to be. You want to choose fabric that has good stretch and recovery. The recovery in your fabric is very important so that it doesn’t loose its shape as you’re wearing them through your the day. I love ponte. It makes the best waistband. I’m hoping my answers make sense. If not, let me know and I’ll try to make better sense of it happy sewing.

The electric scissors seemed to have no problem in the zipper area? 😮
Yup! I love how they cut through anything
How rude is this man talking during your video? And why don’t you tell him to shut the f up?..
Now we need the tutorial on the little matching wallet! Thanks for sharing, so cute!
Stay tuned! Thats coming next
Definitely seems safer than rotary cutters that are so easy to slip across the ruler and cut your hand.
I totally agree. I’ve accidentally left my rotary cutter with blade out and just tapped it and cut myself.
How long does the blades stay sharp? Especially cutting through fleece which really dulls things fast.
That was my concern too after cutting all that fleece. But it’s still going strong. Same blade for a year and I’ve cut plenty of fabric and just now staring to notice it dulling.
How many layers do you think it’s going to cut?
Hi there. I’ve cut up to 8 layers of rib knit and had no problem.
Hello! Can you tell me how many layers of frabric this can cut? Please thanks!
Hi Cindy. I’ve been able to cut through 8 layers of Rib knit and 6 layers of fleece without any problems. I hope you give it a go and see how you like it. Let me know what you think.
