Hey! I tend to use protective filters when i can! I used a fuji protective filter with this lens as the hood is only plastic and without it, the glass is pretty exposed. The filter didn't add any glare!!

Hey Mark! I still have a video to come from Kyoto, perhaps my next one! I wasn't the biggest fan of Kyoto though. Its in an incredibly beautiful city with such incredible culture and architecture. I loved visiting the shrines and the main attractions but it wasn't really my type of photography. I much prefer built up citys like Tokyo! I found myself drawn to my 27mm 2.8 (40mm) and my 33mm 1.4 (50mm). I felt these focal lengths suited most scenarios, capturing the beauty of Japan while also proving the pictures with a focus of a subject or detail.

Cheers Tyler, will you put out a Tokyo vid? I'd love to see what you shot there in and in Kyoto. Thanks for the lens deet's.. I've got the 33 1.4 but haven't used it a lot and was hoping it'd find it's purpose in Japan when I'm there. Thanks again, Mark.

@@markdavidson9458 Yes!!! I have a couple of videos from Tokyo lined up! The 33 was my most used lens on the trip, such an incredible piece of glass. Sadly I set mine go when I returned to the uk as I still much prefer the smaller f2 lenses!

I loved shooting in Japan. I much preferred it to any Europe photography I have done. Japan has such a diverse range of photo opportunities and it’s one of the only places I have enjoyed shooting when it has been gloomy with no good light. When it becomes dark it really comes to life, every street is different with lights and patterns you have never seen before.

Hi there! It all depends on what lens I am using. I always shoot back button focus. With a capable lens such as the 23mm f2, I will keep the camera on continuous focus so I can hold the back button to counteract the subject moving away from me / coming towards me. With wide lenses, such as the 18mm, I love to shoot manual zone focus, but I can also press the back button to focus if needed! On slower lenses like my 27mm f2.8 I shoot back button focus but in single focus, as the lens struggles to keep up with tracking. But it still works very well I just have to think and take my time more. Thank you!! :)

@@7743dustin Hi friend, as standard the AF ON button on the back should make the camera focus? So if you then set the camera to manual focus and shoot it that way, you can then press the AF ON button to overwrite the manual focus if a scene changes quickly. Do you know how to zone focus?

Hi mate, sorry for the long reply. But it is a neck strap from Hyperion Camera straps. It’s the 90cm version, perfect length to wrap around wrist or have hung on the shoulder. Funny enough I bought a new strap on my current japan trip. So if you like to purchase the one in this video for cheap let me know :)

@@TylerHowell01 Thanks man, I know shinjuku is going to be cool and kyoto but haven't got into specific spots apart from the bamboo forest and Fushimi Inari there yet.. It'd be cool to know what times to shoot to see a few geishas. Funny, I bought a red artisan & artist silk red strap and it wore really, really badly. I was thinking of getting in touch with them about actually 'cos it's stiff and faded a couple of years on 😪

Glad you enjoyed. The simulation is as followed. Monochrome + G filter, DR200, +4 highlights, +4 shadows, -4 sharpness, -2 noise reduction. I add grain via lightroom so I still can crop without the grain from jpeg being too large.

I will be taking my 23mm f2 and my 35mm f1.4. I was very close to purchasing another lens before my trip but sadly i have had to buy a new camera backpack and a SSD for all my japan content so i cannot justify it.

Thanks! I do agree. 28 is a bit too wide for me. My favourite focal length is either 35mm (23mm Fuji) or 50mm (35mm Fuji). I love this combo

@@TylerHowell01 I have sony a7III with Takumar 50mm 1.4 (radioactive) and I just love this lens. Second is 85mm Jupiter 9a my love/hate lens as I like image it produce just aperture ring is weird. And last is 135mm Tair 11A. Useful but very special.

I use a Bellroy Venture Camera Sling 10L. I’ve had many camera bags and the bellroy is by far the best. Bit pricey but couldn’t recommend more!
