    Hey @MeYouAndtheChickensfarm, I made quite a few comments on various videos and looks like you replied to most of them. Figure I would condense response on your latest video to give it some action. Thanks for the information about hawks, raccoons, etc. I didn't even know that Possums(Opossums?) were a threat to chickens. I'm from Indiana and never had issues with Possums doing anything other than getting into our feed. As far as the budding goes, I was in 4-H and I remember the kids who couldn't show their animals because they refused to remove the horns. I didn't understand at the time because I had a goat that broke a horn and died several days later from infection. No idea how it happened, it was a full size Nubian goat around 6-7 years old. Now that I'm older, I completely understand the situation and I just cross my fingers you don't lose an animal like I did. Great job on the channel, it's been a while since I've made it back and it looks like you have grown.

    • @MeYouandtheChickensFarm
      @MeYouandtheChickensFarm หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! We always appreciate hearing experiences from others. We believe that there is always room for learning and growing. Our beliefs on goats with horns may not be the same as others, and that's ok, we are totally ok with that because that's what creates each of our individual approaches to homesteading and also can create a chance to learn and we always embrace an opportunity to learn 💜

    I had two, a male and a female, when I was growing up. I got them when they were a few days old. And my geese were not protective they were territorial. They chased anyone who came in our yard including the garbage men. 😅 And they had a long standing feud with the dog that lived two doors down. When the dog was loose and the geese were in their pen he'd come over and tease them and jump on their pen. And when he was tied up and they were free they'd go over and harass him. They would also honk when anyone who didn't belong came within their sight. They were really smart. They knew their names. Would stop when I told them to, the garbage men were happy about that. And as long as I spent lots of time with them they would be real happy to see me. They would even peck on the patio door when they wanted us to come outside and play with them. But we let the female nest a short distance from the house and some foxes came up from the creek and literally tore her apart and dragged her remains back to their den. The male ran honking up to the house to get help but it was the middle of the night and my father thought it could wait until morning. The male wouldn't eat anymore. And my father bought 30 goslings hoping he would like one of them as a mate. But he never even acknowledged their presence. Finally, my father put him out of his misery because all he would do is cry and follow my father around the yard when he was outside. He got so skinny that he would've died anyway eventually. I really miss Speedy and Slowpoke. I hope to get another pair someday.

    I have had this breed many times . I only had a overprotective rooster from this breed once . I used to pick him up every time he got over protective with his girls when I was around and make him leave the girls and go with me and work on chores . But , he took on a big barn owl protecting his girls . After that , I let him be overprotective .
