Hello and welcome to my channel! For returning viewers, my apologies for the lateness of this upload. I recorded it awhile ago but hadn’t had a chance to edit it, because I went back to work after my maternity leave last week and it has been hectic! Thanks for your patience and understanding. Looking forward to chatting with you in the comments.

Hello and welcome to my channel! Thanks for stopping by. Today is my first bookish video, and I thought I'd flip through the most beautiful book set I have on my shelves, the Vintage Classics Russian Series set. Titles discussed: War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak The Master and Margarita by Mikha...
Oh that version of Gatsby! 😍
Hello from a fellow booktube newbie! I loved this video and can't wait to see more from you. I love that you read a wide range of books. I usually read romance and fantasy but I'm hoping to get some recs from you in other genres. Just subbed!
@@ThatBookChikka thanks for joining me! I have a few videos queued up that I haven’t edited yet, but hopefully I’ll be posting them both this month. Stay tuned!
The Alma book cover for The Great Gatsby: a feature presentation done right 💯. It smartly evokes a by-gone era through representative typography and artistic styles: art deco, gilded lettering, the washed out colour palette👍✅
Agreed wholeheartedly! And the best part is it’s a part of an enormous Fitzgerald collection (I think his entire oeuvre but I could be mistaken there). One day I’ll get my hands on them all!
@EvesBookNook that's great to hear😊. I suspect his other writings might not do the trick as Gatsby, but, there's always room for trial and error, I guess
Hi Eve! Welcome to booktube! Just came across your channel. Totally agree about feeling like you’re in the story and like a spell has been broken when you have to look up from the book! I’ve just gotten back into reading this year and loving it. I read pretty varied too, I think, not a lot of romance or horror but I’m open to trying most things, as long as the premise intrigues me.
Thank you so much!! And I hear you on the horror genre especially (I do enjoy romance!). I’m afraid of my own shadow so horror ain’t happenin’ for me!
@ Haha I’m sure your shadow is a nice person though 😄
Congrats on starting your channel! I'm a newbie too and videos like this encouraged me to start :) Looking forward to following your videos!
Yay, thank you! So glad to have you as a fellow booktube newbie!
Just discovered your channel and am loving it! So excited to see what you create in the future 😊 Legends and Lattes and I who have never known men have been on my tbr for ages too so this was a much needed reminder to get to them soon!
You're so kind, thank you! And I hope you enjoy them!
Well done, Eve. I thoroughly enjoyed that.
Thank you so much!
Fun tag. I loved the Master and Margarita
I haven’t read that one yet! Of the Russians I’ve only read Tolstoy & Grossman so far!

Great to see you back! That Lewis Carroll set is quite beautiful.
It really is! Thanks for watching!
A court of mist and fury is my fav!!! Hope you enjoy it 🥰🥰🥰
Belated welcome to booktube 💓 I'm really enjoying your videos!
@Claire_Fenby oh my gosh a booktube ICON. You’re the reason I first learned about the Penguin English Library editions like a decade ago! Thanks for watching!
I’m a newbie, too! Thanks for your video! I think I’m going to record one of these soon ❤ looking forward to more videos!
Hi Eve...can you personally suggest a book for me to read and I will read it thoroughly and I will tell you how good it was.
I’d be happy to try! Can you give me some guidance as to what you’re looking for? Genre, themes, tropes?
@@EvesBookNook well eve since I saw the film The Reader I will check out The Lady and the dog by Anton Chechov
If you’re a lover of classics, I recommend The Count of Monte Cristo. It’s long but an easy read and the payoff is excellent and cathartic. I haven’t read Zola but I’ve also heard wonderful things about his Rougon-Macquart series, which begins with La Fortune des Rougon!
@@EvesBookNook thanks eve I will search for the Book of The Count of Montecristo
@@EvesBookNook it's amazing how The Englishman William Buckley lived among the Aborigines of Australia for 32 years almost forgetting to speak English until he came back to civilization at Hobart Tasmania better than the French Painter Paul Gaughin living among The Natives of Tahiti and John Allen Chau was no William Buckley in North Sentinel Island By the way Johnny Depp played Brilliantly in the film The Libertine.
I am an adult so do not read Young Adult books or fantasy books ... what is it with those? They are everywhere ...
They’ve definitely become a trend! I love fantasy books but don’t enjoy most Young Adult books anymore- probably because I’m no longer in their target audience’s age range! Part of the massive uptick in popularity is thanks to social media- with teens connecting all across the globe there’s more awareness of particular books than ever before
I’ve got to read Kindred one of these days. And the Ottoman one sounds super interesting.
Welcome to Booktube! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. I started 2 years ago, and it was one of the best things I did. My daughter also loved Junie B. Jones! She's 14 now, and unfortunately hasn't found a book or series that captured her like Junie or Pinkalicious lol I always recommend Charles Dickens and Elizabeth Gaskell for classics, and some modern writers I love include Louise Penny, Ray Bradbury, and Brendan Slocumb.
Hi Eve, just stopping by to say hello and that I’ve been enjoying your videos. Your channel helped inspire me to start up one of my own. All the best.
That is awesome!
Kindred is so good but very heavy but also moves quickly which is nice! I definitely want to get to persuasion and emma soon but I need to re-read pride and prejudice first 😅 I who have never known men is totally an experience that I wish I could relive. You got yourself a great list!
Thanks for that rec! Hoping to get to Kindred this autumn but we’ll see!
If you like art books, you might like Patterns of India. The photos are gorgeous!
Just looked it up-that is stunning!
Welcome to BookTube! Great start. Looking forward to hearing more, especially your thoughts on Eighth Life and Ducks, Newburyport. No rush though. Any chance your husband will start a channel? I've been meaning to start one for about seven years now. One day!
Those are two of my longest tbr books so it may take awhile! 😂 and honestly on my husband’s front I doubt he’ll make a channel of his own but maybe one day I can convince him to make a few videos with me!
Welcome to booktube 💗! From one newbie to another, you got my support and a sub ! Can’t wait to see more content from you !
I’m thinking of joining booktube but it feels so daunting, congrats on starting your channel!
You should do! 😃 I'm sure you would create a wonderful channel and would be a fabulous addition to the book tube community!!! 🤗
I really enjoyed Legends and Lattes, but the prequel was my favorite of the two. I hope your reads go well.
I hope so too! Thanks for watching!
Looks like some interesting books. I typically read about 200 pages a day across 20 or so books. It seems to work quite well with me, and I'm impressed by myself that I can keep everything sorted. Some books I'm currently on are Aquinas' Summa Theologica, Ulysses by James Joyce (fourth time reading it), War and Peace (fifth time), Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, and Light in August by Faulkner. I may be trying some more contemporary books in the future, but I find most modern writers a bit childish with their themes - not so much the story-telling aspect itself, just the general sense you get when reading them. That may be the result of our society keeping most of these "educated" and "artistic" people infantile. But that's just my opinion. Haha. Enjoyed the video!
War and Peace is one of my favorite books of all time. Hope you're enjoying your reread!
Hello Eve! :) I'm also a new Booktuber, so you're quite a veteran in my book! (pardon the pun) I look forward to following your journey and perhaps learn some things about books I never knew! :)
Hi 🎉 love the shelves! Welcome to the community 😊
Ivanhoe is great! One of the best medieval historical fiction books I've read. Also, the Elena Ferrante quartet will destroy you, enjoy!
@@fedebooks 😂yeah I’m clearly in for it with Ferrante. And thanks for the Ivanhoe rec! I thought the blurb sounded interesting but my Goodreads compadres seem mixed, so I was getting hesitant.
congrats on starting out a booktube! as a vast genre reader, im very excited to tune into your recs and thoughts on books. Good luck!! Can't wait to follow along!
Yay, thank you!
Welcome, Eve! ☮️🩵📚
Thanks! Looking forward to sharing more in the coming days.
This video was just a lovely surprise. Thank you for being approachable and funny and authentic. I'm pretty sure given physical F2F proximity we would become friends - although we are MANY decades apart in age your life is very relatable...married to a college prof...reading being an activity that brings you great joy...a baby in the house...even separate bookcases for the same reason! I wish you every success and that creating videos will become as joyful a passion as reading obviously already is.
@@mhkmouse4646 this is so lovely ♥️ Thank you for this comment it made my day!
listening to your take on fantasy, i feel like magical realism might be up your alley! underrated genre
I really haven’t explored it much, though I think you’re totally right. I know Allende and Marquez are the main magical realism Latin American authors- any others you recommend?
@@EvesBookNook yeah i loved one hundred years of solitude by marquez! also haruki murakami (and a lot of japanese authors tbh) does magical realism really well but the way he writes women is....something
lol I didn’t realize he was magical realism but I’ve heard some other booktube commentary on him and am a bit wary!!😂
What a lovely video I am looking forward for more of your videos and books recommendations
Yes owning books is nice. Welcome to the literary superhighway known as BookTube
Welcome to booktube! I’m looking forward to hearing more about your thoughts on your reading!
Welcome to BookTube! I love channels with a wide variety of books, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. ☺
Awesome! Thank you!
Your set up is so cozy and I love how you display your books! ☺️ can’t wait to see your reading recommendations! Welcome to booktube ☺️🙏🏼
Thank you! I’m excited to grow the channel and share my love of books with the world!
Welcome to BookTube! Hope you love it here!
Thank you!! 😊
So many great books! I started reading Final Empire and I'm enjoying it so far! I hope you enjoy it as well.
I hope so too! Thanks for watching!
Haha, Billy, the king of bookshelves! Welcome to booktube! Broad tastes are good as they can bridge the gap between the different sub-communities on booktube.
😂they’ve lasted 3 years so far with 0 sagging so hopefully it stays that way!
Hello and welcome to the community, Eve! I love your bookcases 👀 ❤
Thank you! They’re just 2 IKEA Billy bookcases next to each other!
@@EvesBookNook oh, love that! They’re soooo pretty 🤩
Welcome to BookTube! I am a massive mood reader as well and I like to change my genres up. I have a few I tend to gravitate towards, but I try to throw other genres in every now and then as well!
Yay, thank you! And same - the only genre I really don’t read anything from is horror and that’s just because I’m a huge fraidy cat, otherwise I totally would!
@@EvesBookNook SAME!! haha I don't like anything very dark or scary.
Hello and welcome to book tube Eve. I’m still pretty new to all this malarkey and finding my way around. Look forward to hearing what you have to say. Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories.
Thank you! Hope the channel continues to reach fellow readers!
Hi Eve, and welcome to the community!
Thanks Amy!
I have my brilliant friend and dallergut on my list as well! I read the final empire but not sure if I'll continue the series- I really enjoyed it though, just not sure about the next book haha
I feel like Dallergut is gonna have to be my first review since so many people are enjoying it!
@@EvesBookNook I think I am about to start the audiobook haha
Hi Eve, welcome to booktube!! I am relatively new as well 😊 I have a broad taste as well so we probably have some overlap. I loved one tree hill as well! I see Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell on your shelves and that's my current #1 😅 I'm excited to see more from you!
lol I feel like the venn diagram of OTH/jonathan strange lovers has to be a verrryyy minimal overlap! That’s why I needed to make this channel haha!
Hi, Eve! I'm looking forward to hearing about all bookish things you want to share with us. From an oldie content creator to a newbie, welcome aboard. We're so glad to have you here!
Thanks John David. To paraphrase what they always said on call-in radio shows, “First time filmer, long time viewer!” Can’t wait to share my book passion with others!
Love how thoughtful you were with your answers. Welcome to the creator side of the community.
Thank you so much! Looking forward to sharing more.
Great video! For sure need to go book shopping soon. ❤
You should! Treat yourself!
Welcome! I've been reading a lot of history but lately I've been taking a break from that and reading fantasy.
I don’t know if you ever watched (the late) Jennifer Brooks’s channel, but history and fantasy were her 2 main genres. Sadly she passed earlier this year, but I still cherish her recommendations! You might find some shared interests there :) Thank you for watching!
@@EvesBookNook Yes. I dedicated a reading project to Jennifer's memory. She was amazing.
Glad to know how broad her reach was. That sounds like a worthwhile project. ♥️
