Yeah sorry to be a pest .remember the Japanese like dead wood all around the tree so yes after watching a 3 time 🤦🏻. You should bring into the loop of dead surrounding the apex with the disgn. So you have dead branches coming out of the top lad and have branches in and around the loop. that protects the apex . Don't push it away from the dead its there to exsentuate the apex if that makes sense. Good luck lad ✌️

Great video and great idea to hide the inverse taper

Hi. Ryan. My favorite species as bonsai, you find it's ok to do root work on them as it goes into winter, I have seen using a rock or something else to cover the inverse taper, it's really the only thing to do, interesting way to attach it to the tree using builders corking, I assume that will set and be permanent, not of the view that air layer is the answer a bit drastic, it's an ok tree with a good thick trunk, it's been badly treated in the past I think before you got it but it's in safe hands now and looking great after the work. All the best.

Hi Ryan I got a lot of larches last year and put them together to make two forest plantings all good everyone still alive should I leave them another year for the roots to grow and should I cut back new growth now ? I have had a large larch for about 35 years and it’s in a style of wind swept it’s about 2and a half foot tall when I get chance I’ll send you a pic and hopefully you could give me some tips on how better to develop it Enjoy watching your videos on larch so keep them coming Regards Dave

Hello young man 👍 I had a larch that was struggling a we bit to say the least . I took my chances and repotted it in coco coir and perlite mix last spring, it thrived and made a fantastic root system . I also potted a yew tree that was struggling like hell in the same mix it also thrived and produced 6mm extensions all over. Have you ever tried coco coir,i thoroughly recommend using it . The best tree revival mixture I’ve tried . It’s also very cheep. Anyway stay cool old been. Shaun Dorset 👍👍

Hi Ryan a great looking finish to the tree, Hinoki are not the easiest species to create pads due to the way the foliage grows in whorls, when I have a situation where the branch has part snapped I use super glue and clamp it within a short time it will be fine, I have used it many times and its not failed me, it's still a good idea to support the branch as you have, I hate the tape you are using, it can be the devil to get it off and can do more damage to the repaired branch trying to remove it. A little bit of rubbish about super glue it was first use in the Vietnam war by the Americans to repair wounds in American soldiers so they could send them back into the field. Super glue saved thousands of lives by bleeding out, It was first invented around the late 30s but not used for wounds in the 2nd world war. Thanks for the video mate.
