Living in North America, I have couple of Eastern Redcedars myself and I can attest that they are not cedars at all. The botanical name is Juniperus Virginiana so it’s actually a juniper (as you likely already know) with the common name Redcedar.

Probably one of the best Eastern Red Cedars I've seen as bonsai. These grow where I live and there's a massive one right outside my window. They aren't known to be especially good for bonsai but yours is doing great 👍🏽. I myself collected one from a road cut on a steep hill growing in a bunch of limestone and clay. It is growing very healthy now and I have yet to begin styling it, the trunk is sort of a half circle before it gets much branching so kinda boring.

Beautiful work! I would be tempted to try to raise an upper branch to transform the mounded top into a triangular apex profile, at least for comparison, then lay it back down if it didn't suit me. Three young "yardadori" Red Cedars were collected this fall - I would be overwhelmed to grow them to the stature of your tree 🏆

The little holes in the hawthorn dead wood are woodworm exit holes!
