Dave must have some actual experience with an actual alcoholic For me and plenty of others I know in recovery this is exactly the paradox. Hitting the perfect “spot” is easy at the beginning. Later on though it’s almost impossible to stay at that perfect level without going past
This also works as a metaphor for that moment when you start drinking to be sociable and think, "Ah, a little bit more will be fine." Next thing you know, you've reached the, "Might as well get shit-faced now" phase.
I find when I play poker, the sweet spot is exactly 1.5 drinks. I'm relaxed enough to make the big bets when necessary, but I'm still able to play at my best.

If you enjoyed these sketches I can't recommend highly enough the movie Another Round, starring Mads Mikkelsen - basically the same plot, but they are all high school teachers (but it gets very depressing) and has a beautiful ending!
"Suffice to say that at all major historical events, we've been in the background. Gently swaying from side to side..." That line just tickles me for all the right reasons.
Nobody can beat Mitchell and Webb when it comes to making horrific sentences hilarious. There was "the world would be a different place if even SOME of the children had survived" in one of the Quiz Broadcast sketches, then here, there's "Yes! I got that guy off that vicious sex murder, even though he obviously did it!".
There is a reason why when I sit down to write I have a couple of ciders (only) next to me. Turns out I'm not the only one from this sketch and comments.
I wonder which Ken Clark he meant. There’s a few. The one I always think of is the guy who wrote the book we had to read in high school, _Civilisation_
This is fucking brilliant 😂😂😂
“Our secret headquarters under the Head Office of Oddbins”… A couple of jokes in that line alone.
Slightly bitter in 2024.
Our sense of humour and observational awareness are so important to us. Love these guys.
👏👏👏👏
you tit. might as well get shitfaced now
Rudy Giuliani 😂
"Kebabs... and destruction" pure gold
This is one of the greatest sketches ever, right up with monty python
For every drink I take this gets more funny. And deeper..
Finishing his second pint led to 'The Event'.
It certainly worked for Churchill...
It is true, that slight drunk person has always been there think inking we couldn't see them the entire time.

Take the Red Sox miraculously beating the Yankees after being down 3-0

And they wanted to be men And do some fighting in the street They said "no surrender No chance of retreat"

I also thought of that movie immediately! 😊
This is some of the funniest shit I saw in the last couple months ....came back cause I was chuckling about it.....

This is like playing darts…it is easier if you are drunk.
oh no not the kebabs
A bit fighty. 😂

What's even worse than starting WW3 is you can see that Robert's character is holding a kebab in the final scene.
I didn't catch what was in the liqueur chocolate?
What is the music that starts playing after the enema? A friend used it in a short film many years ago, and I've since heard it in a few things.
Comedy is Britain and vice versa.
Kebabs and Destruction is my new band name
Absolute brilliance.
Dont forget that for Centuries, the common worker drank beer, ale and wine starting first thing in the morning, rather than water, it was safer...
Third pints and Kebabs
It'd be amazing if this is how 'the event' started
That laugh track was obnoxious.
note that one wine glass is 3/4 and the other is 1/2... so not quite two glasses of wine. attention to detail ftw
Hmm kebabsss,,,I cant be an😂 inebiriati
I don't understand why barristers have to train for years just to serve coffee 🤪
What show is this?
That Mitchell and Webb look, iirc.
Funny but scary.
cant believe mads mikkelsen made a movie about this
Being ever so slightly drunk is the true way to live
I'm sorry, it's just... i have a butt. And i think you do too. And the people in the courtroom also all have butts. And the ones outside...

The trick is to stay in the Inibriatii, not to slip into the Obliteratii, then you're finished.
Absolutely brilliant! And ever so much more believable than those ridiculous Illuminaughty boys.
I ve been watching americans , and now i need to wash it down my palate with some brit humour.
