Keep at it, man! I've been playing for years and the nuances and rakes that make this solo what it is are SO hard to get down with Mark's level of finesse. That's why I'm back! Do you have a specific song or part that stands out the most to you? I can't hear any pitch correction, but there are definitely harmonies from Mark and Eric that could be creating the illusion of pitch correction.
@@DavidHartigan well, thanks for asking.. give a listen to "Take You With Me", especially the first minute - less going on mix wise -, it is relatively subtle compared to genres using it rather "in your face".. maybe it is just me.. i know people have different sensitivity to this. Note that "Take You With Me" is a track i like, saved in my playlists, returning back to it every now and then.. i just wish the pitch manipulation technologies didn't plague the industry as they did. i really prefer a imperfectly reached note to a perfect, yet uncanny valley, note. You don't have to agree if you can't hear it, it's fine, enjoy your music; a friend of mine is kind of upset with me for the fact that ,since i brought it to his attention, he keeps noticing it way to often to enjoy his music.. i don't need to be "right" in the everyone's/anyone's eyes (ears) .

I will give "Take You With Me" a listen when I get the chance, and I'll also use htdemucs to isolate the vocal track and listen to that as well. I will reply back with what I hear after that experiment. Chances are, I'll find that what you've observed is correct - I don't listen to that song as much as his others, so I may have missed it when just listening before. As for your friend getting upset about your observations in their music, I understand. My wife is frustrated at me when I point out such things in the "country" music she enjoys (and I subsequently ruin) - I also understand that one can enjoy music without obsessing over it like we can/do ;)
@@DavidHartigan oh yeah, some country music has a lot of that. Overall, i believe too many sound engineers use it without proper self restrain. maybe without the artist knowledge too, due to varying degrees of bias. And i would mention: some times some mixing artifacts may sound similar to pitch manipulation... which is the reason i am not trying to die on all the hills fighting about it.. whichever it is, i think we need a counter-trend of appreciating the human element in musical vocals (many current musicians are hidden behind "technology")

first time listen only heard 1 track previously. great guitar work and good musicianship. A lot of really cool riffs, and solid vocals. It reminded me of Stone Sour a number of times.

@@scottking2467 I had to sit for some time to figure out what the difference is but it definitely seems to be slightly different. Think I have it now though, much more bluesy than I realised at first.
@@scotch7731he plays it slower. I play it like that too because it allows me to prepare myself before doing the subsequent legato. It's actually my favourite trick, doing bluesy lick before moving to shredding or legato
