I don't know why the V-tail went out of fashion. There is so much myth around them. They are so cool and technically superior to T-tails. (that is why the US military has brought them back)
half of 6 packs instruments ! just enough to fly and enjoy ! no garmin, display, bip bip...
Very nice video. I might suggest some footage of the entire plane. It would be nice to get a wider look.
That is so cool - I always loved the Ka3. I knew of the existence of the VGC but not the GHC. If I lived in the south of England I'd join immediately!
You can still join and we'll send you regular updates on what we're doing and you will be supporting the cause.
Nice flight!
Weiter so 👍
Is it related to the Schleicher Ka4 Rhönlerche? It does have some semblance to it.
Yes, Kaiser constructed the Ka1, Ka2, Ka2b, Ka3 and the Ka4 was the Rhonlerche. The Ka 23 (ASK 23) was one of his last designs in a long row.
@@louisvanrijn3964 Thnxs. Ka4 has a special place for me; first flight ever and first solo!!! Start of a long career in aviation as a pilot.
First time and only time I have ever flown a glider at night. One moonlit evening at Camphill on the UK Pennines
thanks for leaving your selfie stick at home...whoops...sorry....turns out is was about a guy's face after all
Bravo !!!
Why must you have the variometer ?? It is so annoying ! Whatever happened to looking at your altimeter, like the way soaring use to be ??
He uses the acoustic vario for his comfort and most of all safety. Watching the vario constantly (using the altimeter would be plain stupid, it is waay to slow to react and un-precise) distracts you from airspace observation, particularly when others are close by. In contests a working acoustic vario and its use is therefore mandatory. Acoustic varios are there for good reasons since the 70s, and virtually all gliders have them, incl. vintage gliders. Being wide-spread since >50 years counts for me as "Like it used to be".
@kaihorstmann2783 cool deal... it's nice to learn something new about gliders... thanks
Nice one Patrick. Love the shape of the Foka 4 with its 50s jet styled tail. Pretty sure I wouldn't fit sadly!
I've flown Foka few times in the gliding club in Elblag. Beautiful glider in my opinion.
Where was this?
The Gliding Heritage Center, Lasham airfield, Hampshire, UK
Good job brother!
I was a member of the ATC many years ago i learnt to fly in the T21 and the T31 flew both solo truly amazing experience. 👍👍👍
Gotta try this
So the Shuttleworth collection has an airworthy Queen Bee Optional piloted vehicle. Can they demonstrate an automated landing ?
It's privately owned but based at Old Warden. Original radio control unit long since replaced with standard tiger moth controls and instruments.
Wonderful. My first solo was in one of these, 60 years ago ..... happy memories!
Some really good air closeup filming. The wind noise does rather spoil it, challenging day it was.
Respekt
I did my unusual attitudes/spin training in a K13 at RAF Laarbruch. Great fun!🙂
Saw otto the helicopter tonight at a firework display in Aston Down. Enjoyed it loads and am happy there's people out there recording and sharing footage!
and what is that airfield (airpot) holy
what glider is that?
Great video.

The pilots who took off and landed on aircraft carriers in the Swordfish must have been immensely skilled and very brave. One managed to hit the rudder of the Bismarck which sealed her fate.
Fabulous sight, the spitfire got better and better with each mark. Arguably the P 51 eventually outclassed it, but needed a Rolls designed engine . Nice to see the Hurricane's, which of course were more plentiful in 1940 than Spits . Looks like a great day out, missed it this year, must do better next .
I don't think WOW remotely covers this. Apparently the Lysanders and the Blenheim are available for flight experiences from Duxford.
Wish I'd seen it live, thanks for sharing mate, much better than not seeing it at all.
If you're going to film takeoff and landings, don't be an idiot by setting up your camera behind a bunch of parked planes, dumbass! And if you can't find a better spot, no footage is better than crappy footage.
Where is this airfield?
Lasham, Hampshire, UK
Pity no commentary!
Lanc had a much bigger bomb payload . A squadron of Lancs was prepared for dropping the Atomic bomb, the B29s in special build were touch and go if they were going to be ready on time. The RAF did get a few B29s post war, they had early variants of the B17 during the war .
Someone said "How can anything so deadly be so beautiful". I couldn't agree more. I prefer seeing these iconic aircraft - including the often ignored Hurricane - in their original WW2 colours rather in modern bright flashy ones.
Beautiful sight. I still get goosebumps.
The lanclooks like it could teach the fortress a few lessons... Maybe just bias.
Such a magnificent sight to see, went there on the Saturday and the whole airshow in general was absolutely brilliant
Beautiful aircraft. Workhorse of the BoB and beyond. The Spitfire wasn’t better, it was different. The Hurricane was extremely successful against the Luftwaffe, and could take lots of punishment. We were lucky to have them!
such a cool view
The men who flew them during WW2 were Brave indeed.
superb.
I believe that was a mk4 Blenheim until it crashed and had to be rebuilt as a mark 1
Great stuff ! Keep em flying 😊
..that BF-108was used in the Great Escape by James Garner and Donald Pleasance in their escape attempt...
That was a Bucker Bestmann (or one of its derivatives)
What a delight, the Oly with its 'angelic choir' air-brakes...
Shame about the wind noise, pretty neat little mod though
I watched "Things to Come" (1936) the other day it featured one of these, briefly.
Such a great plane :) thanks for the share.
Two unique and beautiful planes!
