    Good video. Could I recommend that you get a microphone system when you record your straight to camera pieces, as the audio is feint. The Rode or DJi remote models are both very good and you can clip the transmitter until to a lapel without the need for an additional lavalier mic.

      My dream iteration would be the features of the Commuter bag under the Suit Carrier section - laptop compartment, and a bit more detailing on the bag when not used witht he suit carrier - as actually I often use the bag as a stand alone for carrying my tech and camera gear.

    this suitcase is not carry on, it's dimensions FAR exceed almost all carry on dimensions and the weight by itself is about 4 kilos which is ridiculous as most European carriers have a 10-12 kilo limit and most Asian carriers have a 7 kilo limit.

    • @danhogston
      @danhogston หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi There, thanks for your comment, I have never had an issue with this as carry-on, using it quite consistently for almost 3 years - I'm currently using the Carl Friedrik Carry-On X in Asia which is even bigger in size and heavier, and still no issue - even with Air Asia, I just paid a bit more to go over 7kg. So from experience I can say these things are not big issues.

Titan Fitness in Phuket Thailand where I was seems to be a similar concept to Club La Santa - cross training, full body workout, functional training, muay thai, nutrition coach, all inclusive food, training and accommodation.

    The one thing that really frustrates me when flying is how people don't know how to use overhead bins. You would think it would be easy right and is the reason why we have size limits? WHEELS FIRST means you get the maximum number of cases up there. Placing your case in sideways just takes up more room than it needs to and means somebody else is going to end up getting gate checked. It's one of those things cabin crew really look out for as it tells them who is really an experienced (and considerate traveler) and who is just pretending to know it all

    • @danhogston
      @danhogston หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sideways was for the shot as we got on first, it didn't stay that way when more suitcases / bags came on - the stewards saw to that lol I've been using this quite consistently and currently in Asia, no issues going in wheels first or sideways.

I heard from another reviewer that the rubber silent wheels create more friction when rolling on low pile carpeted areas compared to some other luggage brands.

    • @danhogston
      @danhogston 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment - so the handle is the most sturdy i've seen on any luggage, Carl Friedrik really took on feedback from the carry-On X and improved this, I can't praise this enough and should have mentioned that in the video. It's a very solid, it doesn't wobble and I guess it's steel - feels very premium. And the wheels, well, I think I mention them in every luggage video haha, like the Carry-On X the wheels are exceptional, but yes, it's true they add friction on carpetted areas, I started to notice this when wheeling them inside of hotels recently.

    I watched and enjoyed this video and your one year review of the away carry-on. I have the away. My question is for how many days do you think the SC Holdall is practical? I am going to Columbia for a wedding where I need to bring my tuxedo. I also go on business trips of five days or more where I may bring a sportcoat. When you also pack items for other days plus dress shoes, etc., is the SC Holdall too heavy, or too small? I also find the Away carry on very versatile especially for rolling through airports. But while you can fold a coat OK in the netted section, it’s not ideal. Appreciate your thoughts.

      Hi Larry, Apologies for delayed reply - was having a short youtube break. The SC Holdall is perfect IF you are driving, or you have a wheeled checked back with you you can lean it on. I actually use the SC holdall as my main carry on for my tech gear now and lean it on my medium checked when transiting around. I find it a bit heavy when packed out to use just by itself and walking / transiting without a car. Hope thats helpful. Thanks Dan

    It’s beautiful. I’ve been looking for a luxury hand-made carry-on and this one I’ll keep in mind. But I wish there were more options for underseat luggage.

      I agree - i'd love some more options for my personal item / under seat bag. I will probably get Bennett Winch's backpack in brown leather, so expect a review on that later in the year. Thanks

    I bought this and ordered after-market sternum straps but I am not sure how well that will work as they kind of slip down. So I am on the fence about returning it because I like the squishable and water-repellent fabric so much, as well as the look. I cannot even find another one I like that is 1.75 lbs or less.

      I've had this for a year now, I had it with me the whole time for 6 months of travel, and will make a follow up. Overall I still highly recommend it, I now squish it down in my suitcase and use as a day bag and at home in London I use it as a gym bag. It's light, durable, very comfortable to wear when fully packe out, even without the sternum strap, and what i really like about it is that when it's not fully packed out the shape kind of contours to make it appear smaller. I've trekked through a thai jungle with it, used it on many beaches, had it on a boat where it was getting splashed and in monsoon weather in bangkok, it held up exceptionally well. I couldn't be happoer with it.

      Thank You, I definitely will do. I've started a second channel as well @danVlogston which will have more camera gear content - I have a slightly extended version of this cinematic and an editing breakdown of this video, with my thoughts on the iPhone 15 Pro on my new channel already.

    Great review and can this carry on have a usb power point to charge a phone ?

    • @danhogston
      @danhogston 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Nik - I think an earlier version of this carry-on had a powerbank, but they removed it with subsequent iterations as far as I understand. I have the Bigger Carry-On by Away Travel with USB powerbank, but to be honest i never use it as it's micro-USB. I have a USB-C powerbank I use and just store in the front tech pouch of the Carl Friedrik and find it very versitile.

    Love Thailand, but Phi Phi is not great. Its become a magnet for (as you said) 18-25yo trashy euro clubbers.

    I always find your vlogs so relatable and informative. Your advice is golden. Speaking of travel gear, have you come across the new v4 Bento Bag from NomadLane? It's getting attention and might complement your travel style.

    Can you please provide the local phuket tour operator company

    • @danhogston
      @danhogston ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vijay, I'm really not sure of the name of the operator, all the bookings I did was via the local lady, Nokky, who operates the juice bar next to 7-11 on Soi Taied. Everything was booked in person with physical and WhatsApp receipts.

    thanks for this review, how well does it stand up on its own with a laptop on it?

    • @danhogston
      @danhogston ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dylan, i've been using this bag extensively this year as a full time travel, tech, and gym bag... i'm beyound impressed with it actually. If just the laptop and not nothing in the main compartment then it won't stand by itself... it all depends on whats in the main compartment really, i often have a camera / tech cube flat down in the main compartment and it stand sup great by itself, but for most uses - gym gear, camera sling and tripod, just laptop and daily tech, then it will need to lean against something when you put it down.

    I thinking to purchase this one of these... do the straps at the front have any use or are they purely for aesthetic purposes?

    • @danhogston
      @danhogston ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dom, it’s a great bag, I have used it extensively as my main camera and tech bag over the past eight months, as well as a gym bag and general adventure bag. it’s really held up well, particularly in Thailand in monsoon season. I will do a long term review next month. I personally haven’t used the straps for anything, but, I guess you could attach or tie gear or a jacket to it.
