Thank you for sharing this day of sailing. Well done!
@@Nick-zz6xl thank you. It was my pleasure.
Yeah I am also thinking about getting one Seiko but fighting with casio
I want one ❤.
90% sure omega just released something that looks very, very similar for $10 000 more lol
cause it's not quartz
Loved it...❤
I don't like heeling past 30 myself unless I'm on a racing boat or a hobiecat or something.
Many thanks from France ! 🙏
@@theobirambeau8935 I'm glad that you found this useful.
I've been watching this video for over an hour. I like that you have the compass with the wind direction in the upper laft hand corner. You need a lavalier mic so that we can hear you over the wind noise.
@@saufpau thanks for the suggestion on the mic. Would I then need a way to combine the audio and video when I post it online? I'm using a GoPro Hero Black7 if that matters.
What size solar panels are you using and what house battery/batteries use are you using?
@@chasingthedream2638 I have a single 200Ah LiFePo4 battery and a pair of Renogy 50w panels. The controller is a Victron Bluetooth charge controller.
@@christrouten9606 thanks for the quick reply what electronics are you supporting with that setup?
@@chasingthedream2638 I have a Fusion Link marine stereo, a Garmin Echomap 73, and a Renogy 3000w pure sine wave inverter for running power tools for working on the boat and dock. I also have a small 700w microwave for popping popcorn and melting butter for dipping lobster tails in.
Putting on a life vest esp. when solo sailing is a good idea!
Great vid
@@timburnett6729 thank you. I'm glad you liked it.
That’s great video for me,thank you very much.
@@hkkjTacTacfijoa I'm very glad that you enjoyed it. Happy sailing!
I like the Voice Projection. Sound like you're delivering a speech at the stadium. How'd you do that?
@@CC-qg8wu that's just how GoPro's sound when it's windy.
Can you just use heat resistant silicone to cover the groove up?
Chris, one of my favorite sailing positions is to sit forward on the leeward side when sailing on a beam, broad reach or running. This allows you to pay attention to the jib/jenny luff and gauge your heel and waterline. Also, the cool breeze in “the slot”will cool you on hot Summer days. Sitting on the stern creates drag and sitting on the high blocks your view. Try it, you’ll like it.
@@sunshinerisingfarm I've never been comfortable on the leeward side except for when sailing under very light winds. I don't know if it has to do with the fact that I cut my teeth sailing a Hobie cat. I just always feel like I'm going to capsize if I can't hike out and keep the boat balanced.
Once you learn sail twist you won't have to reef so quickly.
@@danvitale1825 I don't mind at all reefing when I'm still able to maintain over 5kt of boat speed. I prefer to sail at a comfortable 15 degrees of heel rather than 30. I'm not trying to impress anyone but myself.
You don't need to reef. That wind is so light.
@@captainhml3868 unless you have sailed on this lake, you wouldn't know. Under the conditions this day, reefing was appropriate.
You are going to be copyright striked for the music.
It's been up for months now with no issues.
I have the exact same identical boat in an 81 version still sitting on the factory original EZ loader trailer And I am thrilled to have found your channel just by watching I have learned so much about my boat that I did not know and I am looking forward to the day that I can join you
Same here. ‘81 hull# 2421. Launching it today for the first time after 1-1/2 years of maintenance and retrofitting it.
On the EZ loader trailer too. Nervous about how deep I will need to take the trailer down.
@@jimwarren8301 I have always figured on 5.5 ft do about 6 ft of water in order to safely float off
I'm glad that you found y channel useful. Happy sailing!
Looks like your dock would be an ideal candidate for backing into as prop walk would be in your favor. Making a right turn you’re fighting the prop walk.
Prop walk is not really an issue on an outboard equipped boat. I can turn the motor to counter any effect that prop walk would have.
@@christrouten9606 I don’t know ‘bout that, I sail an Ericson 25 and it definitely turns better to port even though I can also steer the outboard. Might be because my engine is on starboard side.
You can't sink a C25 by leaving the keel up, unless you're in the middle of a hurricane. It will heel like there's no tomorrow, toss everything in the cabin around, terrify you, and then bounce right back. Ask me how I know this. 😅
@@cuervoprov I'd be willing to say and bet on it that you probably owned one or own one
I used to sail with the keel up on real light days, too lazy to deploy it.
Nice sail! I’d be really interested in what all you’ve added to the boat. I’m considering a Catalina 25 and like how you seem to be set up.
Thanks. What is it about my setup that you are particularly interested in? I'll actually be making some changes soon to my running rigging. It currently serves the purpose but it is the bare minimum at the moment. I guess some of my future videos should include a before and after discussion of the changes I'll be making.
You can buy mine! Clearwater fl! C-25
Very good.
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi 👋🏼 Can you please tell me, even better make a video of how you reset de winding mechanism back in the normal position/place ? Because in this video you said that you don’t will do it on camera…😮 But please it would be so helpful for me :) Do you know where I can find a video for this problem ? Grtzz Nicky
I don't know where to find a video solution to your problem. Also, I no longer have any cameras of this vintage so I am not able to investigate the problem for you. Sorry, and good luck.
@@christrouten9606 oh that’s disappointing for me, but I totally understand. That’s a lot for just such quickly reaction to my question. Thnx !
I retired on my 49th birthday, and have lived all over the world since then. I've been around the world 5 times, and at 72 will continue for as long as I'm able.
I was kinda looking forward to the docking part of the video ;)
Sorry, I ran out of battery power. I'll try to get a docking video up at some point.
I retired at 39 to do the same thing making TH-cam videos traveling the Caribbean
I'd be right there with you if I was single. I wouldn't be able to convince my wife though.
I'm 39 and not retiring on my boat but I'm gonna barely work at all when I launch
@@captvaghunter I didn't retire ON my boat. I retired so that I could enjoy the finer things in life, like sailing, while I'm still healthy enough to participate in such activities.
You're sailing videos are very enjoyable. Very similar to what I do but I sail a little bit smaller of a boat precision 165
Thank you. I started on a Sunfish nearly 40 years ago and then life happened. About 30 years went by and I wasn't able to go sailing. Finally I bought a Sailfish that I had for a few years and never got the opportunity to sail. Then I found a Hobie 14 that I sailed for about 2 years before upgrading to a Catalina 22. 2 years ago I bought my current boat, this Catalina 25.
I'm watching many videos to learn to sail and this was one of the best!
Thank you. I'm glad that it was helpful to you. I know I tend to talk a lot in some of my videos. My hope is that in explaining what I'm doing and why I'm doing it, others might learn from me or offer suggestions for how I can improve my workflow and technique so I can learn something myself. What kind of boat are you learning on?
Good job. Hoping to see you bring it to the dock with that cross wind. Must have run out of battery. I sail a 27 cat solo on bigger water.
I did run out of battery that day. Fortunately for me, the thunderstorms that began moving in created a dead calm for literally the 10 minutes it took me to drop the sails and get the boat to the dock and tied up.
That a good heads up.. buy a bigger better boat.. Thank you.
We boaters and sailors are always thinking about our next bigger boat. Unfortunately (or perhaps Fortunately), due to the depth of my marina, and thier lack of support for larger sailboats, I am limited to something that drafts less than 4 feet and can be launched from a trailer. There is no mast stepping crane or tower, and no launching sling anywhere on my home water.
@@christrouten9606 Yes, you do the best you can, with what you've got.. Thank you for that. Fortunately, I live close to the Ocean, where is many options.. All the best to you..Cheers! from Van, Canada.
That was a great sail, ty I just bought my first sail boat 83 cape dory 25d... going to learn on puget sound Wa state... thanks again for the video,Subbed
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll be sailing in Puget Sound from Bellingham to the San Juans the end of July this summer. I envy you for your home sailing waters.
You have made an excellent choice, great boat.
Terrible audio.
Spot on for “how to sail a catalina 25” in person.
Brother I'm tired from just watching you. Guns, Cars, Hunting and Fishing are plenty for this old bird, Oh and family that's important too. Good to see your enjoying life my friend.
Joe! I was just cyberstalking you about a week ago wondering what you have been up to. We should get back in touch.
Great video - what lake is this?
This is C.J. Strike Reservoir in Southern Idaho.
What Garmin do you have?
I can't think of the exact model. It's a low end Echomap without touch screen. Maybe a 73cv?
Great day! Nice video!
Yes it was. My only regret was being over cautious and reefing before I got started. With the storms we had that evening, I still think it was the right thing to do though. It would have been a perfect day for full main and 110.
Thanks, it worked like a charm! Used 2 wood popsicle stick to maintain the slot space and make a form for the JB Weled to set-up. Happy guy here and saved $175 to $400 to replace it.
Nice! I started playing about a year ago and its taken a lot of practice to overcome my suckiness!
What app are you using?

On my H2 the two cogs at the bottom of the wind on spindle are not turning. What could that be please?

Very cool! I just got a later model LE M1S90 (with the longer barrel lug and thicker mag tube) with the Vang Comp sights. Any idea which XS big dot sight post they use? It’s thicker than the stock Benelli post
Glorious!

Awesome vid much appreciated nice 👍 thank you 💯🙏
Not familiar with the term “ghost loading” someone enlighten me
It is the term used for modding the gun to accommodate one additional round, loaded onto the carrier beneath a loaded chamber. The early HK guns were capable of this right out of the box but then the made a very slight machining change to the bolt that prevented it. We savvy shooters figured out how to overcome that problem, as shown in this video.
@@christrouten9606 thanks, I did find a video on it a little while ago. I duck and deer hunt with my shotguns, that looks like to me your just asking for a jam up loading it like that, but to each his own, you do you, thanks for the explanation, I don’t think I need to give that a try
It's more of a novelty than anything. This is a military and police version of the M1 with the 18 inch barrel. It's intended to be a home defense tool where additional capacity could make a life or death difference. As to reliability, this weapon has never had a failure with any ammo, even cheap bulk low brass, in the three years I've owned it. If you are only hunting, where you are legally limited to only 3 rounds, or where many follow up shots are not afforded, then this mod would bring you absolutely zero benefits.
