Jazz Guitar Improv Made Simple! (3 EASY STEPS)
Damn bro, sounds excellent, share the tabs tho
Great lesson!. Worth watching several times to not miss some details.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that
I GENUINELY did not know this and spent all my time for a decade now picking one way. I gave up on my right hand. Now thanks to you man, my guitar playing is revived
@@BDyoungster1997 wow thanks so much that really means a lot. There will be a lot more to come for sure. 😁
This is sick bro!!!
Thank you so much!
Cool lesson
Thank you!
You're basically describing what people who can't alternate/economy pick consistently, do.
No because this entails combining both. The whole purpose is to do an even amount of pick strokes per string’s regardless of the notes always ending on an upstroke. It’s a real technique. Econ picking ends on down strokes when ascending. They are 2 different things. If it was random because of not being able to do alt or Econ picking it would not have a name for it. All three have purpose behind learning them. I use all three for different purposes. Thank you for watching
That tone made my headphones bleed 🤦♂️
I do agree that this tone was awful. I usually use my tonex to record and when I pulled up to the studio I totally forgot it and I to borrow someone’s gear with some limited options. I was working with what I had unfortunately. I will make sure it’s better for the next vid
You sure you didn't just make up that term, so you could create content from it? What you're talking about, is what loads of us guitarists do intuitively anyway, without calling it a "technique".

@Patbwoy But it's still a technique.
@@cuthbertcartwright9630 Anything can be called a "special technique", but how far does it go? Is it a special technique to occasionally knock on your guitar body, or is it merely one of the sounds you can get out of your guitar? Thing with youtubers is, they are constantly looking for stuff they can talk about, so their fams don't run away. So what's more obvious than turning EVERYTHING into a topic, even if it really isn't? So here's a new technique I just discovered: I now angle my pick 2 degrees more than anybody else, and I call this technique "the pick-slant of death", because it let's me defeat every guitarist in a guitar battle! Nice technique, right? Or is it?
That exact Ibanez in that exact color was my 2nd electric guitar.
rg770 or 770dx
Yeah I love the blue color on this one

This lesson came into my TH-cam feed a few days ago and I did some woodshedding over the weekend. It resulted in a sizeable improvement in my speed and accuracy. Thanks!

Happy birthday. Thanks for watching
Just spend 10 bucks and buy a fret wrap, or no money and put some foam or cloth between your string and headstock. You don't need an entire toga to deaden your string noise.
Hahahahah I do agree. It’s just what I had at that moment.
Great lesson...... The Aha moment was building the Triads all from the 3rd-String for the Root. I scratched my head and just had to say Aha. Now I know the 3rd-String is the go-to for a mental building block for top 5 string Triads. Cool Thanks for sharing
Thank you I really appreciate that!
Clicked coz i like your guitar, i have a js32 because im poor 😂 But stuck around coz it was a good lesson So i think ill sub 👍
Wow thank you so much! That means a lot! Yes this is a DK1 custom shop!
Quality lesson here. Good job bro
Thank you so much I really appreciate that!
@@sergedroban I appreciate lessons like this. Mechanics and technique is cool but these are the types of lessons missing on TH-cam.
I like how you’re killing it on the squire.
Thank you! This squire honestly plays as good as any fender USA. I have a killer set up on it. If changed out the pickups and some hardware that would make a huge difference sound wise
Give a THUMBS UP and SMALL COMMENT really helps the channel grow! Thank you so much!
Impressive playing and great technique, but I wanted to clarify that economy picking doesn't utilise a hammer-on to sound the third note in the pattern. It should be played (when ascending patterns of three) down up down, down up down, down up down. The third note in the pattern is played with a down stroke, as is the first note in the pattern. So you transition from string to string with one down-stroke motion, in a manner of speaking. This is not to say that your method isn't viable, as you're achieving brilliant results.
Hey, I just want to say thank you for this comment. After doing some research and talking to a few other musician I know, they have confirmed that you are correct and my definition is convoluted. I was unaware that my definition was different than the actual definition of economy picking, and that what I am presenting in this video is more of a form of what one might call Partial picking. Essentially the pic strokes are the same except I am neglecting to pick the last note of the phrase and I believe the descending portion of the pattern would be different with the way you’re describing it if I’m not mistaken. Although now that you mention this, I am going to make a follow up video, addressing this mistake and demonstrate the true definition of economy, thinking as it is a single pick stroke difference, it turns . out, but a different sound for sure versus even what I am doing. Thank you for the clarification. I really appreciate it and hope I have earned your subscription nonetheless.
@@sergedroban Hey man, thanks for being so receptive towards my feedback! I hope it didn't come across as nit-picky. Regarding the technique for descending using economy picking. The method for strict economy picking would be to use an upward pick slant angle and start the pattern instead on an up-stroke and apply the picking pattern of, up down up, up down up, up down up. However, the way you demonstrated the descending technique is actually how Yngwie does it, using pull-offs. Which is to facilitate a consistent downward pick slant. I hope that all makes some sense? I'd love to see a follow up video on this, really appreciate your dedication, your videos are great! (Gained a sub)
@ thank you so much. That makes sense actually! That’s how I learned the technique was Yngwie’s solos so I just assumed he was economy pick but I guess he’s doing a hybrid of that and more gypsy picking like Django with the focus to keep the downward slant. I appreciate the feedback on this very much. Thank you.
Great video
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate that!
I have that exact guitar same guitar! RG770!

Your videos are actually pretty high quality and well informed, its kinda criminal that you only have 62 subs. Im sure you'll build up an audience in no time.
Thank you so much! Wow that means a lot! This a new channel for me! I have a separate TH-cam channel that is non music related called @sergethepurge9425 that has 3k subs.
