Looking this thing up I cant understand why anyone would purchase this. It has about a half mile of maximum range that is terrible for this price point.

Something people really overlook is that you need to stretch your legs like you’re doing push-ups. I see a lots of kiters relying only on the arm with loose legs and barely going upwind. You know you mastered your body drag when your upwind angle is better than what you get on a twintip.

Away from people and other objects

oooooh to the ocean or land. depends where the people are. We launch away from water because alot of people walk along the water front. If there was nothing to consider facing the water is probably safer if you get dragged you will go into water rather than the bushes.

Would you follow the same steps if you were in a high wind day (25 knots plus)? I had one of those during my lesson and kept crashing the kite.

Thanks can I add 1 major major warning to anyone doing this . NEVER walk in between the lines of an unweighted down nor unheld kite !! This will Be tempting as you just want to run and grab it . I did this as the quickest route and regretted it . The kite took off suddenly and I felt lines pull around by body . 0.1 second later . I was catapulted into a very hard 10 foot high wall of hard packed sand and stone . There was no trace of marks in the beach as it jusy picked be up . Luckily it was 45 degree to the wall and I was just about okay . But what an impact . It could have been worse and dragged me over the whole island !!

Where can i buy a kite and board relatively cheap to start? Any recommendations?

The coverage was rubbish, they only showed the medal races. I thought this was a massive letdown by the organisers and media, especially being a new sports to the Olympics..... Formula kiting is far more of a spectacle than 420's bobbing about at 5knts..... Congrats to Ellie Aldridge though 🤙

What does "blag" mean? fake?

During landing after someone catches your kite for your safety take the loop from the hook and stay on the leash until your kite will be well protected.
