He looks like he is the best friend of Winston Churchill.
1:11 An overdose of what? Somebody help me out.
“An overdose of Bon Bois”. Bon Bois is a cognac region in France so the comment doesn’t make complete sense. In essence what Bond is saying that it’s a class 4 cognac overblended with a class 5 cognac, not a class 1 Grande Champagne cognac.
@@michaelschramm1064 I thank you, sir.
@@yowzephyr Happy to assist!
A Silencer increases muzzle velocity.
Why would it do that?
M is the archetypal civil servant.
doesn't want the spare magazine?
Bond don't need no spare magazine he just stares them down if he runs out of bullets.
Anyone else here cuz of Forgotten Weapons? (And Bond in general?)
None of Guy Hamiltons Bond movies looked like this. Still feels like Terence Young!
Truly unpleasant detail at the very end of the clip. If I were Bond I'd respond: "Terribly sorry, but if you'd like me to visit Q branch tomorrow, I'll take gold with me today" 😂😂 This is trouble with the British - allways expecting their finest to risk a life, whilst at the same time being so stingy about a bar of damaged Nazi gold. Horrible manners 🎉❤
M's relationship with Connery's bond was magical.
Seeing this scene again, I've noticed something, but I may be wrong. While asking "why moving it?" (referring to gold), Bond moves the Brandy bottle, passing it to the Colonel, who previously expressed his disapproval for it; in that moment, the Colonel, while, on turn, passing the bottle to M, says that gold value varies from country to country, saying it is 30 dollars/oz in England and, while saying 110/oz in Pakistan, M, who had previously expressed approval for that Brandy, is seen smelling and appreciating it. It seems like Brandy (with its brownish warm colour) represents gold, Bond represents Goldfinger, Colonel Smith represents England and M for Pakistan.
£5000 for a huge brick of gold. If it were real a brick that size would weigh over 20 kilogrammes. They wouldn't be carrying it around so lightly!
Hi Lady Moneypenny ask the question a scene from the movie J.F.K the Movie.
I’d like to see the outtake where the armorer starts taking off his jacket at 0:18
I was shocked to hear that the actor of Col. Smithers was only 39 at the time. Jesus Christ. What did people do to their bodies back then?
@@xn0_GamingAlt smoke and drink 🤣
What I love is that they had a full dinner before they started even discussing what they came around for.
Why didn't my father buy gold at $30/oz and leave me a ton or so?
5000 pounds and today 5 million pounds
0:55 I thought he was a banker. Lol
Very dry remark about the lecture. I bet in 1964 theatres it was howling.
Lois Maxwell - seriously beautiful in this.
Im not sure what looks less convincing, the punches in james bond movies, or the cigar clipping
Is that Sir Desmond the banker from Yes Minister?
Yes he plays the banker in YM & YPM
how do you follow a man who too good a new bond black hair and at list as goodlooking ar better looking instance reconision good luck
I am traumatized by this scene. Bond wearing a notch lapel dinner jacket!
Leave it to filmmakers to put three wonderfully cozy and engaging scenes from the books, showcasing the personalities and plot points of the characters, and turn it into one bland and boring scene in a cardboard set with three identical looking old men and Bond, trying to steal the scene with a cheap exposition. Goldfinger's first half of the plot may have been a total formulaic ripoff of Casino Royale and Moonraker, but at least Fleming fleshed it out with beautiful meaningful scenes and dialogue.
Exactly how I imagine business-meetings.
New Bond movies need to go back to this age of Bond.
Too bad they did not keep this form of value for money.
Mr. Vernon was also in 'A Hard Days' Night (both 1964)...how ghaustly...
On the train...towards the beginning..."I fought the war for your sort"...
“I travel on this train regularly”
Bernard Lee' smirk of power and rank, at the end ,is so well judged.
One of the few interesting scenes in an otherwise overrated film.
Nice to see Sir Desmond.
Working in Q branch would be the best job ever.
I bet Beretta makers were furious over this scene.
Bond comes off as almost autistic in this movie.
Love the way M says..." You'll draw it from Q branch.." to reassert his dominance over Bond for the bon bois lesson!
The man sitting right to Bond is playing the banker 'Sir Desmond' in the BBC series 'Yes MInister'
“ Colonel Smithers “ love it . All all men , no Judi Dench as M please
Does gold have a molecular diff from diff locations on the earth and thus traceable?
'M' definitely doesn't like Bond: he may respect him as a top agent but he doesn't like him judging by the way he talks to him and looks at him.
Love the movie but the BOOK is even better. Bond books contain so many more fantastic scenes like this.
Fleming was a master at setting up scenes like this. His chapter devoted to the bridge match between Bond/M and Hugo Drax is better than anything witnessed in the film.
2:32 Mr Bond can make use of it what he sees fit. Next scene. Bond is in an Amsterdam whorehouse off his tits on cocaine
For reference at todays gold prices a bar of gold is worth around £725,000 or $940,000
Fleming ran off with his issue .25 Browning, at wars end. Just like in this scene. The gun wound up in his estate. Gun could have been a Colt ,.25 1908, serial number matches, or a FN, 1906, basically the same gun ...
5000 Pounds .....LOL
Worth 5,000 Pounds.
I always wondered why in these dinner scenes in movies, the conversation the viewer needs to see and hear, is always held at the end of their meal. Why didn't they discuss this important issue when eating? They were probably served at least four courses. Why wait until the coffee, cigars and brandy?
£5000 in 1964 would be £85,845.74 today. Which is $109,766.66 USD
£5k for the gold bar…I’ll take two at that price, currently over £750k for 12.5kg bar! 🧐
The Cold War bond era is still my favorite!
