Baofeng K5 Pro turned into police scanner using CHIRP in about two minutes
It’s perfectly legal to use any Baofeng radio as a receiver to listen on any open source frequency. Turn your Baofeng into a police scanner using CHIRP & an account linked in CHIRP from radio reference dot com
Super easy to do
Look up any city or zip code location in CHIRP query, copy/paste into your radio file then upload to radio & begin scanning
Enjoy!

The multi-switch has a voltage meter which accurately shows me how many volts I have on charge. The recharge cable is tucked in behind the radio antenna port. Tomato update, moon phase planting & do I cheat in my garden?

Surprising results from seed starts. Some chat about planting by moon phase and also a debate with myself on garden cheats. What do you think?
Chicken chat. Incubate your own eggs & grow your flock. Unlimited free eggs 🥚

Lots of ways to get a backyard flock going. If you already have your own flock and you’ve got a rooster you can really add to your flock quickly every 21 days using an inexpensive incubator I got mine on Amazon at: www.amazon.com/Hethya-incubators-Fahrenheit-Automatic-Incubators/dp/B0BF4112HM

When the one I have incubaking now, are done. I am going to put the egg turner in the incubator run just the turner as I collect eggs I will put then in the turner till it is full then I will put in the water, put the top on, and start the heat & timer... I will see of this helps with hatching. I feel the turner will work great for keeping eggs ready to hatch while collecting them up.

Why wouldn't you water them? That seems counterproductive. Last year I started several tomato plants with a slice of tomato oh, I had really great results oh, I had really great results but I did water the Tomato slice into the dirt after I planted it. Nothing is going to really grow in dry soil.

I wonder if the planting by the moon is more for in ground not indoors because as you know it’s the pull the moon has on water underground. There is a bit more to it when you consider the zodiac sign the moon is in. Almanac has that also.

While a nice video, you have unfortunately too many variables not accounted for to make active repeatable scientific results. You can only make generalizations as you have no control sampling, as in accounting different micro conditions. Granted it is too large and expensive of a project for the average gardener to make a control group, but unfortunately I cannot say it will turn out in a similar manner as it is just raw unrepeatable data.

I've started seeds for leeks, bunching onions, shallots, and onions. If they don't grow like I want I'll buy onion starts. I want a garden, not someone's idea of what a gardener should be. I also bought some green onions from the store, planted them and placed those pots on my table. As the shoots come up, I cut them off and use them. Is this cheating to have fresh onion greens in my kitchen to use as I want? I'm from the N Central part of Texas so it's good to have found another gardener in TX. I also have two types basil growing in my kitchen window. Got those from The grocery store and just keep starting new plants rooted in water when I need them. I have tomatoes come up every spring from composting tomatoes....either over ripe or seeds from the juice when I cut them to slice. I bury my kitchen scraps right in my containers. What survives the dog digging them, grows free plants.

Interesting experiments Luke. Thanks for doing it and then filming the results you've gotten so far. I have noticed that a cherry tomato will live and flourish when nothing else will...lol. They come up voluntarily in my garden all year long. Unbelievable little genetics in those guys. I also try to plant according to the moon. First time I tried something according to moon phase was mowing the yard. If you want to have to mow less, do it when the moon is declining. This also works for men getting fewer haircuts. Things just grow back more slowly when cut during the wane of the moon. It applies across the board. Moisture, warmth and soil is key to germination---but good, viable seeds make a big difference or the other 3 components won't help much. Thanks for an interesting video. Jesus bless.

you are correct .. no you are not cheating .. our elders have been using the moon phases for so long and for so many things over the years .. and these "old wives tales" have worked for them and for so many others very very well and true over the years

I'm like that too. Each year I say I'm going to keep track and by time I get to transplanting, I have no idea. Recently saw a video from David the Good. He dumped all his old lettuce seed in a jar and planted...I like hat idea!

  • @ChrisAllen-cq7dv

I like using seeds sets. But, this year I'm trying the Globo onion seeds from Baker Creek. I've also had great success cutting up and planting starter potatoes from the store. Have you tried buying a few garlic bulbs at the grocery, and planting the individual cloves? I tried that a few years ago but I made the mistake of planting them next to other plants that required a lot of water. The garlic suffered from rot. Live and learn.
