The Best Advice I Wish I Knew Earlier in My Tech Career
มุมมอง 1.9K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is to specialise in one area. Companies value experts - even in narrow fields - as long as the expertise is valuable. My number one suggestion? Figure out what you enjoy doing most and focus on that. Specialization is the key to standing out in tech.

Sir how much does a software engineer at your level and experience earn a year in uk? Please reply. Thanks a lot.
It really depends on multiple factors, such as location, company and experience. However, a senior engineer can expect to make between £60k - £100k. A Lead or Manager can expect to make between £90k - £130k. I would also recommend taking a look at average salaries listed on Glassdoor.com, as that information is usually quite accurate and up to date! Thank you for the support.
Thanks for making your series. These are precious insights into the process. Your content is pretty captivating. I have limited understanding of your industry but I'm excited for you and your journey. Subbed!
Thank you for your kind words and support. I’m excited to share this journey with you!
Are you going to use vercel to deploy??
Vercel is a very viable option. I haven't quite made that decision yet, but very likely to be Vercel, yes!
How long should i wait until asking for funding?
It's a complicated question, as it completely depends on what you're building, if there is a clear go to market strategy and a revenue generation plan, and also if you can present tangible data that supports your market growth proposal. I would suggest, if you are in the process of building an app, make sure you build an app that clearly solves a problem, then go from there!

I'm intrigued by your slide deck and the process behind it. Does everyone on the team share a deck like this or is it only your responsibility as an engineering manager (therefore, at what point to your collect the information and compile it into the deck) ? Moreover, are the sections (e.g. SRE, Manual QA, etc.) always the same or do they depend on your priority of the moment ?
Great question! As the engineering manager, it’s my responsibility to present the slide deck every Monday morning. However, I don’t compile it entirely on my own-each team lead (e.g., SRE, QA, etc.) provides their team’s updates to me by Friday. This process ensures that I have enough time to consolidate everything and prepare the deck for the Monday meeting. The structure of the deck is relatively consistent, with sections for updates from each team, such as SRE, QA, Development, and Releases. While many sections remain the same week-to-week, the content-especially in areas like Development and Releases-often changes depending on current priorities and progress. For example, if the SRE team is working on a new Kubernetes deployment, it wouldn’t be expected to finish within a week. However, including it in the slides provides visibility into ongoing work and helps stakeholders understand the team’s focus. It also serves as a cross-functional scrum touchpoint.
