African Cat Very Active

I like this music, sounds like the tropic island version of "somewhere over the rainbow" that they play in one of those Adam Sandler movies (50 first dates i think)

Its only by the grace of GOD that Rottweiler didn't rip him to shreads.

I adopted a 4 month kitten from our local animal shelter about 7 months ago. Very quickly we began to realize she wasn't quite like normal kitties. I am 99.9% sure she is an African Wildcat. She looks, and plays, EXACTLY like these two. I'm sure people say that often, but this really is the case. Not only does she have the exact same coat, silver, with black stripes/ speckles and shades of a golden hue. She also has the rusty color on the back of her ears, along with black paw pads and every marking typical to a African Wildcat. Indications of strong African Wildcat genes. I do believe she is a hybrid of some sort, with an African wildcat parent, mixed with a typical domestic short hair, who presumably put the kitten up for adoption rather than raising it. As as kitten, we assumed she was just a typical tabby. We first noticed her very small head, coupled with massive erect ears. She then began to hit a growth spurt, and she grew unusually long legs for a typical housecat. She stands at over 12 inches at the shoulder, very strikingly tall and lanky looking. I thought perhaps she was a later generation savannah cat, until I came across African wildcat videos. She displays many wildcat tendencies, requires ample playing time and supervised outside time. She plays a bit rough, but ultimately is a sweet girl who quickly developed a strong individual bond with me, although she has a good relationship with both of my parents as well. I'm sure many will have their doubts reading this, yet anyone who see's her in person immediately notices how unique her characteristics are, and always ask me what breed she is. I plan to have a DNA test done, to see if that sheds any light. Maybe at some point I'll put together some videos of her growing up, and how it's been raising her.

Hi Michele: Just a tip from an old farm girl - don't let him push the bottle away. Push back. They instinctively know that they have to push hard against mom hard to get the milk flowing so he'll want to push and you should hold firm. Check with your vet, but I think I've got that right. This is a great video, and he's just such a sweet little fellow. And of course, I love Nikita.
