Mt. Franklin, about 9 km North of Daylesford in Central Victoria, is a terrific spot. There's a campground and picnic area in the centre of its long-extinct crater. You can drive from there a little higher to the North rim, for spectacular views of Northern and Western Victoria. There's also a fire spotting tower in the North crater rim.
Thank you for your comment. I have captured that dormant volcanoe in another one of my videos. Check out the link below. th-cam.com/video/MgnxQyvRuDI/w-d-xo.html
i lived in and around the area for decades. been to all of them: * side note: i also witnessed a "large" black cat at Mt rouse while cycling up it from about 10 metres away. not a panther, but rather an abnormally large black feral cat, probably about 4-5 feet in length.
@@markatmelbournefpv I’m in VIC too. I have been keeping an eye on Iceland Grindavik/Svatzengi volcanic activity and love the drone flying with Just Icelandic and Isak Finbogasson, both have amazing footage and interesting to compare the green ancient volcanic landscape here with their “black fields of fire cones”. Next fissure eruption due very soon, within next few weeks, lava is amazing live by drone! But so are our hills and mountains and beaches and rivers…..
We’ve concreted over the one on our farm in case it ever erupts, although we fear the igneous gases and lava will probably just pop up somewhere else as a result.
I lived around these a lifetime ago and I regret not paying them enough attention when I had such easy access to them. I even installed the GSM equipment in the base station cabin on Mt Noorat and that view was breath-taking.
Thanks, Mark. 😊

I have heard about that cat. Did you manage to get a photo of it?
you should check out lake Bullen Merry, it's the deepest point of Victoria, 3x deeper than the bay, also a volcano.
