Heavy Nonsense with Analog Heat, Digitakt, Octatrack and Digitone
Plugged in a bunch of Elektron boxes and made something heavy. Then at like 3:19 I used the Analog Heat to make some nonsense. Hope you dig it.
0:00:00 Heavy
0:03:19 Nonsense
The Digitakt and Digitone are going into the Octatrack on inputs AB and CD, then the main out of the Octatrack is going into the Analog Heat. The Octatrack is providing midi clock/transport to the Digitakt and Digitone.

Going from Ableton to Octatrack
มุมมอง 14K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Sometimes I'll take a track I've been playing with in Ableton and bounce it into clips so I can play with it on the Octatrack. Here's a little video describing how I do that as well as what I do once it's on there.

I can get lost for hours playing with these boxes. They're not typical synths at all and can go from sort of classic analog waveforms to hellish shriek sounds. I have little idea how they actually work. How I sample my modular stuff on my Octatrack

Making a beat on the Octatrack from scratch: Part 2
มุมมอง 1.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Building on the project I started in th-cam.com/video/SS9PEQshv6E/w-d-xo.html. In this one we add some more parts, some more scenes, and also there's a new snare. As always, let me know if you have any questions about anything I do here and I'll try my best to answer them. Or if I'm doing something stupid also please let me know that too.
Making a beat on the Octatrack from scratch: Part 1
มุมมอง 2.8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Trying something new. Let me know if it's good or boring. Starting from a blank project, let's work on a jam. I try to explain my decisions as I make them. I've also edited out tons of rabbit holes and also places where I got confused and wasn't sure what I was talking about (most of them at least). I hope this is interesting but I'd take any and all feedback you might have. Also let me know if...

you get much better results than the typical freeze delay/delay ctrl trig menu, by setting Send to about 14, then locking the scene delay "Send" param to "0" with fdbk up all the way, volume up all the way, then set the time differently for every beat-repeat. the reason you set it to 14 instead of just 1 or something, is because it *zips* when fading if you dont, in a nasty way but i think 14 is the sweet spot when sliding the fader to zero on the delay send when set to lock in the secondary menu.

I was losing a little love from my OT and was thinking of moving back to Ableton. This made me realise ai can have both sometimes. But all up I really like the idea of just making beats on Ableton.

these things always looked super basic to me but I had never heard them in action before... and they sound nuts! Really fat and gnarly! o_O Thanks a lot for the demos :) Might be difficult to use them in a piece of music though, tuning them is probably not the point so likely quite some work after the fun recording sessions^^

It's funny how both overrated (TE fanclub) and underrated (complaints of no screen and price/perfomance ratio) OP-Z is. Fun, approachable, accessible, usable even with no screen, yet extremely flexible for what it is. It has character, man. A perfect musical toy but also quite a capable instrument on it's own. I would say only a few bad things about it - 1. Quality control (a lot of people report bending issues, i had unit with no bend at all), 2. TE kinda milks it with modules Regret selling mine, but it was a good time :)

This video really saved my brain.. I took a deep dive into modular last year and put together a really expansive couple of cases that at first, I really loved but increasingly started feeling this overwhelming sense of “this is great and now wtf do I do with this patch?” It was like I was paralyzed not knowing how to capture what I was doing in a way that would allow me to actually use anything to make an actual song. This video completely flipped my brain into a clear path. Thank you for sharing this.

I've had it a while. Coming from modular synths, it's pretty easy and intuitive to program. I usually don't use it in this context though. Normally it's just on my guitar pedalboard where I use it as a phaser/fuzz/compression pedal.
