Anyone know if i can go under the footing rather than through it to my sump pit?
@@dan4659 as long as you got good slope to the sump inside yes
Do you put gravel under corrugated or on top of dirt?
No we don't here in Saskatchewan, Canada
I would put gravel on top, the idea is to filter out the bigger fines from the backfill
Where’s the tile?
No drainage systems last forever. Their actual lifespan is like 30 years max. They still usually work after that, but not like they were designed. Of course if you're in a desert or somwhere, maybe you get a bit longer...
30 years is easy to beat with PVC. That thin black plastic pipe sags over time and does not usually survive cleaning. Unfortunately, it often takes a change in building codes to force people to build things that last for generations.
@@vtrandal The material of the pipe is hardly the main problem. The only drainage that works easily longer than 30 years is having your house in a gravel pit or on top of some bedrock with slopes away from the house.
They can be built to last longer. It just takes more time, effort and attention. Using gravel, filter fabric and then 1&1/2" clean stone with smooth wall sdr35 or triple wall pvc with 1" pitch per 10' makes it last a long time and servicable.
@@johnjmariettijr5671 Only if you live somwhere where there isn't a lot of vegetation.. Otherwise you are bound to get stuff stuck in your drainage, gravel getting siltrd, roots growing in to pipes, ground shifting etc etc.
@@vtrandal explain to me why it doesn't survive cleaning.
Why not spend a hair more and install perforated hard PVC pipe? This system needs to last forever, and in my experience that black ribbed pipe never made it long
A bit more here, a bit more there. No one wants to hear it's cutting into their profits lol. Should be spec'd properly in the first place. This is standard builder fair and better than nothing. Lasts long enough that the homeowner forgets about the Builders' responsibility.
