I just purchased a wheelset ex471 because i was worried about my weight riding on carbon. As soon as I lose 30lbs. maybe I'll invest. I need to get back to 175lbs. like I was before the pandemic.

I never recommend any carbon bike to anyone over 180 lbs and the includes carbon wheels. Yes they are rated for higher weights but you will then deal with either bottom bike creaking, seat creaks and other potential issues such as when you get a flat tire and ride on a carbon rim, too much breaking on carbon rim brakes etc. get a Steel or alloy frame, aluminum wheels and avoid all these issues.

I'm a biker and never seen a cyclist treat the trashing of a carbon wheel with such good spirit. Cycling is a hard sport.

It's likely the wheel has exploded due to rim brake set with its pads. Maybe the pads were not properly to carbon wheels and the wheel got too hot

Honestly this is the best reason for disc brake carbon wheels making their way to road bikes. However, im still not making the switch on my TT bike. I dont think theres any positive diffence overall. Better braking yeah, but slightly worse aerodynamics. I think it's better to stay traditional (in that one area) on a time trian bike.

Some wheels do have a rider weight limit… fyi. 😶
