Uridium (Commodore 64) - 150,000+ run
มุมมอง 3225 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my highest ever score on Uridium, a game that keeps on giving. I reached level 11 so maybe in another 33 years' time I'll have completed it... In this run, I lost lives in batches a couple of times, mostly by trying to be too clever. If I can cut that out, I should get further.
Knight Lore C64

Just a very quick game to demonstrate the speed of the newly-released Commodore 64 version of Knight Lore. Yes, you read that correctly. Knight Lore... on the Commodore 64. I'm rubbish at it.
Manic Maker second try

My second quick attempt at using Manic Maker, the upcoming tool from flashbangstudio.uk. This time, I've pulled together a quick Blagger screen. There are some great possibilities with this platfrom construction kit!
Manic Maker first try

I'm not a technical person, but after only half an hour of using the brilliant tool, Manic Maker, I was able to bang out this simple screen. Manic Maker is an upcoming platform game construction kit from flashbangstudio.uk.
Uridium (Commodore 64)

Andrew Braybrook's stunning, classic, seminal blaster. This was a fun play which ended when the attack ships got a bit too aggressive on level 7. What I love about this game is that if you make mistakes, you have the opportunity to rebuild your game (as evidenced here!).
Hook (Commodore 64)

This is a gameplay video of Ocean Software's late release, Hook. Not a bad game, but the multiload is horrendous. Cassette users must have hated it!
Kung-Fu Master (arcade)
มุมมอง 1.7K9 ปีที่แล้ว
One of my favourite games, ever. I was challenged to provide a score for the Ten Pence Arcade podcast... this is one of my best ever runs, I think. Not bad on an emulator with a 360 controller!
Sleepwalker (Commodore 64)
มุมมอง 2.3K9 ปีที่แล้ว
This was Ocean Software's last game for the Commodore 64. It's a good one, but it takes more practice than I put in to learn how to play it well. Produced for the excellent Commodore Format Archive: commodoreformat.wordpress.com/
Demon Blue (Commodore 64)

Cute and very pretty platform game. Quite tough, but enjoyable enough to warrant a decent session of gaming.

Championship 3D Snooker (Commodore 64)

This is Championship 3D Snooker on the Commodore 64, by Zeppelin Games. It's not very snooker-like! Not bad if you fancy something a bit more arcade-like, though.
Betrayal (Commodore 64)

I played this three times to make a video of it, and kept messing it up. This is the longest I managed to get... I don't think I can bring myself to play it any more!

Thanks and long live to mr. Hubbard for Road Rash soundtracks👍. They were SO good and catchy I can remember them still after 20+ years. Even Japan theme from RR3.
I grew up with these tunes, sometimes not even playing the games but only listening to their tunes. You simply cannot understand the impact it made when you were not there back then.
I’d still rather listen to the original - modern renditions take away the magic for me.
No mention of Max Hall I've noticed. Now he is seriously crap
True master remember Saboteur 2 on amstarad cpc 464 wow !
Amstrad CPC? Lol
0:21 Oh no she didn't' "Sounds a bit basic", excuse me woman, Commodore had the best catchy melodies of all time, still unmatched today, hardly anything is catchy these days, today's rubbish is less than basic, back then it was purely professional, I think because once Commodore was over, you can't beat or match what was already perfect, so they gave up trying. One thing for sure it's awesome to see Commodore official "Commodore" that is, has made a return, just goes to show, you can't kill Commodore, I welcome Commodore with open arms. Hey Rob, it's Zro, your homie, love your work as always, never stop creating, have a good one buddy.
The elegance that comes from the symphony is just breathtaking.
Incredible! Inspiration beyond the obvious and beyond. Rob Hubbard is a Gift!
Nice! Would be cool to hear the three separate tracks for Commando :)
Astounding
He shoul be called Sid Hubbard.
And people say theres no way Hull should have got UK City of Culture 2017. This is my Exhibit A on why it deserved it
I am so happy Rob's and the other chip artists music lives on like this! I loved the music back in the 80:s and it has followed med through life since then. Whenever I listen to it it really brightens my day and I often have it in the background when I work.
Thank heavens for composers like Rob Hubbard for taking the time and care to overhaul computer music. They could have just 'dialed it in' and taken the pay cheque but they took the time to put in the extra effort.
I've never heard SID pronounced as an abbreviation but good job overall!
'And the sound came from this chip'... Showing any other chip of the C64, just not a SID 😂
lol, saw that too
You are a bellend. Sad little man.
No Orchestra Commando... DENIED!
props for founding the Church of Scientology
I remember we’d build a fort and pretend we’d be inside our own tank. Childhood man… nothing beats it.
The idea of combining three simple tracks together to make a more complex tune is something still relevant as its what Ed Sheeran does with his loop pedal
It’s staggering what they did with memory they had. I was one of those that got games purely because Rob was on it. Still listen to the tunes. Man is a genius in my book.
The whole hall in Hull was overhauled.
Legend!
His Skate or Die 2 soundtrack stunned my 5 year old self
People have very few heroes. This man is one of the real heroes of 40+ yo guys. And will be after his death.
One thing this missed, IMO, isn't even really the quality of the music that does it, but it's how it fits the atmosphere of what's going on in game. It was vital in these days of low resolution, low colour depth graphics to have something to help set the tone and get your imagination in gear, which helped turn those basic images on screen turn into, in Commando for instance, a battlefield, rather than a big brown screen with smatterings of greenery and/or roads.
Rob is The Goat ❤
Rob Hubbard is a king for C64's fans
Typical of the BBC to insert the Spectrum into the Commodore 64's musical thunder.
Commando was his epitome, I suppose. And the game itself was actually beatable, unlike most other C64 games that wasted my childhood in frustration... 🙃
What buttons is she pressing on that joystick?
To mention the music of the Spectrum and the C64 in the same sentence is a major crime. 😉🤣
I totally agree with you.
Millions of people listened to this music in the 80s. Probably more than some notable recording artists. It was way fewer that paid for it because the games were heavily copied.
Mr Hubbard is, and will always be, an absolute legend. I just wish someone had told kate that the zipstik doesn't have a fire button on the top of the stick.
When clueless GenX´ler talk about things that only nerdy Boomers understand...
The hours lost to this in my youth….. what a game. The tension when you tried to take over a MUCH higher ranked droid when in the 001 unit and the satisfaction when it worked
C64 At The Proms.......make it happen
You have no idea how much I have lobbied for this, but they decided to orchestra Tim Follin's "Chronos" instead.
I was one of those who would buy the game just for the music and not bother playing the game, I would recorded them to tape so I could listen to them out and about on my Walkman. Rob was definitely the best.
One of the VERY BEST C64 soundtracks EVER! 👍🙏😉
Thanks for the music Rob 👍
"Let's feature the original Music!" - "Okay, let's pick parts where the music is overlayed by SFX noises!"
Rob Hubbard and Martin Galway. The two pillars of 80's gaming for many.
Rob is a really nice guy. I was privileged to meet him while he was at Electronic Arts.
Hie dare they mention the Spectrum linking it to the SID. The SID in the C64 was ahead of its time. Even the ST struggled to beat it.
My kid has Reason for making music on his computer and one of the demo songs was a remake of the Commando music by Rob Hubbard and it was AMAZING!
Habe ich damals zu Weihnachten bekommen von meiner Schwester !!! War ein tolles Spiel !!!
The Road Rash soundtracks that he composed were incredible
I remember getting for Christmas from whsmith it never loaded up my mum took it back got money back shame I never got to play it! I got a nes soon after
Outstanding!
what a legend, I still prefer the old Sid Chip Sound.
