Welcome to my channel! Music, Outdoors, Monday Night Playalong Bluegrass Jams & an occasional CAbin video.
Grant Farm - Colors - WinterWonderGrass Steamboat
With the changing leaves of Fall came a need to organize & back up files, which brought up this wintry gem that I had not seen for some time. Grant Farm was the main project from 2010-2020. The Pandemic shut things down for us & we called an indefinite hiatus.
New doors opened for all four band members. Sometimes the Universe tells you to keep pushing & sometimes & tells you to do something different. Today I feel sentimental for the Music & Mythology that we created, and also grateful for the post-Grant Farm opportunities that we have all experienced.
Sean & Kevin are raising beautiful families. Ace is busy as ever, mainly touring with Madeline Hawthorne. Ace & I have both been sober & healthy the last several years.
Me, well you've seen what I've been up to. As always, I'll keep you posted!
"Colors" was written by Sean "Magic" Macaulay, who was responsible for much of the Mythological backbone & stories of our later era. This was filmed by Steve Wilner at WinterWonderGrass Festival in Steamboat Springs, CO on Feb 24, 2017.
Adrian "Ace" Enfger - Bass/Vocal
Kevin "Money" McHugh - Keyboards/Vocal
Sean "Magic" Macaulay - Drums

The Birds Were Singing Of You - Tyler Grant & Nabanita "Bonnie" Sarkar
มุมมอง 165หลายเดือนก่อน
This old Carter Family number was the first song that Bonnie & I ever sang together on our tour of India with the Bluegrass Journeymen in Feb 2024. We have sure enjoyed the opportunity to perform duet concerts while Bonnie is in the USA. Here is a fine moment from Powderhorn Farms in Longmont, CO on Sept 20, 2024. The children were having a blast, and that joyful background sound doesn't bother...
San Juan Punt - Tyler Grant - Playing The Place

Here I am on the Upper San Juan River, framed by canyon walls loaded with 300 million year-old ocean fossils, in front of a beautiful replica of a San Juan Punt, captained by & built by Brad Dimock, river guiding legend & founder of Fretwater Boat Works in Flagstaff, AZ. The San Juan Punt was designed by Norman Nevills, pioneer river runner & one of the first commercial outfitters. Norman began...
Banna - Nabanita "Bonnie" Sarkar & Tyler Grant
มุมมอง 1902 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a song that we learned while traveling through the state of Rajasthan, India, on tour with The Bluegrass Journeymen. Bonnie sourced it from an album by the band Musafir, and received help with the regional Marwari dialect from our shuttle driver, Umed. "Banna" tells the story of one who was left alone by their lover in Bharat (India) and is wasting away their youth in their father's hou...

I was always impressed w her singing & musicianship, & today I am even more impressed w how well she has connected to our American music culture & the bonds she has forged w the acoustic music community. She is a unique talent & an exceptional person. Bravo, Bonnie!...

Thanks for doing Whose Shoulder...I love that song and actually have been doing it slower like the Caleb Klauder version...feels like it fits the topic, for me. a fiddle player who likes to sing. Maybe more a country-feel since it's slower, with a lot of opportunity for juicy fiddle (and dobro!) breaks - but I just like them all!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
The guy must have rubber bands on his balls to hit those high harmonies. 😳
Better the third listen. So damn close.Maybe just a low harmony , this is bothering me now. lol.
Perfect instrumentation. Needs 3 guys (sorry) and a better second guitar part and mandolin playing.,if done that way this would bring any house down! But the vocals are great here, a few places need tightening. You should never hear the harmony singers by themselves. Either at the beginning or end of a phrase, even for a very short time. You are there to raise the main vocal, nothing more. Get a third very tight harmony. You guys need me producing it for you. It would get millions of view. What a blast. To be fair I could tell the mando player was learning the tune …perhaps with some time. Also to be fair, this beats most of the Dead versions. But Jerry in 1977 really played this one well. Overall B+
Beautifully composed and played. Gonna learn that one!
Nice arrangement there, very tasty.
Thank you, very helpful 👌 I'm giving it a go myself and just, bravo 👏
Great performance. I’m in awe. I’ve never played a gig in a blizzard.
Really? Columbus Day? No need to get political. I’m out.
The holiday formerly known as Columbus Day was officially changed to Indigenous Peoples Day. Nothing political here. Columbus was a tyrant who enslaved those he conquered, and the good people of our country are finally acknowledging the genocide and enslavement of those who were here before. I think that is an honorable and worthy cause. What is your issue with this?
Dude, you play great, and know a lot of cool tunes. I'm pretty new to bluegrass, and loving it. I got a couple jams nearby, and cool friends to play and sing with. Your vids are fun. You're a water dog, like me, but I'm surfing, no rivers near here.
aw man was just wondering when the next one would drop. Thanks Tyler!
Wow Tyler this is some of the best pickin I’ve heard from you. Absolutely killer breaks. I’m savin this to go back and steal some licks/tendencies. I’m proud to say I at least held on on Black Mountain Rag!
Wish I caught this live, Sipping my coffee here at Long Island, NY around 5:30 am here and it’s a pleasure to watch and listen, thanks Tyler 🤙
Really like East Bound Freight Train, lots of colorful canvas to paint!
Very nice man, wonderful sounding guitar and obviously exceptional playing. If I were blindfolded I'd have guessed this was a far larger acoustic.
Hey Tyler! I just recently joined your artistwork lessons here and found your TH-cam channel here. First time I stumbled across you was Truefire on an Allman Brothers tutorial you did so well on Blue Sky. The way you went into it so clearly and in depth I was pretty much instantly a fan man.... thanks. Your guitar playing is nothing short of phenomenal :) Best regards, Tommy~
Thanks, Tommy! See you on a Video Exchange.
Very Nice, Thank You.
I was lucky enough to be standing by Jared Finck's booth at IBMA last Saturday when you recorded two numbers. What a hidden gem, you are an amazing duo. Was a real highlight of the conference for me. I hope you post those recordings.
Hey thank you! We are looking forward to seeing the videos from IBMA
I like your original; Last day on the job. I caught on quick enough, it's catchy, and jams always have previously unknown songs. Btw, I'm friends with Sandy, play often with her brother Mike.
It's a fun one to jam to, with the metronome on the mando chops or evens.
12 bar blues? I count 16 bars in the verse. 8 in the 2nd part. Great picking!
Love Night on the River. Love jammin on the chorus for sure. I can't wait, may skip ahead to Colleen Malone, a fave of mine.
I didn't know Chuck Norris was also a dynamite flat picker!
Sounds amazing Tyler! Really great tune.
Thank you!
Hands down fabulous pickin sir 🙏
Hi Tyler - thanks for doing this. Would it be okay for me to download your jam videos and record a duet with banjo and harmony vocals someday, then repost to TH-cam?
That is fine! Please include a link to the playlist so folks can find the Playalong Jams th-cam.com/play/PLTdEJR2u-477ePqK3RK82uibm_45DDYB5.html&si=qnI25_hh_LGnKwC_

Looks wonderful. Thanks for these videos and the jam videos, Tyler
Very Nice
You made this look easy! Amazing dude you absolutely crushed this.
I am about to be picking up a stand up bass and i cant wait to go thru all of your jam videos and play along (or attempt to lol ) ! I have been watching your videos the past week! Saturday cant come soon enough ! Thanks for this !
Thx so much for postin this. Very rare places in Austria to jam with people. So this actually comes close. :)
Beautiful!!
Wonderful!
Great run! Great video! I got to run it twice this year. Had a wonderful run in April and an absolutely terrible run in August haha, but still managed to stay upright.
S...O beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love Red Wing, that was one of the first songs I learned when I started playing guitar, but it was Union Made (never was afraid) Great session. Thank you!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🫡
Just wanted to say how much I love these. I haven't made any of these live yet, but I've been going through the old ones and using them to practise. I feel like I'm really making some progress because I can be at a jam any time. Please keep on going, even if people aren't watching live, we're still appreciating your work.
Thank you for these playalong jams Tyler!
You are welcome! Thanks for stopping by
