E46 M3 (S54) Intake & Idle Control Valve Maintenance + Replacing TPS's
Today's Video is more of a tutorial but of course I had to throw in some backroad runs in the end!
I'll be diving into the depths of my engine bay today by taking apart the whole intake assembly in order to clean the ITB's (Independent throttle bodies) and the ICV (Idle Control Valve). Being as everything will be out of the way this would also be a great time to replace your TPS's (Throttle Position Sensor).
Which I will be showing you guys all of the above in today's video... enjoy :)

because my e38 740i automatic only burnout at 2000rpm, it doesn't have traction control installed and i can't get it to go up those revs.. help please, i know how to burn out but this car acts like that!

Idle is about 800rpm id say once warmed up and if im not ripping on it the oil temp stays at about 190ish but hard driving it’ll be about 210, maybe even a bit above, im pretty sure the absolute limit for the S54 is 250.

Love the content and video, very helpful, I had a shop install mine and finding out months later that they didn't put any grease on them, absolutely horrible sound coming from the back passenger side now, hoping that's all it is.

Currently running revshift poly trailing arm bushings and i just recently bought revshift subframe bushing so the majority of the rear end will be revshift poly bushings

@@johna4082 I’ve had one on my car for 2 ish years now. It’s super loud, paired with headers especially its definitely not on the quiet side. Also even with stock usdm headers it’s a very loud muffler

Sold my 335i like 8 months ago & was gonna get a 745i again but seen this 98 740i so I copped it . Best car I’ve had hasn’t given any problems at all , body & paint in pretty good condition .

Did the ar20 tone the rasp at all? I heard the Megan racing headers are pretty good. I’m trying to piece together my exhaust and idk what to do 🤷♂️
It actually did but that axleback i had in the video just promotes rasp, i got a new one which im gonna release a video on where it really shows how deep the engine can sound with a good exhaust!
If you can afford a rasp eliminator pipe thats your best surefire way of eliminating rasp but the Ar-20’s can also get the job done for way cheaper, just depends your budget

Did you have a check engine light for the o2 sensors? I want to go catless but California smog is a bitch
Nope after nearly 3 months of being catless the 02 extenders are doing their job and still no check engine or EML light :)
For a usdm M3 though id say your best bet to stay emmissions compliant and get the most power gains is to go catless headers and catted section 1, i hear 200 cell cats provide the least to almost no power loss but i know California can be pretty strict…

@@pedromorel33 got it from 1320 performance on ebay but just checked and sadly they dont have anymore but so long as the thread pitch is correct any 90 degree 02 extender does the same thing

Summit muffler is 100 bucks and remove almost all rasp although a bit louder

The shots in this video look like you been doing this for years 🤣 but the only thing i would recommend is a gimbal, there’s plenty out there but i used the DJI osmo 3 but there’s ones by Zhiyun that should work with your camera. Especially for car cinematography it takes it to a whole new level, no more shakiness or anything like that. Most double as a tripod too.
