Thank you to Currents New Media for having me back, and to August Baldy for filming this incredible footage. I drop a camera on my mixer at one point, the signal shuts off. Radiophonic Sketches 4: March 1st, 2023 at the Jean Cocteau Cinema / Sandbox New Music Series
มุมมอง 184ปีที่แล้ว
All of the footage was shot on a Sony Hi8 camera, and I am performing using the dictation machine, the weather radio, a contact microphone, Wingie2, as well as music I created in Ableton. The footage of me performing was lost to time, however the audio and the video that played behind me still survive. live on twitch twice a week: www.twitch.tv/jezspirit chat and share music: discord.com/invite...

soulful channel, keep it going
Do you use an adaptor to get the audio into your interface? Are you plugging out of the headphone jack? Either way, awesome stuff
What city are your radio stations! ? Nice Source! Los Angeles Radio Stations has an endless supply of off beat stations.
I have one on order from eBay. I’m looking forward to getting this. If you’re getting one too, something the uploader forgot to mention make sure it’s the VSC model.
I love this breakdown! Just found out about this machine as I"m looking to get into the world of cassette for music and it looks so sick!
oh wow - sounds amazing Great review!
Mine was the 100th 'like.' Not enough credit is given the 100th like. JK.....great video, thanks!!!! Subbed.
Any solution for the auto stop with tape loops? I bought some tape loops but the transcriber stops after a few rotations
Check out the pinned comment, on Caleb's account he posted a video about how to get around that . I don't use these machines for tape loops because I have more fun with selectively looping sections of longer tapes with them, but I'm sure there are a lot of techniques for tape loops that would be awesome
Just found one of these at a thrift store. Going to head back and see if I can find the pedal.
That sounds amazing!! This is the exact kind of video I’ve been trying to find! Thank you 😁
This is an amazing live performance! Just subscribed to you
what midi controller are you using?
Just my computer keyboard + mouse in this one
I forgot to ask you about this little grey box last night in Lubbock and figured I bet this guy has TH-cam channel with a demo. Cheers!
wonderful stuff! i especially enjoy the noises that start around 11:42
i've been obsessively looking for content exactly like this for like a year and only just found this...youtube rocks!! thanks for posting. would welcome any more content on the sound canvas paired with modern tech. currently using my 88pro with ableton, basically as just a sequencer, but kind of feeling like that introduces more problems that it solves. and oh yeah those bells kick ass!! harps too
ive had decent luck with ableton and the sc88 pro, but i think if i was going to try hooking a computer up to it again i would use sekaiju, which is a freeware windows based midi sequencer/editor/everything. i actually sold my tracker a few weeks ago, 🤐 but i would never sell the sc88
found one at goodwill for $5.99 :)))
can you confirm if this machine is mono or stereo through the aux output?
It's mono.
tape mello-fi and some eq is also really good for that old dusty lo fi mood
I absolutely love your work. It has inspired me to give ambient music a try as a classically trained musician. With much love ❤
Wtf?
"Jez" is such a simple yet experimental name.
Fantastic.
There's some crackle in the demonstration. Is that an intentional artifact of Bokeh or something else? Kinda sounds similar to buffering issues but I see the CPU usage is only around 15%.
The audio on this video ended up weird when uploaded to TH-cam, there's clipping in various parts that don't have clipping on the original file. Any crackle is probably an artifact from that. Do you have the timestamp?
So I have a question. I just bought one of these and I’m wondering if I can take A tape that was recorded at a higher speed and use this machine to basically re-record it slow down
Windowlicker @ 11:24 :)
Nice work.I see thee mighty Sledge in the background.
its an amazing machine
tbh i loveeee it ,plz keep uploading more
Our music is decently similar, but I do think yours is better.
Pretty nice and interesting to see how other creators build their ambient things 👌😊
Any info on the tape you used in this video?
Dreams, Language, and the Soul with Marian Woodman, from my new age collection
@@jezspirit awesome, thanks man!
Hi there, are you familiar with the Sony Secutive BM35 dictation machine ? I have just taken a $25 gamble on one in the hope it may be useful for recording Guitar/Drums/Bass ?
I don't know anything about it but it looks very cool, I love those older bulky units, they usually have a really interesting sound
It's been frustrating that pretty much every song I've heard produced on the tracker seems to use "prepared" samples - sounds produced by other equipment specifically for playback on the tracker. This video breaks the mold - thank you!
Great! The synth reminds me an old ambient track of Alec Empire (Generation Starwars).
Thank you. I learned some useful information.
The weatherman speaking and generating pad sounds- damn, so cool.
:)
I have a question. I had an older cassette recorder that I recorded cassettes on with the spoken word. It broke and now i find that for any other cassette recorder I've been able to find, the playback is really really fast(like the three chipmunks cartoon but faster) . Do you think that the Panasonic RR 830 would have the capability(and the range) to slow down the playback enough to normalize the voices?
It hard to say without hearing it, but it could certainly slow it down somewhat. Its been my experience that something like a Library of Congress player will go much slower than the RR830, but it would still be improvement.
Interesing, very interesing and beautiful
4:47 to the end is exactly what I want to hear when listening to this type of music
This is amazing! Soo are you time stretching these? I’m not understanding how you degrade the samples, is this a function within the tracker?
That's right! Mostly slowing down and bitcrushing.
@@jezspirit so cool!
This sounds great. Sweet demo.
I can't say enough nice things about the Wingie2, it really feels like something that will live in my setup forever. Love your channel btw!
@@jezspirit I love Your channel Man, You are big inspiration for me
wow you're so smiley it's beatiful. experimental music is not widely publicly illuminated, it's mostly underground and tet-a-tet. thanks for sharing
