    Why would you give out discounts, if you don’t like it why are you working there? If it was that bad the company it’s forced to change. If I were you I’d go to work for those companies you feel treat their workers right, but I bet you wouldn’t last a day working in a kitchen.

    • @Crusading

      1. That very well might be my plan, but sometimes its not that simple. I hold an important role and a bunch of variables prevent me from just walking out. I care about the people I work with and if someone above me is out for certain reasons (medical leave for surgery) Im not just gonna walk out and leave people I care about to pick up the pieces. Sometimes its doing whats right, not whats right for just you. My plan is to eventually find something to further my experience, but its important to me to wait for the right time. 2. I've worked in a kitchen before. And it wasnt the work that was the problem, it is the business model behind American food service. I believe cooks should get tips instead of servers. I dont think it should be up to customers to make up for a loss of wage over entry level skills. Thanks for the comment

    I work for the State of North Carolina. They reward the vast majority of their workforce with low pay & 35 days straight of unpaid leave to purge us from the system, so they are not required to give any of their “permanent temporary” workers benefits under regulations the State Legislature itself wrote to exploit in their favor. They get about as much work out of me as they deserve.

    I get what you are trying to say and I’m sorry to break it to you, but this is the business model. They will always be able to hire just enough people to stock shelves and run tills at min wage. They generally don’t care about management either, always another person ready to step up at a lower salary. No reason to provide benefits or incentives that just cut into profits. Someone in here mentioned trades which is very sound advice. Your skills will be valued because they are independently useful and you can bring them elsewhere if the employer doesn’t treat you well. Or just work for yourself.

    • @Crusading
      @Crusading 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@steve501 and the point of the video is to showcase how it’s a shitty business model. In my case, Sales drop from poor business decisions and advertising decisions. as hard workers leave because they have ZERO incentive to stay from the company. Hours get cut due to low sales and that further demotivates people to work hard. People will work as hard as they are worth. And when a company doesn’t value their workers, it creates a negative feedback loop. Due to bad pay and turnover being extremely high, it’s hard to hold a high work standard with bad pay as losing workers can be detrimental. Especially when they can go down the road and work for a company that not only pays better, but also gives good benefits. Business, especially retail, is a competitive market. The corporation I work for does ZERO advertising or marketing. You’ll never see an ad from them on a social platform or TV. then when customer count drops and sales drop, hours get cut and workers end up leaving. It’s a slippery slope that ends up in corporations selling off a company after they buy it.

    • @Crusading
      @Crusading 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@steve501 I would also like to add, with my experience I can do just fine in my field of work. I speak more for the people who lack this experience and have no choice but to work for places like these.

    As someone who worked entry level jobs for the first 17 years of adulthood, stop working entry level jobs. Get into the skilled trades. Not just trades, but the ones that require licensing to operate. My job can be demanding but no more than working a lot of the ones I did before. Employers will pamper you to keep you. Not trying to throw shade, just giving unsolicited advice I wish I understood so long ago.

    We should always treat people with respect and dignity. You never know what someone is dealing with outside of work. If a coworker is speaking bad about someone else you work with, call them out and let them know it’s not ok.

    • @Crusading
      @Crusading 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the problem is, most companies dont really care about your personal problems and see you more as a mechanism that keeps a certain machine running. In a corporations case, workers are merely a mechanism in that particular machine (store/building). I hear often of people sharing that companies have said directly to them that they are replaceable. In no world should you ever make people who are representing your company feel that way. Unfortunately, business often doesnt come down to ethics. it comes down to money.

      it should be the #1 priority past sales and customer care. Sales have to come first due to business, customers come second to keep business, and employees after to keep the prior two alive and healthy. A lot of businesses sadly have employees very low on the list of importance

    You didn't mention bonuses at all so I'm gonna assume you are talking about Safeway. I worked in a Target for 7 years and it's like a death camp. Most retailers aren't fantastic to work for but if you know the retail business well and understand sales metrics you can use that to get a better job pretty easily.

    • @Crusading
      @Crusading 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you are going into retail, i highly recommend grinding your ass off to move up. Once you get to the point of a department manager or even assistant for the store, you can then go to a third party company for vending product. Liquor, soda, etc. That, or become a merchandiser and then move up from there. Also, not Safeway. An even worse company.
