Old and out of shape? Balance problem? Not as sure on a bike as you used to be? This is for you- they are recumbent trikes- no balance needed. Easy seating. Peddling isn’t bad either as it’s power assisted! Wayne is a great teacher- he’ll have you peddling in 10 mins. He also knows great places to ride, this is lots of fun!

Riding a recumbent trike is very difficult on the knees, especially when hills are involved. 😂 And you want SENIORS to ride them? Bad suggestion…
Hummm. I ride a trike. Truman was President when I was born. I have arthritis in my ankles, knees and hips. I’m putting the finishing touches on 5 day, 300 mile, self contained tour. My Doctors are fine with it. We old and quite capable of making our own informed decisions.

You have to love the sheer joy she exudes from riding. I can't wait to get my first trike. I used to ride a lot, then mostly gave it up due to seat pain and back pain... things that tadpole format trikes resolve.
What would be your recommendations to senior citizens buying their first trike?
Find a shop that carries several brands of trikes and try them all, even if you need to a larger city to do it. Like cars,different models are for different kinds of riding and different personal needs.
I cant belive how hard it is to share "fun". This clip is simply awesome. And its not just about ageing or adaptive. You dont have to be limited to enjoy recumbancy or trikes! FACT.

IF one's balance is gone, only consider a delta planform trike with two wheels at the rear. With wheelchair and forearm crutches, I can slide on/off my 25-inch-seat-height "Hase Lepus!" Rohloff gearbox (never again cassette), E-assist, 2WD, twin air suspension under rider's torso! 70-yo, limited-mobility handicapper here (was not always handicapped). Never outgrow a delta planform trike. Grow oldest on a delta planform trike! Own BOTH Tadpoles and Delta recumbent trikes here, with over 30-years of experience. "Jason Stillwater" in the recumbent world.
My Wife has Heart Failure but can still ride 12 to 15 miles on her Trike. Cannot ride regular bike but can ride the Recumbent.

You know that a trike can flip and a helmet can keep your head round when your neck is broken ! i have not got to the point of leaning to turn where the bent underme requires me to lean and not it. I still like my Giro A20 touring recumbent .
Driving around in a Wall-E floaty chair may be "getting outside," but it's certainly not _riding._
Look at the age represented here? I ride a Bacchetta Giro A20 touring recumbent and I lead rides with it, in a group of diamond frame riders .69 this year and I ride two wheels not three as the cycling infrastructure where I live is less developed than where this video was shot. You just can not beat a recumbent for comfort and I happen to like comfort and speed.

the tadpole design of trikes is probably the most underated design. you can put a cart on the back and hual over 100 pounds worth of stuff.

Why is EVERYONE going electric assist. Doesn't anyone want to pedal by human power anymore? SMH.
Just as we no longer use ox-drawn wagons to get around, rather, we use cars, so technology allows us to cycle further and faster because of pedal-assisted tiny little electric motors. At last, older people as well as those with medical conditions can get out there and enjoy the feeling of the wind in their hair. Btw, you still have to pedal to get going, only, it’s as if someone is giving you a little push- absolutely wonderful!
E-assist is actually better for you. Still have to pedal but can go further and longer. Better workout. And this is backed by research.

@@waynehayward2242 Weak excuse. Suck It up buttercup and pedal (only using yourself as being the sole power). The technology excuse to getting around better nowadays is lame a.f. It's a bicycle! How hard is it to pedal by yourself!? SMH...this snowflake generation is weak AS.F. I rode from California to Tucson, AZ pulling a trailer filled with gear all by myself without any electric assist. Those batteries are heavy and don't last very long before they have to be recharged for 8 hours. Not very efficient if you ask me.
Wonderful video! It's so great to see someone introduced to Recumbent Trike riding be transformed by the experience! There really needs to be more of this sort of thing happening. Us RT folks need to do more to share the experience with others in our community. For what it's worth, Kent Bicycles sells two recumbent models, the Cavalier and the Roamer, both of which can be purchased online through Walmart and shipped (for free) straight to your door. The Cavalier costs a bit over $700. Yep. Here's my intro video for it: th-cam.com/video/rrlAiE1APjY/w-d-xo.html. I bought mine this past June and have put over 700 miles on it just riding around town. Everyone ought to be able to experience RT riding.
