For your color work socks, you could also frog back to the ribbing and increase to 72 stitches for the color work. I've done that and it works fine ❤️

When I make a knitting mistake I try to figure out how to fix it. I pretend that I’m taking a knitting class to improve my knitting. It helps me get through it.

I would do one change to the sock at a time. Then you will know what to do every time that you make a color work sock. I have never made a stranded sock but many people have trouble with them being too tight.

I’m trying to build my circle of knitting friends so I started a beginners knitting class and it’s all my girlfriends taking it! I am slowing building up to selling them on yarn festivals and doing a retreat! 😂

My friends and I do our own knitting retreat every year in February or March and it is so much fun! It’s so fun to rent a place, knit, cook together, and watch trash TV all weekend. Have a great time!

For colorwork socks typically you will increase one sock size from your normal sock size and go up one needle size. Then knit inside out to keep floats loose and even.

Regarding your color, Work socks… I’ve recently been seeing videos about Knitting color work inside out for small circumference knitting… Keeps the floats from becoming too tight so they fit better :-).

I would just duplicate stitch over those pick up stitches on the cardi cocoon so they'll blend in. I don't think there's any need to frog and redo your work!

The Shift Cowl is coming along so beautifully! Those colors will be perfect for multiple seasons! Can’t wait to see the rest of the colors!! Also, 10000% agree about flaws in our knitting adding character and endearment. It actually makes me feel better as a knitter when I know other knitters don’t fix every single mistake in their projects. It takes some pressure off to be perfect. Also, LIMEWIRE 😂. I absolutely love portuguese knitting! I heard about it in a TH-cam video in the summer and had to try it. I practiced it for a solid day, after which I felt that my knitting/purling looked indistinguishable from my former way of knitting, and I've never looked back! Purling is SO much easier!

My favorite go-to gift knit hat pattern is Jason’s Cashmere hat (free pattern). It has simple cables and a fold up brim and is very easy to adapt to different sizes, just by casting on more or less stitches. I’ve made it for children up to adults. For my next hat I want to try a top down hat pattern.

October hat by Sloane Rosenthal is so good! It’s a free pattern on Ravelry. The fit is great, I’ve made several.

I have made so many Wavy Legs hats. I am a loose knitter so I use worsted weight a size 5 needle. I also like a snug hat. I finish them with a faux fur pom pom

I have heard a lot of people talking about the Shaniko wool but I don't think it is available in Australia. It sounds amazing though. Thank you for the hat pattern recommendation - I would never have believed that you only have to cable for 5 rows throughout the whole pattern. For gift knitting for hats, I like the Musselburgh pattern as it has sizes from infant all the way through to adult XL and you can use any yarn from a fingering to worsted weight. All sizes and gauges start with the same number of stitches, and then after a few rounds of increasing, you measure your gauge to calculate the total number of increases you need to work. It's a simple pattern but very intelligent.
