This wouldn't be effective for an overweight disabled passenger 😢
Sounds like a baclofen commercial, in part. It does not work for evertyone. I got off it in favor of zanaflex and dilaudid plusdiazepam. I think they help, but the power of the spasms breaks through the pain tolerance and causes 8-10 level pain and can’t be doing anything good to the muscles, tendons and insertion points? Has anyone recovered from this, and if so how did you proceed? T Y.
I imagine hand loss is the worst part of being a quad (unless you lose breathing ability). I hope the new bypass tech will be used on someone to get hand movement back.
Or, they can just treat us like everyone else, and not think that they have to ask. Besides, when do we ever ask someone, "Why do you wear Eyeglasses?"
You are so accurate! I have seen a few videos, where the "able-bodied" person, sat in a wheelchair for a day, just to see what it was like. I said, "Believe me. It's not the same! Signed: Wheelchair user.
Jef...below was BEFORE a year of ownership...this is a after a year of ownership: they only last a year, then stretch out and even zip tying them won't help. Plus they are super expensive for a yearly purchase.
I’m an incomplete L4-L6 plus an injury higher up. I’ve had surgeries from the neck down. I can now walk some with a Walker around my house. Everywhere else I use a chair. I’ve had spasms every sense I was first paralyzed. Baclaphen didn’t help. When I get them sometimes I kick things or even people. I take a 10mg oxycodone and a muscle relaxer to help control them. Trying to get them to help me stand never worked. They always threw me on the floor.
Jeff, I’ve been dealing with and using my muscle spasticity for over 35 years. I do take a bacllofen med cocktail to Control the intensity of the spasticity. But, I found A balance of the amount of medication to keep the strength after muscle spasms manageable, while still being able to trigger A muscle spasm and music. I am very glad that I did not follow some advice to have a nerve block when I was newly injured.
Great overview!
I take batlerfen but is not helping for my spasms and the way Im living is in a very poor area so I don't even get much exisize
Awesome video. I am a recently below the knee amputee & also have amputations in both my hands, my fingers. Seeing this video was awesome thank you for making it.
I realize it's been a while, but I have a set and the cable is about to go. I can't get a hold of anyone @ teamhoc to respond to my inquiry about a replacement cable. When the cable goes, the brakes are useless and the chair is stuck permanently locked. I would love to continue to use these locks, but what can I do when the cable finally snaps and I can't find a replacement and no one at teamHOC returns any messages? Do you have a supplier for spare parts? Do you know where I can get a replacement cable?
The cable splitter is trash and made from plastic which will crack. It sucks when the cable breaks and then they are stuck on and you have to take a part the lock mechanism so your not stuck. These are ridiculously over priced. Shit like this is why disabled people struggle. I bought a metal splitter for a Ducati and make my own cables.
Is it not curable ? It’s permanent ?
Hi Jim Halpert
Thanks Jeff! Nice bonzai, too!
Fantastic review, thanks. :)
Best breaks ever!!
Nice
C4-C6 incomplete...I use these along with the NaviONE power assist wheels and I would hesitate to save up and buy another set. As a matter of fact, I have quad knobs on my back up chair and if given the opportunity to get regular hand rims and RibGrips for that chair...I would NOT. With the power assist wheels, I have never had an going downhill issues you spoke of. On a TH-cam channel with John Norton, 'Go Health Yourself', I learned zig zagging down a hill is what you want to do...not go spiralling out of control straight down. Like anything else though...they wear out and do not give you good connection with the rim...which is bad for power assist wheels. They stretch out and do not stick at all when they're wet. Don't waste your $$$.
Where can you get the axle tops? Will they fit on standard tilite axles?
D's locks are the bomb indeed. But now they are out of business i am very sorry to say. 😢
Did they keep ur hands clean
these are awesome for quads th-cam.com/video/6F33npLc_nQ/w-d-xo.html

Excellent video and you are very thoughtful. ..
The 90 second rule is actually an ICAO additionally it’s 90 seconds through half the doors
Rib Grips supposedly marketed these grips, making the claim they can take a lot of punishment, abuse, and hard use. The Rib Grip Company actually beats & whacks the crap out of the Rib Grips, quite forcefully, with an actual hammer,, during the commercial or advertisement video for the product...? Once installed, the commercial or advertisement shows the Rib Grips getting repeatedly beat with a hammer? I, specifically, wasn’t as fortunate or lucky with my Rib Grips, as the video portrayed. I ended up tearing both Grips when I was hopping up a curb, while going to Physical Therapy in my Box Wheelchair. I bunny hop up curbs in order to get on the sidewalk or walkway, quite often, in my Mike Box Wheelchair and never once had any problems or issues until I installed the Rib Grips. The Grips on occasion might make contact with the lip on the curb, especially since they’re pretty thick (diameter), but it’s certainly not anything close to continually whacking the Grips with a hammer, like I witnessed on the commercial. Plus, the Grips were slightly over one-month old. I too, also don’t like going downhill, because the Grips heat up so fast from friction with your hands. It’s very difficult to stop my chair ~ It’s quite uncomfortable to my hands. You have to throttle the brake in order to slow the chair down, this can make it difficult to stop. The diameter of the Rib Grips is too big. They should’ve made it easier to palm the Grips, subsequently, increasing the surface area for your fingers across the Rib Grips. I’m sure there are many people who enjoy their Rib Grips. The Rib Grips can certainly help with speed, control, and overall, ease of operation. However, after tearing and ripping holes in my Rib Grips, in less than two months, and experiencing a lot of uncomfortable issues, I’ll stay with my Box Contoured & Coated Push Rims!
I search this video up to see why can joe drive in family guy
Where I can buy the quad release
can we use your video for provider education?
Hi Chanda- sure thing!
I'm a T9 Incomplete paraplegic and I get spasms in my legs that sometimes shoot up into my back and make me become as stiff as a board. I had a bad fall a month after my paralysis and 2 days later I ended up having full body spasms for 36 hours, it was so bad that I could hardly breathe and the only time they would stop is when I would pass out.
I feel your pain brother!
Jeff that’s a great post on D’s locks, I have to say that they are not breaks their locks all they do is hold your wheel from turning you do not want to engage these locks while you’re moving you will be ejected from your chair. I know the price is high but a lot of it has to do with material and machining. I Believe you paid more than you should have. One more thing is that you can remove the wheels without disengaging the locks making it easier to disassemble and assemble for transport. If you’re a veteran these locks are available for free through the VA. My name is Doug E. I put it all together back in 1990 Steve H. Is my partner he owns HOC (hands on concepts for info go to info@dslocks.net) He actually help me improve the locks he’s a great guy. He’s definitely an asset for the disabled Community.
What happened to the company? Just asking is all. I have been told by 2 companies that they have went out of business 2 years ago. I've tried calling them and emailing them and no answer of any kind. The companies have had the same problem trying to contact them.
I'm so glad I learned something new today. Thank you for educating me!
Thank you, very informative!
Great oration of the Ds locks. Showing them properly installed would be great. Who ever installed your set would be called a soup sandwich in the military.
Thanks for the video. Very informative.
how tall is your backrest and what brand is it?
Hey Daniel. It’s a Roho backrest and is 14”
Jeff Butler Thank you I appreciate that and one more question LOL how much dump do you have in your chair
What kind of back do you have for ur chair?
Thanks for a well done, concise and informative presentation of the pros & cons of D's Locks. Very helpful!
I like your videos, they are very informative, I would suggest to you hitting up special books by special friends, he interviews all kinds of people with stories that deserve to be heard and I am sure you two would be get along and become friends.
hey, nice video. can this brakes be used while you are moving?
Hey, you're amazing! I hope you'll make more videos soon. Hello from Ukraine :)
What doctor do i go to to get diagnosed with this? My legs have random aggressive spasms and sometimes it lasts for over a day straight. Do i see a neurosurgeon? Halp mi
Good video! I just made one about this today!
My hand controls are a breeze!
This is so dope. Thx for sharing man. I'm just now jumping into this awesome sport!
Tus vídeos están bien nos enseña mucho sigue así gracias una pregunta Dónde compró la silla que tienes
hey budd when were you injured and what's your level ? (IF YOU DON'T MIND ME ASKING )
Not a problem! I'm a C5-6 from an auto accident in 2003
Hey, my name is Nick and I'm a c4,5,6 quadriplegic. Did you stick with the Rib Grips? Like you, I'm always looking for the best aftermarket handgrips that can last...
I've had my rib grips for a few months probably close to half a year and I must not be as rough with them. I'm quadriplegic from a progressive neurological disorder and I will never go back to the plastic coated rims. I can't even use them anymore after being spoiled with the rib grips! Since I'm not extremely independent I always have help on hills so I can't speak to the burn... But it did take a good few weeks to be completely confident with using them. When your hands are wet they are very slick though, but so are the plastic coated rims..in fact they seem more slick than rib grips... Did you go back to plastic coated or still using your rib grips? I like the video!
