Hey, those look like common grackles in the yard. I can even tell the males have dark blue and black feathers with yellow eyes and the females are dark brown

I wonder why there were no Ceratopsians in the Nemegt Formation, they were extremely abundant in the earlier formations & the fact they seem completely absent is very odd...
I too think that. One explain could be that the Djadokta and Barun Goyot formations were coeval, just from a different place. It has been proposed that the Nemegt fm. was composed by forests and wetlands surrounded by desert, which was from where the Djadokta and Barun Goyot formations formed. So Protoceratops and other ceratopsids might have preferred a more arid habitat (there could have been competition in the Nemegt, as there were large herbivores like Saurolophus, Therizinosaurus, Deinocheirus which were absent form the other formations. Sauropods and ankylosaurs were common there too) and we cannot exclude the possibility that the few specimens that lived in the Nemegt have not fossilized, not discovered yet or poached (poachers in Mongolia discovered the rest of the body of Deinocheirus and also destroyed Tarbosaurus and Gallimimus specimens with skin impressions, so who knows). That is my possible explanation.
@@josecortes5802 Actually, Ankylosaurs seem to go through a decline as well. In the Djadokta & Barun Goyot formations they were extremely species rich, but by the time you get to the Nemegt the only confirmed genus present is Tarchia (And MAYBE Saichania). I do like the competition theory, from what I've found there were at least 6-8 genera of megaherbivores in the Nemegt so competition was pretty stiff. The Barun Goyot formation also seems to mark the point where Asian Ankylosaurs became selective-feeders oppose to bulk-feeders in earlier genera, this implies greater feeding competition.

@@cro-magnoncarol4017 I do not have the link to the paper, but nevertheless they say that there are remains of an indeterminate ceratopsid very close to Sinoceratops or very similar to it.
