Talk yo shyt
Because of contactors like you , we all use youtube to DIY everything. Go back in your little hole now.
I agree, but it is professional to have all your original receipts to give me for everything. Placed in a envelope or whatever.
When AI starts to make everything super efficient and people don’t go by word of mouth anymore. You tradies are going to hit a world of pain. Make hay while the sun shines!
I'm also a contractor and yes many people do waste your time. So many people care so much about if they're getting a good deal and over paying but going cheap saving a couple thousand bucks up front will cost them more down the line. This is my everyday dealing with customers.
Hard to find a good contractor that is worth good money
And customers, know your opportunity cost.
So.....primer first then mix the compound. Pour it and use float to mive the bulk then the spiked roller to allow it all to self level? Nice job!
What glue are you using here @flooringsurgeons?
Well a truck with dash board management works for you. Great. You understand your value and demand it. They have to trust your word. So they must be ignorant for not being able to visualize what you know.
I’m with you brother. My only comment is that, imho, a job well done IS THE DEFINITION OF VALUE. When they want CHEAP I wish them all the best and MOVE ON.
I used to make clothes for people, high end clothes, and when someone asked if I could do it for cheaper then I said yes but cheaper fabric and quality. They said 'oh but I love your quality' so quality has a price.
Nope. If you can't give an itemized budget, you're a crook. Contractors steal and disappear all day.
Can I get an AAAAAAMEN
What is the roller thing he's using called and why does he do it?
U say that as if u dont belive over evaluation and price gouging really isn't a thing
Flat. Level? Maybe
Every man should become a DIY'er because of the money saving and pride accumulation.
it's real wisdom. I do it myself, so it's cheap, good but not fast.
What's wrong with an itemized budget? He's probably not only offering quality, but overpriced work. Just hearing this guy talk makes me feel ashamed that there are people like this.
South Park was right
8 years of homeownership taught me a few things...I won't higher a contractor who doesnt: 1. Show up when they said they would 2. Give itemized estimates 3. Feel they need to communicate with me P.s. Asking them to compete with their peers for price, workmanship, and timeliness is not being rude! Always get 3 quotes because its not "wasting their time" to look out for your interests.
So true! I install wallpaper! 43 years!
I don't think an itemized list is that outrageous. I've gotten a few small jobs done around my house and every time i got an itemized list including labor, disposable fees etc. No complaints about it, the transparency and time they took to explain the what and whys is why i trusted them to move forward with the job. As someone who has worked hard labor jobs where it requires skill and equipment, i understand what goes into the cost and i understand that you can't break all of that down in an itemized bill. But the skill you could learn is spotting a walking red flag instead of blaming someone for wanting an itemized bill. There are way too many scammers and hacks out there to expect people to just trust your high peice = quality product and skilled labor.
No itemized listed...get bent
Most people prefer both quality and value. You sound like you offer one of the two. You missed a few spots when applying primer.... hahaha
The spike roller removes the bubbles. You could simply use a steel rake as it works just as fine.
Contractors have got to be the most pompus a$$holes that ever walked the face of the earth. Most people would be better off doing things themselves and letting the GED contractors work at McDonalds.
Ummmmm no sorry. If you set a flat rate $5,500 for a service you don’t really want to even talk to or work with any of those people. You are the kind of contractor that I loath and wastes my time. No thank you.
Thank You!!!!
I disagree Easy job = easy job So = correct price Doesn't matter if you are doing it for 300 years it's still an easy job
Oats come cheep if they have been through the horse once.
Great advice 💯😃
Give me a break guy you're not that special. If you won't provide an itemized bill/contract you're probably ripping your customer off
Great job!❤
Lots of shady contractors and shady customers...
Word Salad..just l8ke your work
I agree with everything you said, except an itemized estimate. If somebody will not give you an itemized estimate and I’m not talking about something absurd. I’m talking about a generalized breakdown of the cost. Then you probably don’t want hire them. Because they have that. When they’re doing the estimate they have that breakdown. Why would they have an issue with you having that breakdown of cost? Just because someone’s busy doesn’t mean they’re the best contractor and it doesn’t mean you’re getting quality.
Love it
Unfortunately every contractor thinks like this with bad work to show. It’s a give and take world. If you can’t explain the cost to me then I don’t want you. I like to know where my money is going. This is why I learned to do things myself. If the home job isn’t worth my time to do other responsibilities then I will think about hiring.
The problem with what you are saying is, I had one electrician to give me an estimate to rewire my home. He said $100,000. The second electrician gave me an estimate of $40,000. Their is a huge discrepancy between these two bids. Im not looking for a value. Im looking for an honest, fair price. They see an old woman and think they've hit the jackpot.
you must not be very busy....or have a strange experience with cats
Quality doesn't cost, it pays. Read this years ago and never forgot it.
This is a lazy way to do business, and a red flag for anyone needing someone's services. It's totally legitimate to request itemization. Itemization includes the very foundation of your contact with your builder, repairman, landscaper, etc. It determines how long it should take, what is included (and more importantly what isn't). Materials used, whether or not there are subcontracting the work (a common reason why people don't want to itemize - they say "I'm worth it", but they mean they are keeping 20% off the top and hiring the people they claim to be better than). If you get an attitude like the one in this post, just decline and go elsewhere, communication and error resolution does not improve.
If you're a surgeon, you must have had a bloodbath because those pant marks are ridiculous 😂😊
Hay how are you I'm seeing this self leaving cement being used a lot but can I ues regular cement as those
This is the most idiotic take on how to conduct business or advice on how to do so. Time is money agreed and you wasted everyone’s showing up with your over inflated quote.
I like it fast and cheap. Just like my women
the problem is that we sure as $hit can't rely on internet views anymore. it will take actually making the contractor give us previous jobs, and getting permission to go interview and look at them. i've personally used some contractors that had jobs in my own subdivision, and then wondering wtf. its a hard line to draw. and you can say you do a good job, and then do a good job - but leave off 1/2 of the details that the homeowner wanted. so IF the homeowner doesn't know what to ask, then what? its the homeowners fault. here, lemme give an example. i live in the woods (more or less) and woodpeckers etc started messing up my fascia. so i hired the local handyman the others nearby swore by. (and he did several jobs for me). but once he was done replacing my fascia, i asked wtf arent the main issues not done? he said oh those are not fasica that is rake. the dam gable ends are WHY i wanted to re-do the fascia. 30yrs ago, it was all called fascia, now its not? wtf. so i let it go. but soon i will have to pay someone to replace the dam "rake"/fascia on my gable ends. so just sayin
I only ask for one and that is GOOD !!!
