    What does that spacer in the door actually do, surely the handle can be fitted without it?

    There are two grub screws on each side. They are easily lost when fitting. It's a tragedy that they don't include spares. Our carpenter lost a few....now got to find some more. The other issue is that the latch is a very tight fit in ours because the doors are hardwood....tried removing one for painting but no chance. It's a great design and carpenter praised how much time it saved, plus it's very neat.....but future serviceability will be interesting 🤔

    You are not showing changing the insert in the back of the jig , to bore the larger hole. ?

  • @juzbullet
    @juzbullet 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Crap ! This is flawed the cutters get clogged up on every hole they cut and the massive hole it cuts out for the handle means that eventually the handles will move when used it’s a device invented for the tradesmen of today unfortunately not for skilled men He said it all really when he said it takes the guesswork out of it because us skilled joiners can fit a latch and handles without guessing in five minutes without using stupid crap like this I’ve been a joiner for 35 years and I’m still better and faster at fitting latches than anyone using this

    The idea is brilliant but I found the hole saws burned though the wood when using on Howdens oak doors which has a chipboard core and it took over 5 mins remove the plug from both of the hole saws as they are to hot to touch other than that all worked well with the jig

  • @vamboroolz1612
    @vamboroolz1612 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    People on here saying it takes 20-25 minutes to fit a latch. I have never met a joiner that takes that long in 38 years of being a joiner. It takes around 5 minutes to fit a normal latch and handle on average. If you are a joiner and that’s not the case you are doing something wrong.

      if you're a time served competent chippy you won't need the jig.....but if you're a diy'er the jig and handles for your new extension come to a lot less than hiring the chippy...a few savings here and there add up.

    It's ok if your customer has selected to have this set of locks and handles. Useless if your fitting traditional square faced latches and handles.

    Hi. When I use 25mm hole saw it make slight bigger hole that I felt. When I have installed smart latch with out tapping 🔨 with hammer smart latch goes in with finger push. Is it ok or what point I have missed it? Why smart latch fitting was lose in my case. advise me please. Which screw driver should be used for smart latch because screws are very little.Thanks.

    Not a bad product, but it's definitely not as easy as shown in vid. The jig isnt very durable, broke after 4th installation, had to glue it back together. The 25mm hole saw was more 24mm, as a result the latch didn't slide in, had to buy a different brand hole saw, which made it 1000 times easier. Then the next problem, was the latch didn't sit flush to the face of door. The concept is good, but there are flaws. Unfortunately in my case, I'd already bought over 20 handles and the jig set.

    it is not that expensive system, you can buy 10 sets(hinges, handle and latch) with free jig at £179 that is £18 per set while you still keep the £60 jig.

    These sort of tools make no sense to me. When you have multiple types of door fittings and styles of locks and handles and then you design a system that will restrict you to one type, no thank you, you can make it look as high-tech and slick as you like but if I can't do a job to my customers specifications its useless. I get sick of companies trying to lock you into their "Do it our way" system. I want a modular flexible system, I want reliability, I want support and up to date add-ons and most importantly I want amazing fast customer service. If I did this what would you people think? would be interested to here your suggestions... keep em clean lol!

    Me and a fellow chippie will be buying ours shortly for a job with quite a few doors to hang. I think its a brilliant idea as it is true, its a 30 minute job to put a latch in by hand. I can see others apprehensions with being tied into a specific brand of hardware in order to use it. 9 times out of 10 the client wants to purchase their own hardware which would hinder the use of the jig to its full potential but I have heard from previous users that they have adapted a way to use it with other brands. Like i said, i'll be investing in one of these fairly soon :)

    Fitted under 5 mins but if you notice the latch keep had already been chiseled out so add on a few more minutes for that. A good idea but as jack will said below its far too dear for a piece of plastic,but if jigtech want to send me one to try i will give you my honest opinion

      The current record for fitting the latch and levers is 1min 16sec. This is starting on a fresh door with no markings or pre-cuts. Usually, if you were taking your time and being careful it would take about 5 minutes instead of the 20-25 it would usually take.

    What a palaver and you expect us to pay how much ... £60 for the displeasure ... then spend Exorbitant prices on your door handles, thanks but nooo thanks. If you wanted to sell you high priced door handles you should have thrown the tool in for free or sold it at an approriate cheap price ... to promote the sales of your door handles

      Hi Jack, Im sorry you feel this way. Jigtech is designed so you can fit a handle and latch in less than 5 minutes from scratch. It's here to save time meaning you can hang more doors in a day and move onto the next job. We provide a wide range of levers supplied in premium or contract quality. These range from £12 - £18 and come with a 5-year guarantee - In our opinion, a very reasonable price considering the quality and assurance you would not have to return to site to rectify issues and the time it saves you to fit the handles.
