I usually use a 15 to 18 foot leader with the droppers spaced a few feet apart above the point fly - so all the flies are in the last 5 or 6 feet of the leader. My rule of thumb is to have the length of your leader 1 1/2 times the depth of water you're fishing. I use leader rings to attach the droppers and I try to keep the length of the dropper quite short - just a few inches which makes it easier to untangle if you get in a mess! Tight lines! Hi John. The idea is that the oversize booby below the normal size booby will stop the smaller booby hitting the bottom when you fast retrieve. As you can see... the system works! Tight lines! Dick Wildblood

Hi Paul. That's a Lowrance Hook Reveal 5 which I got for £270 ($335). I added a 12V 30Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery which is much lighter than a lead acid battery and lasts much longer between charges. That cost an additional £100 ($125). I use it for depth rather than finding fish and recommend it - if your fishery allows it and its not too expensive! Tight lines!

I was a bait and lure fisherman in my 20's. Then i found fly fishing. I'm now in my 70's and love every minute of my fly fishing adventures. I hope you get the bug too 😉
