As a total beginner what are some good resources for finding *that song* you love and want to learn to play it? Is sheet music really the right place or is music theory better to start in terms of getting to proficiency? You mentioned trusted spruces for chords, could you share some you recommend?

Hi, really liked your videos on playing by ear. It seems like most piano content on youtube doesn't really address that as much. I'm most interested in techniques on learning songs by ear and improvising over nice chord progressions or left hand bass lines. I've only been playing 1.5 years though, my main goal is combining my playing with music production on my DAW. Really don't like learning by sheet music to be honest, would you say that's a big limitation? Thanks

When you play the Bmajor in the right hand and a G it is dissonant until you change to a B sus 4 after that you can play A ea,gdg,,fab eb ab,big,f# c# f# ,f# eb f#, also for Billy Joel sound play the B minor toBbminor7 ,a ea,ab be ab,gag,f# c# f# ,f# e F# …I do this all the time ..as a Bminor it’s the Billy Joel honesty nitro ,as a b sus4 it’s Van Halen jump..

Or simply transpose your keyboard 😊 A friend of mine used to 'cheat' like this. Always play in C and transpose the keyboard. This made playing with others difficult.
