Dakotas Boat Revamp

Tony and Cooper spent a week and a bit giving Dakotas boat a new lease on life. We had done the hull last year so now it was time for the inside. Fixed the transom. Removed all the rotten bulk heads. Put in new ones to suit a new casting platform.… complete with storage for fuel tanks, tackle and built in esky. Full flow coat inside. Fitted new Mercury 40hp. Has been a big job for the men.

The boat is for sale right? I'm asking because you hardly showed the boat. You gave us pictures and trips plus you riding in your dingy but not really much of the boat at all. Do better.

Hi thanks for commenting. I’d be happy to do a tour. We are currently sitting through a cyclone here in North Queensland, but as soon as the weather is better we will be back on the water. Have you seen our earlier videos?
Another awesome video thank you. How good was the weather. Keen to hear why you moved the boat from Airlie is it that much cheaper or are you guys moving to Mackay or just commuting from Prossy. No more issues from the time out of the water by the looks so that’s good news.
Thank you so so much. Considerably cheaper in Mackay and facilities not too shabby. We will still be living in Proserpine and travelling to Mackay for boating adventures. The marinas in Airlie are both saying they are booked out till 2026 so we had to make a move for insurance purposes. I actually think the Marina in Mackay a safer option in a cyclone.. their wall is much higher. Looks like it might be put to the test this coming week !! The boat ran like a dream .. we had the most beautiful few days.

One would hope the mounting of the tanks on the later models has improved greatly.
Oh man, I hope so!! What a nightmare. We have never invested so greatly on a boat in our lives. Always bought the shitbox and spent lots on time and effort fixing it up. Decided to spend the extra money and get something newer and less work… bwhaha little did we know !!! Getting close now though xxx Thank you for watching and commenting… means alot to us Dx

We are frequent Gili Meno visitors but stayed at the Pink Coco on Air when it first opened and enjoyed it immensely.
We loved Gili Air so much. Hope to get back sooner than later. Also considered moving there semi permanently!! So pretty xx

Did some work on a fifty footer in fremantle some years ago.....they had retrofited a genset and had installed a copper fuel pickup tube in the port fuel tank..aluminium ... the copper chewed out the bottom of the tank and the cabin roof was removed ...the 1000hp maiin engine removed and finally the fuel tank... Many dollars later..the engine refitted and coachwork refinished...all because of a quarter inch copper tube.......
It’s crazy how they put these boats together. There is no easy way to check or fix anything. And then they go and do something so stupid and it’s a nightmare to repair. Anyhoo we are so happy we got to it and can get it fixed. Lucky our men are clever 😂
shouldn't use brass or copper piping or fittings with alloy tank ( if it's alloy).
Yes .. you’d think the boat builder would have known that - it had brass tails / copper pipe fittings AND stainless steel screws🥴😳🙄 yes it is alloy.
@@muchkarmacruising3450 had to cut and reglass the floors and deck on my own boat to change the fuel tanks. I know the battle well

my original tanks were stainless and were falling apart due to crevice corrosion, so even stainless doesn't last
