I might suggest they weren't ready to test. They must've been overwhelmed by the information. Hopefully some more time with an instructor will help them read the road rather than rely on pre drilled routines on familiar roads

First time viewer here. Constructively I would like to say that there is way too much sky in the video, and if the dashcam was altered it a little, to show some of the bonnet, it would make the footage so much nicer to watch, and be more representative of what a driver actually sees.

He really needs much practice

Personally i dont think you need to lnow the test route but it does help. The thing to learn to look for the information that will help you navigate the the roundabout or junction like signs and road markings plus the sat nav. Then lets say you have the wrong lane you should learn what you can and cant do but you need to be checking your mirrors to make sure its safe. The thing is of you just drive the test route is fine but you can go into auto pilot mode. Then when asked to do something you're not used to you can get all flustered which i thing he did. Im guessing when he was in the 3rd lane was thinking i need to be in in middle which then caused him to change lanes then with the van and no mirror checks. Instead of thinking whats my route from this lane ok im the right lane so im going to follow the route to the right on the whole but if i can i may change lanes but i need to be checking its safe. Probably just that lack of inexperience when you have got that wrong lane and not sure what to do and maybe where just going for a drive in an area you dont know would have helped

That’s a very simple easy spiral roundabout, when the white line appears just stay to the left of it, unless you want to go all the way back around the roundabout, then you’d need to cross the white line, try going on a proper spiral roundabout where there are 4 or 5 lanes on approach to the roundabout! 😜 They’re very easy though, road signs and road markings will tell you what lane you need for your exit, unless lane 1 is left turn only of course then usually lane 1 takes the first exit and the second exit, anything more than that you’d need the right lane and you keep on heading to the right until you find the lane that you need to be in for your exit and you stay in that lane and that lane will take you to your exit, that’s how a spiral roundabout works. 🙃
