What does this engine weigh, and what is the wheelbase and width?

Nicely done video and I'm tempted to get the engine! Dunno about methylated spirits...judging by Amazon, this seems to be ethanol at >95%. A boiler pressure indication of some sort would be a nice addition, and I suppose that the ultimate pressure safety valve is the bit of tubing from boiler to engine. Any idea what boiler operating pressure actually is or at what pressure the relief valve lifts? Probably could run it on an air compressor and find out.

Can anyone tell me what type of oil to use to lubricate the engine parts. The instructions list 2T or 4T oil but I assume that is to mix with the fuel. Thanks!

The M Type engines are throttle governed, not hit & miss and, they are certainly not open crank.

We can’t seem to get ours to go, does it have to be methylated spirits? I tried alcohol 99%

I remember the 4 wheeled Foden my uncle Joe drove that had a Gardner in it would only do 42mph flat out but loaded up hill it would still do 42mph and over took all those modern lorrys, good old plodders

we solved the fiddly ball bearings and fitting the governer and slip ring....by removing the ball governers and fitting them after the flywheel was fitted..

Great review and operational test of the Steam Engine. Would have liked a test of the steam whistle. Did you have the syeam pressure build up to relief valve pressure There are no spec’s on the steam engine on working pressure or relief

I always favor the engines that are actually doing work. The old generators are awesome. I wonder what they were outputting voltage and current wise?

Anyone help! Where do you set the needle valve and air, (choke), when starting cold. Mine fires for a few times then quits. I have messed with both screws for hours and no luck. My timing is set to 4 degrees BTDC if you are wondering. Exhaust valve is not too tight, compression is good Book tells you to start with mixture screw out two turns and open the carburetor to 60-80%? Whatever that means.

Nice looking engine .If you have too much heat it wont run ,there needs to be a temperature differance to cause the vacuum ,a flame that gets sucked in is much better also these engines only run in one direction. Don't use any kind of oil in the cylinder it will only gum up and cause friction ,powdered grafite is best ,good luck !
