Super Good Camping
Canada
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 พ.ย. 2020
Hi there!
We are a blended family of four who are passionate about camping, nature, the great outdoors, physical activity, health, & being all-around good Canadians!
We would love to inspire others to get outside & explore all that our beautiful country has to offer. Camping fosters an appreciation of nature, physical fitness, & emotional well-being. Despite being high-tech kids, our kids love camping! We asked them to help inspire your kids. Their creations are in our Kids section on our website.
For the adults, we would love to share our enthusiasm for camping, review some of our favourite camping gear, share recipes & menus, tips & how-to's, & anything else you may want to know about camping. Got a question about camping? Email us so we can help you & anyone else who may be wondering the same thing. We are real people, with a brutally honest bent. We don't get paid by anyone to provide a review of their product. We'll be totally frank about what we like or don't like.

This was great! Thanks!
Thanks so much! Shoot me your email - lets chat about being on the podcast.
Great story! I love making my own meals, I'd love to upgrade to freeze drier. This was super informational :)

Thank you for the opportunity. Was a pleasure. I hope to continue to inspire people with my story and help people feel more confident cooking outdoors. 🔥
Have a great Christmas, you two! I think that as I get older, my treks get shorter, closer to my pickup, and the cast iron tends to be there...very small pan, but HEAVY. And I always bring things I'll never use; 3 ferro rods, etc, extra everything.
Happiest of holidays to you too! I'm not quite there yet, but I can see it looming on the horizon. Thanks for watching!
Swag swag swag 🙌🏼
I love the focus on inspiring more women to get out, experiment, adventure, and learn. Of course, I may be a little biased as a female adventurer - but the focus of this makes me smile! Also, I have to agree. Some of the biggest disasters are the best adventures - it's all about rolling with it and seeing where it takes you.
I've found bias can be a good thing. Sometimes it gives you the confidence to advocate for something you might otherwise not. I am sooooo thrilled that Tori created this! Makes me want to do a Tom Hanks/Bosom Buddies deal so I can sneak in. :)

Very cool list!! We have quite few of these items!! Cheers y'all!! J & C
The following year I couldn't go with him and he took someone who was inexperienced and caused the boat to turn over he lost that canoe and vowed never to take someone like that again
Wow what a cool story! Back in the early 80s my dad took me on a trip and we were lining a canoe and dumped it and had to sit around a fire drying clothes, tent & sleeping bags. We didn't have anything netted down, tied down, and I don't think spray skirts were invented yet.

Totally agree with moving closer to the destination. We left our home to chase jobs in the city, then the opportunity came along to move back home, just 5 miles from the Huron National Forest. We need to push our engineer friends to develop reusable vacuum bags. Saran has a large factory near my house in the city, and a few former coworkers that went to work there. I'll have to put a bug in their ears.

Saugeen conservation authority doing winter camping this year
Enjoy! I'm going to try to get Pamela out for some winter camping this year.
Nino?
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that's in reference to.
This sounds like a good time! Not sure if the hockey schedule is going to allow us to go, at least it's after Christmas (so busy!).
Fingers crossed that you can make it! I'm pretty sure this will be a full on love fest for the outdoor types! Soooo looking forward to it.

Exactly!!
Always great to hear Cliff talk. Has so much experience in the back country

Those solor powered coolers sound neat but unrealistic to be relied upon without back up ice packs and such....too bad they are so expensive. As for nighttime bathroom breaks when camping alone with little children, I'd go quickly for those overnight nature calls when they are sleeping, though could feel nerve wracking for children younger than 10. Having a site near a washroom(outhouse or comfort station) helps with limiting time away. I see those privacy bathroom tents all of the time, though they are an added expense and yet another thing to set up....with young children in tow when you are the only adult, less to set up and take down is helpful. When I was a child my mom would bring a collapsible toilet seat with a collection bag and place it behind our tent for overnight usage and no privacy tents (most will be sleeping and it's harder to see others in the dark).

Epic journey and great photography too :)
Thank you!!
Lots of relatable conversation here! Thanks for taking the time to put this out. Did Pamela love the Massasauga enough to apply for the full time position of paddling partner?! 😊
Lol, not quite. But she did say we could do another trip, so I'm calling it a win!
That first portage from three legged lake had an absurd amount of trash when we were there in September. Off to the side of the portage by the hill it was almost like a dump! Sooo much!! Jennifer had a photo on her phone but we all know what happened to that 😂
Nice clip guys! That was a pretty crazy heat wave for Ontario in mid June!
Thanks for having me on the show again Tim and Pamela! I really enjoyed the chat with you both!

I was young and stupid (still am sometimes) but I've never left my garbage at the campsite before.
Agreed 100%! Unfortunately, especially over the last 5 years or so, we've seen a deluge of newbies in the backcountry. I don't know if it's a lack of education/knowledge, a sense of entitlement, a lack of giving a sh!t. We've always found rope and nails in trees and juice box straws in the front country, but the backcountry has never been at the levels we're seeing now. Our eldest son & I showed up at the site on Sandy Lake in Killarney in 2020 to find 14 fireplace grills & 4 frypans. :(
great trip info - sounds like a great trip, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

Great episode, loved the bear talk :). As a forest technician I always had bear spray, I've been charged & stalked multiple times. Bear spray was never deployed but always gave me the ability to get space if needed. its a dangerous tool, you need to check the safety clip and have attached so you do not lose it without realizing, and you can knock the tops off the canister if you hit it hard enough or dropped it. . One day at work my bush dog shockingly refused my sandwich... I was like thats weird.. later realized my bear spray cap moved and leaked on my lunch, it was one spicy lunch + sore tummy, and burning lips. 😂. PS: making noise works but when it doesnt - you better be ready!
Great insight & great advice! Yeah, I'm (Tim) a bit anal retentive, so I have a list: Yell, Get out the garbage bag(which I keep in a side pocket), Spray & pray that I'm upwind. Thanks for the "check the safety clips" point. I forgot that one.
This was another lovely conversation between humans who truly hold together a community online. So glad to hear that Dennis was up here in Algoma again and that he had a great summer! We appreciate the connections you all make and love to share space with all of you. Can't wait to see you 3 again soon!
Thanks friends! We so love our community!! Let us know what your "fall" looks like. I'd love to try a live-stream Maybe sneak a Tuesday one in while Dennis is busy with other things?
@supergoodcamping 100% in for whatever you want to work out, pals! Just send us a message and we'll see what we can do 😁👍
Thanks Tim and Pamela for the great chat. It is always a pleasure to be on your show.
We love yakking with you too, Dennis. Thanks for making time in your super busy schedule. Hoping the wedding went off without a hitch!!
Enjoyed the episode guys! It was nice to hear what Dennis has been up to these days. I didn't get to watch the Canoehound show as much the past two years because I was busy with other things, but I was hoping to be able to watch it again more this year, so hopefully he is able to get the show going and have episodes as often as he can. I always enjoyed watching it! If he is looking for guests, I'd be happy to join in lol! I have been becoming a lot more active on TH-cam and social media again.
We're with you on that! We have all of our digits crossed that the show is a go!!

Amen to all that! 🙏
Part of the reason that kayakers are more likely to wear the PFD has to be that there is nowhere to store one that is not being worn. So long as the rule is that each paddler only has to have a PFD on board, some paddlers will just have it in the canoe, but a kayaker has to wear it.
That makes sense. Being a canoer, the lack of storage hadn't really occurred to me. That probably accounts for the number disparity. Still wish more boaters, all around, wore their lifejackets.

I didn't know Albion Hills did a Wilderness First Aid course. I grew up in Bolton and used to go to day camp there when I was a kid. Looking forward to this season, sounds like a killer line up!
It was put on by I-Rescue. They have a deal with Albion Hills so that camping is included. Way better than driving back & forth every day.
Looking forward to listening all season.
