Man this is life changing information for native ppl our bodies weren’t meant for any of this processed non native food that got exported here and that’s why we have 2.3x more of a chance to get diabetes than the general population and they want to hide this behind a paywall

I live in a big univeristy town, so there are still lots of bookstores here, between them, reviews, and the bits Amazon will show me, I do appreciate previews . Can't think of any right now, and I already have an obscene amount of cookbooks, to the point that I rarely consider print books any more. I can reach my library of ebooks no matter where I am. But I'll check out more of your previews. Thx.

It's funny when you mentioned pork must be here. Majority of Indonesians are Muslim so, pork is actually less common. Also, if you are wondering why so many spices involved... well, because we have a lot of them! :D

That’s a good question! We both own a copy but it did come out during a busy month where tons of cookbooks came out so maybe we didn’t!
Not sure where you're located in the PNW but there are **two** carribean markets in South Seattle. Also, many more options up in Vancouver BC! Thank you for this review, I've been looking for a cultural Caribbean cookbook for a friend and this one is sounding great.

I realize this is an older review, but I just wanted to comment about the Pumpion Pie and the Pecan tart. Both are exceptional! I made the Pumpion pie for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit. And the Pecan Tart was the best Pecan pie I've ever eaten. Highly recommend. And you should watch his show, it will give a lot more insight to the recipes he included.

I encourage you to make these breads. I simply do not agree that this book is not suitable for 'beginners'. First thing, if you can put water into flour and yeast and salt, you are a bread baker. If you do the steps as presented in the book, you are making rye bread. What should be stressed is that rye is not like wheat, period. Rye doughs are sticky, stubborn, and no not respond to kneading. You can usually do some folding to create some structure, but do not expect tall airy loaves of porous crumb. All that said, you can make rye bread. Start with a low % of rye flour/bread flour and experiment from there. Even a 50/50 loaf is very rye satisfying.
