    When adapting some of WLOPs technique something you should consider about how WLOP paints is that it has a very traditional and painterly sort of build up to it. If you watch WLOP forms arent as defined by lines as much and the image is built in layers. I would consider having your beginning forms more abstract with fewer hard lines and build the forms with shades over time. You should consider lower opacity brushes with softer edges if you want to study their technique.

    Hi! First off, I subbed, you are so underrated! Second, if you want some constructive criticism I'll put it down below (in case you don't want it, don't click read more :) ) So, if you're looking at this, hi again! What i wanted to say was that you're really good at background and people, but I think it might help a little bit if you define/add a little bit more contrast and saturation to the face, since the guy kind of blends into the background, which you could do by various ways, one of which being even like simple not-too-prominent, maybe even kind of sketchy line art perhaps, at least in some areas, like the edge of the face, so that it doesn't look like it's a part of the background. I also already mentioned saturation, but I think the dude should be a bit more saturated, or maybe the background a little less? It's really up to you and whatever you think looks good. That's all, have a good day, and I look forward to seeing more of you art in the future!

    Very good video man, a lot of work! If I can propose a constructive feedback (I hope) : for me, you go a little bit too fast. There is a huge amount of information, well presented but -for me again- it is hard to digest all this information. Just a personnal feeling but again : bravo! I have a little question please with Krita : when you use the "distort move" brush, the result seems to remain clear and distinct. But when I use this brush, the result is always blurry... What's your secret?? I'm so frustrated with this brush!

    • @jagiarts
      @jagiarts ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the feedback!💯 I really appreciate it! I will definitely explain a bit slower. I tend to talk really fast xD 😅 You'll always have some distortions no matter what tool from what i found since we work in pixels imo. For the brush, I also have blur issues at times but I have found a way to make it less. I'm using the standard version really without any changes. You can change the distortion amount in the brush engine (next to the brush at the top tool bar, has a stroke and 3 lines under), however. Mine is 30. I use all three on standard settings. When I move something I generally try use a size for the brush that basically fits everything in inside (unless its above 1000px size limit) the circle/brush that I'm trying to move. The stuff outside of the circle is generally going to get blurred since the brush focuses moving whatever is in the area of the brush size. Also sometimes moving thing gradually instead of all at once helps a lot. Especially when fixing an eye for example, a bane of my existence at times next to hands. xD I sometimes also use the selection tool to select what I want to move/enlarge/shrink, then make the brush size massive and move it like that. The transform tool also has cage, warp, liquify and mesh tools that can help with something you can't do with the brush. I use them often as well. Just remember that if you using multiple layers, GROUP them first. Then the transform applies to all layers in the group. Don't really worry if you cant use the brush right away in my opinion. It took me a little while to get used to it and I still make mistakes with it quite often. Hope I didn't ramble too much and this helps! 😅 Feel free to ask more if you need too as well. ✌

    • @jagiarts
      @jagiarts ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally use Krita so I can only really give you info based on it. There is a perspective tool that will allow you to set up guidelines. It's called the assistant tool (looks like a little crosshair/aimer thingy xD). I did make a mini Krita tutorial video that explains it in more detail as well as other tips if it may help you (unfortunately not voiced though). The tool (go to tool options for the settings etc) allows multiple vanishing points, allows you to draw along the guidelines and set other parameters as well. Hope this helps but feel free to ask any more questions if you need to! Thanks so much for the feedback and support. It's really appreciated!💯

    Am I a cheater if I just trace the original photo and then shade it/ adjust the line work?

    • @jagiarts
      @jagiarts ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a bit of a hard topic since some will view it as cheating and others not. I personally feel like doing breakdowns and studies of photos, artwork etc, is more effective than outright tracing if your goal is to get better and develop your skills as an artist. That being said, tracing can improve your skills and understanding of various things. The one thing you should never do however, in my opinion at least, is trace work and pass it off as your own in any way. I don't think it's cheating although its not something I would personally recommend doing. Especially if you're looking to do commissions or any type of work for others. Learning the fundamentals will always be more beneficial for you if you're looking to create art for a while. I hope this answers your question since it is a rather hard topic to cover in my opinion. Feel free to ask anything else! I don't mind answering. Also thanks for watching the vid! I really appreciate it.💯

      @@jagiarts Really appreciate the thought out response. I just started drawing. Its a hobby, Don't see it ever being more than that but I do want to grow as an artist. My thought was the benefit would be me getting an idea of how drawing people is done in regards to how you curve arms or fingers to make them actually look real and once I do a few of these and they come out well I would then move on to doing then entirely from scratch. I know this is a severe crutch but It seemed like a good learning tool to start. I am okay at doing heads. That I learned from the traditional circle and lines through it technique but bodies give me a lot of trouble.

      @@syntrexfpv1347 No problem at all! Glad I could help you out even a bit. A good way to learn proportions is 3D shapes in perspective as well if you would like to go that route. Spherical shapes, cylinders, and boxes really help me understand the form for bodies and just general objects when drawing or painting. Something small that also helped me learn, and still does help, is trying to break things down into smaller or more digestible pieces of info. So for bodies for example, instead of me thinking I need to draw the whole body, I start by thinking "Okay I just need to draw the cheat area for now" then move onto the next part and so on till I have a fully done piece. Sorry if this seems like a bit of a ramble last paragraph xD I just thought it may help. Thanks again for the comments and view! really appreciate it

      @@jagiarts No this is really helpful, So if I am understanding correctly you are saying that rather than focusing on the whole body, arms, legs torso. I should simplify and make the torso a square and the arms and legs cylinders and then shape the proper arms and ect from that and work on sections at a time rather then trying to envision the whole body at once.

      @@syntrexfpv1347 Yeah, it helps me to break down info or steps since it can sometimes throw me off. I end up envisioning the final of the piece, instead of just getting past what your currently working on. if that makes sense. Yes the shapes and volumes will help with the overall construction and sketching. Also do be afraid to find what shapes you are comfortable with. For example, some people use boxes for the chest are, whereas I use move of an "egg" Shaped sphere representing the rib cage shape itself. Something that also really help me understand anatomy and forms better was doing breakdowns of photos and that. Basically construct the volumes above the reference, basically tracing it to find the pose or whatever you are trying to draw. Afterwards I usually move the break down aside and draw the shapes over "freestyle", with only the breakdown as the reference now. Don't trace again. I compare the shapes and perspective to see what I did wrong and where I can fix my construction. I feel like a massive overlooked thing when learning is actually taking time to observe what mistakes you are making and how you can fix them. Don't just think something is just flat out wrong because you couldn't get it right the first time. You're still learning, and so I am :) Hope this helps.
