DEEP PURPLE with TOMMY BOLIN “Wild Dogs” from ‘Last Concert In Japan’
. I love both versions of the band equally. Love the new vocals and everything. Some great music came from both phases of the band, Getting Old from the newer band brings tears to my eyes every time I try to play it and sing it. Kenner is great on vocals. Bolin on guitar and the band is just great music.
I am Japanese. I will never forget this concert! December 15, 1975, Nippon Budokan, Tokyo. I was 12 years old at the time, but my parents were fans of Deep Purple, so I went to see their live performance with them. I was moved by Tommy Bolin's guitar playing for the first time, and was simply amazed by his vocals and guitar solo in Wild Dog. A few years later, I was very shocked to find out that he was injured at the time and was unable to play normally. The live album from that time is still a part of my precious collection. It was so cool!
Thank You for posting this.
Super badass playing...go Tommy go...really miss his wailing phrases and go-for-it spirit.
A masterwork of blended styles and a sadly prophetic song from Tommy. I always loved and attempted to emulate his awesome guitar tone. What a fret master he was!
I wore out both solo albums and the Billy Cobham album on 8 track, back in the day...
one of my favourites since it was released, truly a showcase of Bolin's abilities and integration of different styles 😊
Quaaludes we're passed out to everybody in the audience. I actually saw somebody move a little bit
MR.COBHAM
My favorite Tommy Bolin song! And Jon Lord’s backing organ adds so much!
Tommy Bolin was immortal on guitar! ☆☆☆☆☆ 💯
Rip Tommy Bolin 😢 🙏
Got the look down . Check Jim Brennan and Southern Breeze
I love the melody of this song and the guitar riff, reminds me of someone I know (km) ..... MrZerr0
It being the last concert of the tour, band went separate ways when it was over. It wasn't made official until July. Deep Purple being an iconic band, this whole concert was not one of their best performances imo
Tommy Bolin…on the cusp he was. Imagine what we all could have been privy to had he survived. On the cusp…….
Deep Purple was like Joining Led Zeppelin! Way To Big for Tommy. Plus instead of just touring 🇺🇸 with James Gang. Now your going around the 🌎 Not alot connections over Sea's? Tommy's Habits had escalated which was not a problem most of the time in the states! But Japan, New Zealand? Good Luck finding any dealers in that part of the 🌎 Tommy had to come in for a landing. Like Hendrix used to say a crash landing!
Whoever can't totally dig some awesome Tommy Bolin, respond with your address and we'll get someone in white coats right over to help you.
Saw them in Philadelphia at the Spectrum. I was a little bummed cause I was so into Joe Walsh. They Rocked it. I became a Tommy Bolin fan for life. Sad I saw his last tour at Tower theater. He was nodding on stage. It broke my heart. Then we lost him. Put a little of that performance on my channel. Along with some old UFO. Schenker from 75
I'd love to hear a live rendition of Comin' Home. They played it live for like a couple of times only.
토미는 제가 전세계에 제일 좋아하는 기타리스트입니다
I wore this album out. Still crank it up. Tommy was an absolute beast on the ax.
👍🤙🤘🎸🎛️😎👍
TOMMY Bolin grande musico fera uma perda para Deep Purple
If Paulie Walnuts had a mullet
Please not so good
As good as this is, believe or not this is Tommy in decline., probably because of lifestyle choices. Billy Cobham album was in 1973, you know how good that was! Listen to the first Zephyr album, when Tommy was a teenager, much better than this. Or the trailer for the Zephyr live concert that maybe released. The Tommy Bolin band live in 1976 his playing was sparse and no where near this. I’m a very big Tommy fan, but I have a bad habit of calling it as I see it. 1974 live at Ebbets field is also very good.
appreciate your honesty and yes, i agree. Still like it though lol
That is, unfortunately, the story. I once had the solo albums on 8 track, and wore them out. Same thing with Spectrum.
...Yes, Tommy's Playing with Mahavishnu members were Great Recordings during that time, Stratus and Quadrant 4 Were Prodigious tracks, as well as "Moxy I", A Tragic Loss !...
I've said that for years. Cobham really was his peak. Of course, it didn't have to be, but he got caught up in the times, and it was costly. As it was, by 1975, he couldn't even play the riff to Purple's Lazy. That's how far he had declined. And the recent Midnight Special footage with the James Gang is hardly awe inspiring. What a shame.
Deep Purple Album "Come Taste The Band" is one of my personal all-time favorites. Jon Lord and Tommy Bolin were ephemoral.
Tommy Bolin "Freelance Guitar" improv genius
When I 1st heard this song, this artist, I was immediately hooked with an “O-M-G’ moment. I believe that is the summer that I was going into the 7th grade. Today I’m 71yrs young and it still amazes me. God Bless you while you’re in paradise.
I got to see Tommy Bolin and the James Gang as the backup band to the Guess Who (this was without Randy Bachman). This was at SMU in Dallas Texas in 1974. This concert was general admission, and the tickets cost only $4.00. The stage floor had no seating and was standing only. We were hanging over the front stage watching. I remember Tommy would use his slide bars on his Fender, then throw them into the audience. We were so close, I threw a piece sign to Dale Peters and he smiled and threw it back. Such great memories of that show I'll never forget.
Un sonido típico americano
I'm more than moved that you should choose to memorialise my late brother Mark by creating this video. Thank you so much x
Big fan of Tommy Bolin. It's a shame his addictions were as hard as his work ethic. RIP
Not a fan of this incarnation of James Gang at all.
Terrible camera work.
Tommy Bollin is primitive !
❤❤❤❤😊
I remember this song well. I've got that James Gang album along with every record I've ever bought and my turntable is up and running. Sure, CD's sound fantastic, but there's something about the needle hitting the record groove and the warmth of an analog recording.
THESE FREAKS IS NOT JAMES GANG. WHERE IS THE JOE WELSH PERSON IF THIS SH#T IS REALLY THEM ? 😂 🤣 😂
I used to go see Tommy, and Zephyr, in Boulder, CO, frequently! He was my introduction to the Echoplex! 😢
Zephyr is hard to find now, but it sure did rock. I bought a Tommy Bolin vinyl box set many, many moons ago that contained some Zephyr. That's also how The James Gang found him.
@@festushagan3921 Candy Givens was a fantastic vocalist!
Honestly it's wonderful to hear the vocals removed(all respect 🙏 to David and Glenn) but this"is" almost as good as it gets... Just as good or better than a Tommy solo instrumental album.
Tommy was great on Billy Cobham spectrum, and also his own albums, but the live stuff I heard them doing with purple??? I think Richie was laughing.
I believe Ritchie was only laughing at the fact he wasn't playing with them anymore... The guitar playing on this is superb from what my ears are hearing.... maybe I'm wrong but from a Midwest 25 year old kid with many albums under his belt and joining one of the most major rock acts of that time is more than extraordinary
I was blessed to see Montrose, Rush and Kansas together in 76.
What a show that must have been! Ronnie Montrose and Sammy Hagar were freakin' killer. I saw Rush with Metallica and they almost blew Metallica away. Sadly, I never got to see Kansas.
Would be better if this singer kept quiet And only let Tommy play
Tommy Bolin excelente guitarrista hacia hablar la Stratocaster
Wow! This is a gem! I’m a huge, Joe era, James Gang guy - crazy power trio! With Tommy? Never heard this, and i’m a 66 yr old, electric guitar maker! God bless TH-cam! Peace
Seriously? I remember it on the airwaves in Texas. I'm 67. Love the Joe Walsh era but bang isn't a bad album.
I love the band After Joe.
I saw him at the Miami Jai Aili that nigh: incredible. God gave him one special night of incredible power.
❤
