Great video
Well done June and Omni and whoever their awesome trainer is😉
Good dog work! It’s my English Setter’s first season as well. She’s doing great. Just wondering, what camera mount are you using. I find the chest/shoulder mount very annoying and the cap mount gets pulled off my head from branches. I got myself a neck mount. What do you think?
When it comes to pushing through thick grouse and woodcock cover not sure there is a good solution...for now I am just using the head band style. If you find a solution that you enjoy please let me know. I would rather just film with my traditional camera than shoot but I often hunt when my buddies are working so it's a cluster trying to film, handle, and shoot.....
@@versatilegundog Thanks! I’m going on Sunday. I tested my chest mount in the yard and it’s looking good. However, when I’ll shoulder my gun, not sure the result will be the same as head/cap mount. I’ll let you know. Cheers from Quebec!
Cheers to you and good luck!
My favorite hunting bird where is living woodchuck in America?
If you are asking about where I hunt woodcock in the U.S. then my answer would be State of Michigan
Gun barrel is too long- 23”-24” is best. Swings better, as where I hunt in Louisiana for woodcock. Sow briars woodcock love, so gloves are a must. Safety glasses come in handy….. Guns vary, have a 12 gauge Remington 1100 “Sam Walton Special” with 23” barrel, and now hunt with Yildiz 20 gauge O/U with 24” barrel. You don’t dock the tails on your GSP?
I don’t find that shorter barrels help much with shooting success yet I won’t disagree with what helps you be successful.
@@versatilegundog I’ve hunted ruffed grouse in Ohio and Minnesota back when it was 30/3 for duck hunting in the Mississippi Flyway, as I knew this would be my best opportunity to enjoy other aspects of bird hunting when my state was under severe restrictions for waterfowl regs…..and the other hunters I met had the same concept- short barrels for thick cover. So, it wasn’t just WHAT WAS BEST for myself it was what others were doing that got me to switch. You gotta ALOT to learn, Hoss…..and I see now your learning curve is a bit stalled at the moment. Good luck.👍
Appreciate you taking time to add your very interesting insights and constructive critiques. Sounds like you have had a great deal of hunting in Ohio. Good luck hunting to you as well.
That was a very polite and class act reply.
Well done. Can't wait to be in the woods.
Thank you! Good luck hunting!
lol - nice faces!
Who is the breeder ?males ? Females?
The breeder is Kathleen Gannon of vom Kompass in Howell Michigan. She has 1 male and 1 female available.
These will be amazing dogs for sure.
Great video!
I just GPS tag that spot lol
Well done. Beautiful dogs.
Holy shit they actually use real birds what?!
Wondering what’s the purpose of having the ecollar beep the whole time? Is it just another way to add noise for them to not think about ?
When I am hunting grouse and woodcock especially in early season the cover is extremely dense providing little to no visibility to see the dog. The beeper allows me to keep track of the dogs position and when the dog is on point. Most dogs need to be socialized to the beeper so they disregard the noise in the field. So yes I nuetralize the sound of the beeper so it is just background noise and doesn't become a negative issue. 😊
Great video should be mandatory watching for any first time bird dog owner
Great Video capturing her point on the bird. She held rock steady! She is going to progress into a great upland dog.
Great job Gnarly Gnat (GG)❤️
Shhhiiiitttttt!!!!!
Good stuff
Have the 300i and should be getting the TT 25 soon
You will be very pleased with it!
The way you handle the pigeon and move it in the grass is borderline disturbing. I believe we can care for both our dogs and training birds just equaly. Otherwise, the video is good and full of good tricks. Thanks
Sorry , no need to have 3 Collars………….half hitch works wonders ! You really gonna make noises from your mouth to call him ?…..
You have no need to apologize....and yes I agree that the half hitch works too. The clicks I make with my mouth are used to facilitate movement not for recall. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment.
@@versatilegundog I appreciate you taking the time to respond…….I’m not totally sold on the click thing when you’re in the file to recall. Always enjoy watching different techniques…..thanks
Great Video! I plan to buy one too. Thanks a lot.
Glad it was helpful for you! Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Fantastic video! It’s great to see a condensed version of the process with a puppy. It made me nostalgic about watching my griff figure it all out. Lots of great info packed in there! Thanks for doing these videos!
Thank you for your kind words! Glad it was worth your time to watch!
Great video.....your best yet!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts!!
Great video. I learned a lot. Getting a Griff pup in a week and looking forward to training him.
Thank you for taking the time to check this video out! Glad to hear you found it helpful. Really appreciate your time!!
I put knots down the check cord to slow them up a bit 😊if they got the fire you want to keep it . A Vizsla is not a boot polisher dog .
I can see why you would do that and agree that at this stage of training its important not to mess with the spirit of the dog. Allowing a dog to play to its strengths yet operate his talents inside a training construct seems to provide me with the most success.
Good to see the pup having a great time. Grouse hunter from Virginia. Getting a new setter pup in June. Thanks for posting!
Congratulations! That's exciting! Where are you getting your pup from?
Man I thought something was gonna happen
Yeah it’s a bit of a drive but the Kansas Prairie vistas are worth the price of admission. Birds are a bonus.
Looks like a damn good time.
Finding birds together means......dinner together :)
Good stuff. Great following along this pup.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hahahaah
Possum on the half-shell. (What do you call armadillo roadkill?)
Now that's funny!
Nice work my friend.
Thank you
Very cool!
😂😂😂
Good job Walt, your teacher is the best. I was fortunate to have one of his students for 13 unforgettable years. Always received praise by onlookers as how well behaved she was witch doesn't happen on there own. Awesome Scott!0
Dang birds :)
Birrrrrrd!!
Wow ,Scot you are jammin ,great puppy blasting for the birds 😊
By definition nope.....but a well bred and trained one will do it all if your expose it :) Great video.
Now thats a good boy.
Great Pup !!! Awesome video , nice job !!
So cute scott ,that puppys got desire and a heart .Best wishes in the New Year 😊
Thanks! Hope it's a good New Year for you too!
This pup's nose is amazing
How young of a puppy can you teach this?
That's a very good question. Unfortunately, my answer would start with "that depends". Puppies need a little shaping and socialization before you would want to begin this level of structure. Typically when they are able to pull around a check chord confidently then they may be ready. That said if you arent sure then a visit with a trusted professional may give some insight to your pups readiness for training.
Just found your channel as I’m starting to train our 10 week old Draht. Keep the videos coming, great stuff!
The holidays and hunting season have slowed the videos down but will be picking up in the New Year. Thank you for watching and hope to bring more content that will help.
REMEMBER 2 👍! THANKS! Great video!!!
