Congratulations to the scots 1st VIII crew on their win at Head Of The river 2020! They've broken the 41 year drought since the last scots win in 79'.

'Mayday' Over the Pacific | A Story of Ray Clamback

Ray Clamback is a ferry pilot and CFI that has over 25,000 hours total flying experience in many different aircraft. Not all his ferry flights were successful as you here about two incidents where Ray had to ditch his aircraft over the pacific, and waited all night in sharky waters 600km off Hawaii to be rescued by a passing container ship.

Wow, amazing to see this. I was a FO on a UAL 757 en route from LAX to KOA and heard the actual ditching. By the time we got into range the USCG was already on the scene and shortly thereafter his engine quit. As I remember it, Mr. Clamback was very calm, stating something like "well mates, she just quit" and making a couple of altitude callouts and then the next thing we heard was the ELT. No more communications from the downed aircraft. I do remember the CG mentioning they lost sight of the aircraft as it descended through a squall. We had to get busy and prep for arrival and after landing had a somber debriefing at Lulus in Kailua-Kona as we had no info on the outcome at that time. I remember seeing an interview on the local Hawaiian news with Mr. Clamback at some point, it was nice to put a face to the radio voice. Anyway, something triggered a deep dive into this story and now I'm up to speed. I made the west coast to Hawaii crossing hundreds of times and always thought it would be fun to ferry an aircraft on the route, but I think not, especially after reading about his 2nd ditching in 2004! I hope Mr. Clamback is well, and thanks for the video.

6:05 is a trash time. You guys prepared for the changes very well and that is why you won, but at the start of the season the other crews were pulling sub 5:50 times, well done on the win, but it was not a real Head of the river, there was not enough time to prepare, Scots is bad at rowing and everything else

Literally every portion of them rowing isn't more than a stroke long because it's a) completely offset, b) completely out of time or c) terrible rowing at large. How is this a 1st VIII? Spend less time making shitty videos and more time learning how to row properly.

Pretty simple; Soul 7's are skied almost exclusively by people who can't ski, the Yellowstone Club is a country club made up entirely of mellow terrain, and 8 inches is a dusting not a pow day.
