Native Treeplanting
มุมมอง 1.7K5 ปีที่แล้ว
On this day in December 2018 we planted almost 3500 trees. We planted Hedge Row with 2/3 lines of trees spaced out at 1m x 1m using varieties Alder, Willow, Birch, Gelder Rose, Hazel, Mountain Ash and Holly. We also started a small Tree nursery with one year old Oak, Alder and Birch. Visit hometree.ie to find out how to get involved or for more information about our Native tree planting project...

DUNJAS HERB AND FLOWER GARDEN
มุมมอง 2.5K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Moy Hill farm is growing… we are expanding in many ways. One of the new branches of our ‘Moy Hill farm tree’ this year is our “herbs and flowers” section!. We’ve always grown herbs, but we’ve now extended the range of herbs that are available immensely. We’ve grown from 4 herbs (coriander, parsley, chives and basil) to a full range of 25 herbs and a constantly growing range of unusual and rare ...
moy hill - OFF GRID FARMING in Ireland
มุมมอง 24K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I made this video mainly with off grid energy from the farm. We didn´t get enough power from the solar panel due to a very grey august in Ireland. In the end I went to town to finish the video. Like Rob said, managing the power is crucial. However it actually helps me. I’m more mindful when working and using power and I feel I’m more productive in making videos.

You can start pollarding your trees for tree hay, raise mushrooms, use as feed stock for a Jean Pain composter. There are many techniques you should learn Las Gaviotas community of La Vichacha, Colombia. They pioneered mass afforestation through mycorrhizae innoculation. They converted a dessert in to a rain producing Forrest. May I have your email?

I myself wouldn't be planting a forest on the Moy hill, nature has already crafted its own topography there as it is... beautiful bogland and wildness and putting a canopy of man made shelter over what's already there defeats the purpose. Everywhere around there is ancient land, be wary of the land spirit's realms and fairy pathways you're planting on.... There's sidhe around there and anytime I'm up there I can feel the sadness in the land....it's a lonely place.... Manipulating the land under the guise of good will and trying to reclaim it from its own destiny is lacking good land management and sustainability.... I hope y'all took the lands intention into consideration...

    • @BonJourBlog

Hi Amanda, The only native Irish trees apple trees are the crab apple. We also have some Heritage but means they have a history in a area and have been grown for a few hundred years, but apple trees originated in Kazakhstan and were brought to northern Europe in Roman times. Also the lines we plant in are from PA Yomans keyline design that prioritises the whole landscape over grids, we have planted in straight lines but using the landscape as the point of reference. I hope this helps. Matt
