Project was completed and came out exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
How did you stop the water from coming out the exhaust?
@jimmypotts4516 It's all covered in the various videos. The harder part was blocking the water port that's internal on the exhaust elbow that put water into the exhaust. Very small hole and inside the elbow from the water jacket of the elbow.
Was it the pull or return cable that you were adjusting there?
@shutinyanks on this bike the return cable is the only one that had an adjustable cable shield.
Soo i Dont know about! How mutch CC That's engine 2 Zylinder have. Meby 150 kmh If ⚙️⚙️ OK.
Yeah thanks
Thank you! This video saved my from a throttle headache after changing to drag bars.
Can you please send me the parts where to buy for the drive train.
All the various parts were bought at multiple online Kart shops and or eBay. As far as what parts you will need, I have no clue. If your attempting a build like this you will definitely need to problem solve as you progress.
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 pillow blocks w/ jack shaft and how did you adapt to crank on motor, Also the clutches as well
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 All im asking is how u adapted the clutch, pillow blocks and shaft to the motor
I had to have 2 custom machined gears for the motor. I may still have them if your interested.
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 I'm interested.. can u please send me photos
I had to replace my return cable last year. Everything has been working great. Haven't ridden it in a year, and now the return cable snaps back fine, but when it's running, the rpms take a little bit to come all the way down like it should. I've been trying to adjust it at the throttle and at the carb. The accelerator cable has 2mm of free play.
Thats an odd one. If the pull cable is sticky the return will be slowed down no matter how good that cable is. You will have to cheetah cable individually, the barrel on the bar without cables hooked up to it, and the linkage on the carb(s).
I know I’m four years late to the party, but would this also be the case if I’m only experiencing it when my handlebars are turned all the way to the left? It started right after I replaced my handlebars with some slightly lower ones. But it’s only when my handlebars are cranked all the way to the left.
That can definitely cause it. I've also pulled out the " push return " cable to fix the issue. Just know that you need to make sure the return spring is working properly if you pull out the return cable. Many bikes especially off road do not use 2 cables.
Additionally, if the cable is being pinched it will not release. In that case it will have to be rerouted.
This was the one, thanks man. Still helping people out 5 years later
Hell ya. Glad this vid is still doing what I intended it to do.
You may of just solved my issue I’ve been looking for! I appreciate this very much
Best of luck. You can always pull the return cable and do a single pull only cable.
That’s what I ended up doing too! I did it this morning and fixed my issue. The only thing going on now is if I tighten down the bolt on the throttle plate it does not snap back so I got nut pretty loose at the moment so I’m not sure what’s going on there
hey I've have zx12 forks from a 02 model, looking to put on my cx500, never done one, much modifications? any help would be appreciated
Search for "All Balls Racing" on the internet. They have a chart that will get you the correct bearing set. If in the instructions it says to space under the lower bearing, keep in mind the extra space of the neck tube that can be trimmed off as I did in this video. It helps so that you may not have to buy an expensive stem.
Thank you, guy actually knows what’s going on 😂 👍👍
I'm glad you got out man! Possible silver in a handful of change is not a bad day at all! Will I get together soon!
I put a KX65 motor on a racing go cart. I really enjoyed the entier build. Go carts are alot simpler and way less time consuming that jeeps. I just got my jeep done and i think im going to do a ski motor on a go cart. How did yours turn out? Do the ski motors haul ass out of the water?
Turned out great. It did need more gear range without changing the gear sets but thats life. At lower gear ratios, the front was way too light and it wasn't drivable since you couldn't turn with tire off the ground.
How did you do the cooling? Can you just mount a radiator and put hoses to the water pump? Do ski motors have a water pump like a dirt bike?
Coil.....not CDI
What I’m the world did you do for the clutch because I’m using the same engine for a golf cart build but cannot find anything for a clutch
Dual performance go kart clutches. The videos cover it.
I recently lowered the handIebars on my cb750 to clip ons and the throttle is sticking. think I've got the adjuster tightened as far as it'll go both at the lever and at the carbs and It's still sticking.
Disconnect both cables from the throttle barrel and see if the function properly. If they do and the barrel spins free on the bar end. The cables need slack in some way. You can always remove the reputable and run a pull cable only. Just make sure the return spring definitely functions.
I got this issue , but I can't do what you suggested because I only have one nut on the end of the throttle cable and the pull cable 2019 bike , so I can't adjust it , I changed my bars but went back to stock and still have the problem
If you have 2 throttle cables, you can eliminate the return cable and use only the pull cable. This can be done for diagnosis as well as permanent. If you run it permanently just make sure the return spring system is working properly. If the pull cable shielding or throttle barrel is damaged, the throttle will not return. These steps and option will help diagnose additional problems.
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 thanks for replying , my throttle snaps back like it should but it's hard to twist on the gas , I haven't seen anyone with this problem , so I think the return cable is working but the pull cable is not I think it's coming off the throttle tube like in your video but it looks like you can't adjust the other end of the cable like you did as there is only one nut , i have thought about removing the return cable just worried that might cause problems like stuck throttle lol
I would disconnect both cables and test the slide of each individually. Also work the mechanism at the carb end to see how is functioning without any cables connected.
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 yep done that , they work fine off the bike carb spring works good too , I'm thinking of trying to rout the cables in a different way , there is nothing else I can think of, I'll let you know what it was if I ever do get it fixed 🤣 I just spent heaps on the bike getting a tune and a exhaust but I can't enjoy it because the dam throttle don't turn 🤬
Do you still sell/ship these?
Yes I do
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500I would like to buy one. What’s your email? I can send you details.
Came here because of the gokart. Noticed you were at 999 subs so I decided to be #1000. Congrats stranger.
Well thank you. I was above 1000 before but I go on binges of no new content and then binges of posting new stuff week after week. One day I'll hit it bug and become a TH-cam star 😉 😉
Brilliant..after changing my handlebars I have this issue, I just wasted 40 minutes watching 4 other videos about oil blah blah.. I had a funny feeling I had to go to the carb...thanks for the tweek that I needed 👍
Your welcome. Hope it solved your issue.
It didn't.. Now I just scratch my head
You can remove the "return" cable either for diagnostics or forever. If its because of 2 cables this will definitely fix it. If its something else, it will help narrow the issue.
Thank you so much!
4 years later, this is a life saver. I've been looking all over the place to figure out how to get my deluxe throttle fixed. I've dropped my handle bars for the cafe look/feel and the first few min of this video was eye opening for me. Thank you! Going to head home today and make these adjustments. Appreciate you putting this out on TH-cam!
Your welcome. If all else fails, remove the return cable and run only the pull cable. Although this video should solve the issue.
This definitely helps! My dear wife demands that she be able to 'flat foot' her '81 CX. This is the best solution I've seen to lower a CX. I'm sorry if I missed this. What are the specs on the your rear shocks/springs?
You didn't miss it. They are just a set I had laying around. Most likely you can find a set on ebay. If your talented enough to do the rake you can definitely swap out shock bushings IF needed. I think these are 2 inches shorter but not exactly sure.
I believe the OE length is 12.5. I can measure the ones on it if you'd like.
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 I measured the OE length at 320mm or ~12.59 inches. Same as you. Yes, if you could measure the ones you have on this build, that'd help me source similar rear shocks & springs. Thanks!
Dang, I knew I would forget. I'm on vacation currently and will set a reminder for myself.
They are 11 inches long from center to center at full extension. Probably easy to find on ebay.
I same problem on my 2002 vstar 650 but the cable nuts and bolts are kinda different I tried this method it just thighed the throttle even more im starting to lose hope and take it to the mechanic please help
You can switch to a single "pull" cable. Many bikes only use 1 cable to pull the throttle open.
How much does the JetSki motor weigh?
Off hand I would say its around 60 lbs
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 do you have videos of it running/driving?
Nice build....for the horn on my CX....I extended the 2 wires and bolted the horn behind the left header on the radiator ......check out my CX build @ Lukas Garage
so how do you adjust throttle and return cables
Typically only 1 has an adjustment point. Once you find that then you adjust it and that almost always fixes the issues. If that doesn't work then I remove the return cable and only run a pull cable.
Great ideas! I'm picking up my second "twisted twin" this weekend and am inspired by your content!
They are my favorite platform to build on as you can probably tell. I've done 3 bobbers, 4 cafes, and now the current raked out lowered one.
Keep posting! I'm interested to see how it all turns out.
I have a 550 motor im wanting to put in a kart can you possibly tell me all the parts youve bought. Please
This is going to require basically a phone call. Are you on FB so I can PM you my #
Can’t wait to see the finished project!
I'm shooting for a month from now. This one will not be torn down and a complete repaint. It will be offered for sale with OE paint on tank and only the frame areas with bare metal repainted. If the buyer wants a "full job" it will be offered after purchase.
You made it cool.. my dad had one years ago to Flip' car salesman"..i took it out at 14 and forgot to let it cool before putting the cover on..Busted... Dad was pissed. I got it to Melt off ;)
Oh! Ya you did it to yourself there. The CX is my favorite platform to build on. Glad you like this one. I've not done a rake on any bike until this on.
What you have to understand is Oregon is full of gambling halls. People steal from others to feed their addiction. The state is full of different coins that didn't work in the slot machines so why not throw them out they are no good to you.
THANK YOU! I wish this video would show up higher in the search instead of all the clickbait videos that show up first. This video really helped me. I have a 1979 CX500 Custom I’ve rebuilt. It’s always had the stickiest, gummy throttle. I’d gotten used to it, figuring it was just “vintage bike” feel. After watching this video, I removed the cables and really cleaned them. Lubed them, cleaned and lubed the throttle sleeve, adjusted the length. It’s like night and day! The throttle is so much smoother. It snaps back. The bike feels so much more responsive. I’m amazed at how much better it feels to ride it. I know the cables don’t affect how the bike runs, but it honestly feels like the bike runs way better than before. I suppose that’s because the carbs are reacting to much more subtle flicks of my wrist instead of having the wrestle the throttle to get it to react. Thank you!
Hey man I don’t know if you’d still find this but what kindve clutch did you use and where did you buy it
Sorry for the delay, I was on a cruise ship. I used a pair of Hilliard Fury clutches with a jack shaft.
First vid of the year??😂
Thank you very much.Having this problem after putting on 10" bars.oiled the hell out of it but still couldn't get it to work.
If all else fails, going to a single "pull only" cable will also fix it.
@@thedutchmanandthedigger1500 I have a honda rebel 500 with pull and push cables
Having this issue after switching to an ODI throttle tube. Hoping this fixes it.
You can always switch to a single "pull" cable. I've done that on a few just to cut down on the number of cables.
Any updates years later
The ski engine was removed and a 11hp Briggs was installed. The ski motor was just too much. After the Briggs was installed, the Kart was sold. All videos of it are here on my channel.
Great video! Can you make a video on the process of doing the conversion? From the cut to installation?
Not sure how long it will take as I have no clients lined up that want USD for conversions.
Just finished adjusting my new clutch cables, thanks for the video.
Great to see another CB400 getting redone, your work looks terrific! Are you doing a custom battery box for this build? If so and you're game to make a pair I will happily buy one. Looking forward to your next video! Thanks!
Thank you and yes the box will fit under the engine much like the CX/GL boxes I build and sell. Although it will only have 2 mounting tabs and it doesn't swing down.
I've been having issues with my iron 883. The throttle sticks when the weather is cooler. Any idea?
Only thought would be if the cable has a fluid/lube inside hat is thickening when colder. You may have to figure out if its cable related or carb related.
Wow. Thank you for this! I am updating the front forks on an xs850 I just picked up and could not wrap my head around spending all that $$$ on something from Cognito Moto. I will check out All Balls!
Glad to help. I love finding ways around spending $. This was a simple work around and saved time as well. The cost of Cognito components is outrageous.
Thank you for this video I totally appreciate this I changed my bars about a week ago. I've been having a sticky throttle ever since.
Do you also have to adjust the second cable? Or is this issue resolved with just the throttle cable?
No, I have never had to. Most only have 1 adjustable cable. Some have 2 locations to adjust though.
Thanks so much!
looking for another update if possible, interested in doing something similar myself
Once it was built and ran for a few months, the motor was pulled and swapped out for a Briggs 11hp. It was just too much motor to make use of. I couldnt keep the front down and that made it difficult to run any track.
